Make character and paragraph sections of Properties panel full featured like the Character and Paragraph panels
The Properties panel is a great replacement for having the Character & Paragraph panels both open at all times. However, it's missing some functionality that's presented in the upper right menu on these panels (see attached). Some of these options aren't found anywhere else. It's a shame to need to have these panels open alongside the Properties panel. It would be preferable to add these options to the Properties panel to keep things tidy.

Frame Fitting Panel
Fairly self explanatory. Frame fitting options are one of the only frequently used features that don't have their own panel, which can cause UX issues for various reasons. Solution, give them a panel.

Update the Review Panel
I have been using Share for Review for a couple of years now.
First: Kudos to Adobe for the recent update to the website tools, especially the login banner and the zoom buttons.
There are still a few things that I would suggest changing on the app side, specifically to the review panel and the window from the share drop down:
-Can we add an update button to the review panel? Or, even better, when you save (NOT Save As) have an option to update the review during the save process? Better than digging into the share windowpane…

Make PDF Commenting Panel consistent and better designed
In one place in the panel, it's called Accept. In the flyout menu, it's called "Apply Auto Edit."
Why did we suddenly start calling the checkbox "Resolve"? I know that's the term that Acrobat uses, but it's confusing. Especially, when it's located alongside a word called "Accept." You're making users try to figure out new nomenclature when the old words worked just fine.
The icons on the left of the panel are way too subtle. In Acrobat, they are color coded. Replace text is blue. Strikethrough text is red. Sticky notes are yellow. Underlines are green. Why can't we…

Book numbering options in one panel
Please streamline book numbering options into one panel. It's beyond aggravating to go from Layout -> Numbering & Section Options, then to the Book Panel -> Update Numbering and fumble around with that until you get it right. If the suggested panel had a "Preview" box as well, you could preview your changes until you get your desired result.

Add Index panel to InCopy
It seems to me to be a great oversight that the Index panel of InDesign does not exist within InCopy. To create an index is a natural part of content creation (although the actual generation of an index is naturally part of design).
Given that the anchors for index entries are in-line with the text as found in both the story editor and galley view, it seems that there should be a way to work with these within InCopy.

Links panel: Place time
In "Links panel" we already have the option to add or change the columns displaying usefull info about the linked object. Choosing "Place Date" is an option to show the date when the object was placed.
Now... it would be neat if, in addition, the column could show the "time" as well.6 votes -
Lossless GIFs, Further Customizable Shapes, Added Photoshop Tools, Improved Publish Online
My wish is that InDesign is bolstered with all the presentation design features necessary to compete against Canva / Figma / ReadyMag / Google Slides. Here are just a few suggestions:
GIFs (or any media) should not revert to it's original form when published online. GIFs with rounded corners, GIFs filling shapes, GIFs blended with other layers - should have all the same editing effects as a still image.
All preset shapes should be able to be adjusted smoothly and intuitively into others - and still capable of being filled with imagery / text.
PLEASE add more of photoshop's design …

Library panel: Pop-up preview on focus
Thumbnails, even large thumbnails, in the Library panel are often not enough to know which object I’m looking at. I often have a lot of similar items in one library. How about a preview that appears when the mouse hovers over a library item? It would work like tool tips.
While I’m on the subject, how about letting us name items in the panel instead of requiring a dialogue? Most panel work this way.

Search Function in the Layer's Panel
To add to "Inline search filter for all styles panels and swatches", not just list of styles but list of objects within the layer panel. Like Photoshop's layer search.
I use Photoshop quite a bit and found that the search function within the layers panel very helpful when I have MANY layers and I need to find a certain item (see image below). Well, with InDesign, I might have only one layer but TONS of objects in each. So a search function would be incredibly helpful in finding that object.

Make the Buttons and Forms panel expandable
The Buttons and Forms panel is not expandable like almost all other panels. It's too narrow and when you have many buttons the Visibility list is much too short when it starts scrolling. Also, I want to move (drag and drop) the order of the buttons in the Visibility list.

Reduce paragraph panel
Coming here from CS5. Wish there was a way to edit the paragraph format panel so it only shows what you need. "Hide options" does not work as I do need "space above" for paging, and that disappears. I do NOT need drop caps in paragraph panel (that would be a paragraph style), or borders/shading (that would be an object style). Panel takes up way more space than I would like. Perhaps a "legacy" option to eliminate those unneeded elements.

Background Task Panel
Please make the Background Task panel smaller. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for it to be this big. For laptop users it is a real space hog.

Let user customize toolbar with ability to remove less frequently used tools or rearrange order of tools. Maybe under preferences?

Background tasks and glyphs panel width matching other panels
I would love to be able to incorporate the Background tasks and glyphs panel width to my other panels.
These panels are too wide and so cannot be included in my sidebar

Solo Mode for Properties Panel
Okay, I love the new Properties panel, and the fact that it is a work in progress. As it gets longer, instead of scrolling too much, could there be an option of putting the sections of the Properties panel into Solo Mode similar to Lightroom?

Adjust colours directly in the gradient panel
In InDesign, I'd like the option to edit colours from directly in the gradient panel, as in Illustrator (double click to access colour slider)
Having this feature added would greatly improve workflow - at the moment, I have to add colours to a swatch panel then drag them onto my gradient slider which becomes a very tedious process when making micro-adjustments.
