1. conditional text leaves a bullet with blank line when using a bullet list

   Indesign v16

   We use conditional text and have noticed that using bullets with this would leave a lone bullet when swtiching the conditional text off. There's a work around to and a line break and switch the bullets off which allows the condition to work as expected.

   Would expect bullets to work with conditional text without the need for an extra line, this is flagging as overset text in some cases as well.

   To reproduce the issue:

   Set a few lines of text to bullet style
   apply conditional text to the lines
   Switch view of conditional text off
   You're left with a solo bullet with no text

   Would expect there to be no bullet at all

2. hypen text

   In french, in compound words (like Pyrénées-Orientales) wraping mst be made only after the hypen. Wehn I use wrapping, InDesign wrap the word (for exemple Pyrénées-Orien-tales). Is it possible to have the choise, in the wrapping parameters, not to cut the compound words?
   I use InDesign 14;0;2 on Windows 7.

3. Paragraph borders do not update when the text length is changed

   When editing a paragraph with borders applied to them, the borders do not update correctly when changing the text length. This should occur dynamically, whereas currently, users have to tick and untick the checkbox as it does not always update.

   This occurs on Windows 10, Indesign version 16.4.

4. unwanted space at line beginning (Thai language)

   when paragraph contain Latin text or number or space at end of the line, many times when shrinking or expanding text frame, indesign cut the line and put space at beginning of the next line where those Latin text or number goes.

5. 15.1.2 No cursor visible in Input fields in Light/Medium Light themes

   Since installing 15.1.2 on iMac 10.15.6 (and after restart) , I can't see my cursor (blinking) in the Find/change input field. I can type in some text though, but still no cursor visible

   The issue has also been fixed in the latest update of InDesign 2020 (ver. 15.1.3).
   Please update InDesign 2020 to version 15.1.3 to get the fix.

6. File Info > Raw Data panel doesn't allow to select text and search

   The File Info > Raw Data panel stopped working as expected:

   -The search field doesn't work
   -It's impossible to even select text in the panel

   I'm pretty sure it worked earlier - so something probably got broken recently.

7. Can't wrap the first line of a page

   If I place an anchored image at the very start of the page, the first line does not wrap, it disappears behind the image. One solution in the forum was: Make an invisible line of 0pt. Are you kidding me?

8. Disappearing footnotes on export

   Since updating to the latest major release of InDesign (14), we have been experiencing issues in one of our templates where footnotes have been disappearing from chapters (documents) in a Book when exporting the Book as a PDF.

   This was not an issue in previous versions of InDesign and the template has not changed.

   Is this perhaps a bug?

9. Hanging drop cap has wrong indents in 2023 v18

   In v18 (2023), when a paragraph has both a drop cap and a hanging indent (negative first line indent), the indent gets messed up on subsequent lines.

   This came from a bug report by Lut Van Nooten on the InDesign Secrets LinkedIn group:

   The solution is to disable the new Composition Preference: "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap"

   However, in this case, this is clearly a bug because there is no text wrap!

10. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - For Hebrew Text, after applying Forced line break -The character direction changes to Left-to-right direction.

    When typing a paragraph in Hebrew there is a problem when doing Forced line break. The character direction become Left-to-right direction, insted of keeping the Right-to-left direction.

11. spellchecker causes InDesign to crash

    I've had this occur across multiple files; some new, some old.
    I cannot stop the behaviour from happening despite cache and com. dumps, prefernence resets, etc. - whenever I run Spellchecker InDesign disappears/crashes. I'm losing money constantly as I'm a designer who outputs a lot of multi page brochures, books, magazines, etc. and my efficiency has ground to a halt.

12. Data merge doesn't work with UTF-8 unicode file

    DataMerge is failing to import UTF 8 text as Unicode.

    1. Create UTF 8 Text file for merging.
    2. Open previously functional InDesign document with keys already established.
    3. Select data source
    4. Choose text file (UTF8 no BOM) (if you have BOM, file isn't recognized)
    5. Tick show import options (never needed to do this before)
    6. Make sure its Unicode.
    7. Data still comes in in ASCII even though I chose Unicode. This has to be a merge problem because I can cut and paste the data into the InDesign file without issue.

