Type 1 font warning for no reason
I am getting a warning that my document contains type 1 fonts (10 of them) when they do not (contains 4 OTF fonts).
As far as I know, I have never used a type one font in any document on my current computer which is only a few weeks old ... Mac mini with t1 chip.
InDesign version 17.0.1
The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2023(v18.2.1.455). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

I'm getting this same problem. InDesign warns Type 1 fonts won't be supported starting next year (2023), but my fonts are all OTF which makes me feel like WTF?

Same issue here. It's getting close to 2023—I sure hope Adobe fixes this or delays its discontinuation of support for Type 1, even though these fonts are really OpenType.

I can report that after updating to version 17.3, and after deleting Indesign's cashes and preferences folders in the Library as described, the problem persists. Still some fonts that in fact are OTF are reported as "OTF Type 1" and claimed not to be supported any longer from 2023.

Similar issue here, though InDesign is failing to activate 'OpenType Type 1' fonts — which should be supported.

I am having the same issue. It is a colossal waste of time when I have to recheck evry single one of 64 style sheets that I know are correctly defined with open-type fonts

Same issue. Screenshot example attached. Warning of 25 Type 1 fonts, Find/Replace identifies 16 fonts in document with 0 Type 1 fonts.

Perhaps this is related to a missing font issue I'm currently having with Museo Sans Rounded, a font that has been activated and used from Creative Cloud for years. This font is now showing up as missing, and the font name has changed to include (OTF) at the end.
I have screenshots of the font info for the missing font, as well as the information after I update the font once again from Adobe fonts.

I continue to get alerts for Type 1 Fonts for documents that do not appear to contain any. I think it's triggering randomly with some files. I have closed InDesign and re-opened the same document and have not received the same alert.
I also saved an alerting file to a new file, closed InDesign, opened the new file and received the alert. Then I saved the exact same file to a different location, closed InDesign, opened the new file and have NOT received the alert. Is this alert on an internal timer or something to prevent it from always alerting on the same file?

Same issue here!
See the attached screenshot. The selected font is marked as PostScript Type 1, while Info says that this font is OpenType. -

ADOBE, this is a bug with how fonts are listed and flagged in the Fonts dialogue box.
Many fonts that are based on original Type 1 / PostScript data are now being flagged as Type 1 rather than OpenType.
Please refer to this post in the community forums, and to the screen capture in the origianl post: Although flagged as Type 1, the detailed information at the bottom of the dialogue is correctly verifying that the font is OpenType.
It's the warning in the dialogue that is incorrect.

OTF Postscript-flavour fonts still have a Type 1 font outline at heart. This is what is embedded in PDFs, but it is sourced from the OTF package. It's a bit confusing, yes. It would make more sense going forward if Acrobat identifies these as "Postscript outline" rather than "Type 1" but we're not there yet. (in addition, OTF TrueType flavour will read as TrueType in PDFs)
As for the warning, the code is a bit aggressive right now and identifies fonts hidden in an internal XML fork even if they are not used. No one is quite sure why, but the issue has been reported. -

The type 1 font warning pops up at inappropriate times. If you open docs with type 1 fonts and docs without type 1 fonts and then close the type 1 docs, the warning remains for the valid doc. Close the valid doc and reopen it to make the warning go away.
Found an OTF font misidentified as Type 1 font when exporting to Acrobat Pro. Not sure if it is a font issue of a program bug.
