InDesign 15.1.1 - Fonts not activating - stuck on spinning circle background tasks
I have a problem on InDesign 15.1.1 - My Creative Cloud fonts are not activating... How can I sort this out? It's stuck on the spinning blue circle of doom - the background task has been saying queued for hours now.
I need my fonts not sure what to do?? Help.
Try closing the document that shows the Background Tasks as queued. If the Auto-Activate Adobe Fonts option has been selected and you are connected to the internet, fonts in your document should get auto-activated.
Please try once again and let us know.

This only happens occasionally, but the only solution I have found is to force-quit and then re-start the app.

This does not work... I'm on InDesign v19.0 and still often run into this looping background task trying to activate fonts. Have totally rebooted the app. Please get this fixed.

I am having the same issue and cannot continue my work that must be delivered to students ASAP. This is a huge problem.
I have closed the program and restarted my computer multiple times. I still have the same issue. I need immediate assistance. -

I have the same issue. Can't close it either. Activated everything it seems. I am connected to the internet. I can also see the new fonts have been applied to the template but for some reason the circle has been on since yesterday. Can't seem to update.

I had this issue as well and it was fixed when I quit indesign and then restarted the program.

Closed all documents, still spinning. The only thing that got it to stop was completely shutting down the application & restarting.
Huge time sink.
As another user points out, you should be able to stop the task with the Background Tasks pop-up window.

I have this same thing happening on InDesign 17.0.1. HELP! I have logged out of Adobe, and logged back in. Closed InDesign and re-opened. Deactivated the fonts on Adobe and Re-activated.... Still stuck on one font!

Adobe — you MUST include an easy way for InDesign users to stop the Background Task of searching for the font > by allowing users to stop the search DIRECTLY from the Background Tasks pop-up window. Why isn't this already part of functionality - this is silly.

Same issue for me! So annoying. I'm trying to create PDFs and they're stuck in the queue behind the "activating fonts" which aren't activating.

I've got the same issue and have tried everything below. Cannot seem to activate the fonts I had written my entire document in. The background tasks are stuck - I'd love some help with this if possible!

I am having this same problem. I am in indesign 15.1.1 using a packaged file and I have the fonts on my machine. I shut off Adobe fonts, still getting the blue circle and fonts as queued. I cannot replace the fonts. Ive tried two different files that were packaged, reinstalling the fonts, closing everything down and restarting my mac (Catalina 10.15.5). No dice.