13. Rulers exceeding text boundaries, only paragraph shading or offsets seem to be able to limit them

    The issue is described in this thread (sample .INDD file link included in the thread to reproduce the issue):

    The excess rulers that go beyond the text boundary can only be removed (or masked, not sure which is actually happening) with paragraph shading.

    As a rule, rulers should not go beyond the text boundary, and they should adapt to the text boundary (if font size have been changed, or if other changes have been made that affect the layout).

    But the green arrows show that in some cases the boundary is correct.

    It shouldn't be necessary to add both offsets and paragraph shading to get the rulers right.

    The paragraph shading trick is not a real solution, that I guess is just overlapping the rulers but it does not trim them.

14. stalls intermittently, seconds to minutes of spinning beach ball or Application not responding

    Stalls to a spinning beach ball intermittently during use. Add images in frames, move images or add text, what-ever, it suddenly just stalls and can take seconds to minutes before clearing. CS6, the CC2017 worked fine. Now CC2018 seems to have regressed in performance. I have to FORCE QUIT at times. MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

    We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
    We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.

    1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
    2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
    3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
    4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.

    We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.

    However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created multiple threads to address each root cause separately and effectively.

15. Text rendering bug during regular works and also in the presentation mode

    Hello, I am facing a strange text rendering bug in the InDesign v18.4 on my Mac Pro 7,1 during regular work on the InDesign document (it doesn't matter which one), mainly while using magnifying glass tool (zoom in / zoom out) and during the presentation mode (see video and screenshots).

16. Change Format selection for "Change Case" disappears after altering Find Format

    Indesign 2025
    When searching for a style for which I want to perform a change case operation, it works fine. If I then want to change the style that I'm searching for, when I confirm that change and return to the main window of find/replace, the parameters for the "change format" window get wiped out...I believe this only happens with change case. I tested this by changing the case in the Basic formats to "all caps". I found that if I used any other parameter, or any other parameter in conjunction with the new "change case"...the "Change Format" parameters remained...but when only using the change case parameter, "Change Format" gets wiped out if you choose a different style or parameter in "Find Format".

    In short, the first time works. If you then try to change the Find Format selection, the Change Format selection for "Change Case" gets wiped out.

17. Fill with Placeholder Text doesn’t automatically change the font and characters for that language when holding ⌘ and choosing that from menu

    InDesign CC 2018 on macOS Mojave public Beta,
    when holding down ⌘ key and choose Type-> fill w place holder text, there’s a pop up menu that you can choose which language you want to fill in, and it did fill with placeholder text, However it didn’t fill in text with that language and choosing a font that suits that language, or even ragged left if it’s Arabian language.

    Please confirm if the issue happens only with Mojave. Was it working fine before upgrading to Mojave?

    Are CMD/opt keys working fine in other workflows?

    1. create two pages with text anchors at the top. each page has two buttons, one leading the the other pdf (see files attached) each doc exported as Interactive PDF. In abode Acrobat (or any pdf reader) when you click the button it will not open the linked document.
    This feature does work in Indesign 19.3. But I would like to be able to update to the latest versions....

19. Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 crash when pasting certain string into text box with particular font

    Hi, I’m a type designer and font delveloper (for more than 20 years) and have made a custom font (Latin) that makes extensive use of the Contextual Alternates feature (calt). Let's call the font FontXyz, it’s an OpenType CFF font (.otf).

    These are the steps that always cause InDesign to crash
    1: Text cursor is in an empty text box where my FontXyz is already set
    2: Pasting the string “1234,-”
    3: Crash

    I can prevent the crash by:
    a: Putting my cursor in between two spaces and then pasting the string “1234,-”
    b: Pasting the string without the “-”, thus pasting “1234,”

    The font has passed various validation tests (Fontbakery (even the “check-adobefonts” one), FontGoggles, Font Validator) and works without any issues in other MacOS apps (such as Microsoft Word, Pages, Figma and browsers).

    The crash occurs in Adobe CC InDesign 2024 and 2025
    I'm running MacOS 15.5

20. objects in a page disappear when reapplying master page to that page

    INDD v18.2.1
    this is a new bug in CC

    On a page, when re-applying the same master page (e.g parent A) to it, all text frame box will disappear. Why do I wanna reapply the same master page to it? Because sometimes the text box is moved by accident, so I re-apply the master page so that it will go back to the original position. It used to work in order versions of INDD. Not anymore.

    Is this a bug or a feature that no longer exist? Please fix. thank you.
