translate
Very often I need to translate booklets that were designed in InDesign. Some booklets can be huge containing many text fields. Many translators request to send them the text in a MS Word file. Therefore, i have to copy-paste all the text text-box by text-box. And then repeat the same process to transfer the translation back to InDesign from MS Word.
It would have been nice if InDesign could automatically export ONLY the text from text boxes into MS Word using HTML tags. Like:
<textbox_00001> text text text</textbox_00001>
<textbox_00002> abc</textbox_00002>
<textbox_00003> text 2</textbox_00003>
And then be able to import this file back to InDesign and replace the text.

Export a PDF of your document, then, in Acrobat, export the PDF as a Word document, you'll have what you need!
However, I would check for alternative translators; every translation house I've used over the past 20 years ask for a .IDML file for the translation of an ID document. You'll get an InDesign document back that – depending on how the translated text fits – may just need to make a few adjustments.
