Image frame option 'fit to bleed'
I'd like to have option 'fit to bleed' next to 'fit to frame' etc. options. So I wouldn't need to move graphic frame corners manually to bleed area.
Not a major issue, but a little improvement :)

DataMerge icons/images inline into text frames
Add the ability to put file paths for icons/images with text in a cell, so that the images are merged inline with the text in a text frame. For example "Here is some text and here's an @icon.ai" would merge the icon.ai file into the text.
I know a lot of people who do work on card games using DataMerge, and this is the single most frequent request I get.
Currently the way we get around this is by merging text with placeholders like "[icon]", then copying the icon to the clipboard and doing a find and replace…

Align points
It would be really helpful if it was possible to align points in InDesign. I use guides to align points, but it's not quite as accurate as I want it to be. Thanks!

Linked text frames inside text threads keep links
When a linked text frame is placed on the page, it updates its contents when the parent linked text frame changes. But if one copies that text frame and pastes it inside a text thread, it appears to have a link icon, but the link is actually broken and will not update with the parent text any more.
I am trying to use this to have a callout box for a construction procedure that is duplicated is several places in my document. I want them to be inline of my text as other instruction steps will change, and reflow the…1 vote -
fit frame to bleed
I would like to see a script that recognizes frames outside of the bleed coordinates, and snaps the frames to those coordinates. It just tidies up the pasteboard and helps with the center content in frame action. Thank you!

Auto Layout of text frames (ala Figma auto layout)
Currently InDesigns' text frame fitting options are really powerful... but it would be amazing to pinch some of Figma's functionality, to supercharge them for dynamic layouts.
For instance, we often like to set up text variables on a master page, and have a layout which dynamically adjusts. Currently, we can use workarounds like whitespace to set spacing between elements, so that as the content shrinks & expands nothing overflows, and the spacing between these elements remains consistent. It's a limited approach, but better than nothing. You could take this further by having items dynamically align to layout grids (like baseline-grid …

paragraph shading borders align to / away from spine
Add the ability to have paragraph shading and borders align to / away from spine. Also make it possible to have each corner affect individually align in relation to the spine.

Align Content on page - not just objects or selection
It would be great to have a button panel to align to page, not just align objects or align to selection. For example when I want text or an image dead center on the page it would be great to just be be able hit a keyboard shortcut or click a button and have it align to center of page, horizontally, vertically or both. I know there's tons of ways to work around it, but it would be so nice!

Ability to place 'live' endnotes at end of story, not in separate frame
Fairly straightforward - current 2018 endnotes are forced into a separate frame, rather than being at the end of the text in the story. This means having to constantly manually moved them about when text frames are being adjusted. Need the ability to have the same positional behaviour at the end of the body text within the same story frame as endnotes have always previously had (preferably whilst still being live, but failing that, the ability to turn off the new behaviour would be sufficient).

Problem: Text frames suddenly become empty
When working on a +400 pages book, and when I'm in the middle of simple text editing (most of the time; any editing that causes an increase or decrease in lines), suddenly one text frame (other than the one I'm working on) become empty, and all text will move to the next text frame. To solve it I have to edit some text; like adding a paragraph then deleting it. And another fix is by resizing the text frame!!
My version is 2020 last update. Book is in Arabic.
Cannot understand why that is randomly happening!1 vote -
Make align/do not align to baseline be available on the text control panel at top as well as on para control panel.
It is great how, at the top of the Indesign work area, when you choose the text portion of the control panel, you can still (at far right) access some paragraph tools (spacing, etc.); and how when you choose the para portion of the control panel, text tools are also still available at far right. Perhaps there is a reason I haven't thought out as yet why my idea hasn't been done, but I have to, I am CONSTANTLY needing to access the align/do not align to baseline tool when I'm in text mode, and I have to keep…

It is SO important to have footnotes continue the numbering throughout a whole document without restarting the numbering every text frame
It is bad document design to have the whole document in one single text frame (a nightmare when doing changes and everything moves). At the very least each chapter should start with a new text frame. So it seems crazy that you can set footnote numbering to restart every page, spread or section but when none of these are selected the numbering should flow through the whole document! NOT restart for each text frame. Thank you.

Color Property and Text Alignment Option for Text Form Field
Under Buttons and Forms, if selecting a Text Field for an object or area, we are given the following text properties: Font, Font Appearance (Bold, Regular, etc), and Font Size.
I am requesting that the following properties are added to the Text Field options: Text Color, Text Alignment.
Text Color - Allows user to choose color of text that will show up in the interactive Text Field after being exported to PDF.
Text Alignment - Allows user to place the text alignment within the field prior to exporting.
By adding these two elements, the user doesn't have…

Align Stroke to guides
I want to be able to align or snap the stoke of an object to the guides based on the selected Align Stroke. Right now if I have a rectangle with a stroke of 6pt and the Align Stroke is set to center, when I approach a guide it snaps on the top of the object instead of the center of the stroke.

Inadvertently dragging image frame contents instead of moving frame.
I am frequently inadvertently dragging the contents of an image frame (photograph) out of the frame, instead of moving the frame itself. This is even while the Select Tool is chosen.
It seems to matter whether the frame was previously selected and where in the frame you click/drag.
I would like this to only be possible with the Direct Selection Tool.
Or at least, an option that can turn off this frustrating 'feature'.2 votes -
Align round a circle
There shod be an option (in all of the Adobe programs) to have align around a circle and to be able to distribute the objects evenly around a circle (or other shape for that matter)

Drag text from CC libraries to existing line
When you drag text from the CC libraries into a text frame that has some text in it, the text you dragged won't be added to the line but it will create a new text frame.
I'd like it for the text to be added to a line in a text frame.
3 votesThanks for making this suggestion. Currently you can right click on the Text element in the Libraries Panel with your insertion pointer at the location where you would want the text to go.
Once you do this you get an option of Placing inline. This way you can insert the text at the exact same location.Let me know how this goes for you.

Align to column function
InDesign really needs an align to column function, especially for centering objects within a column. This seems to be a really simple oversight.

add effects to paragraph shading/frame
This CC 2018 Update is fantastic!
The only thing I am missing is the lack of possibility to add effects like shadows, on paragraph shadings and frames.
This would be extremely helpful for a heavy-graphical CI, where text - spanning over more than one column or frame - must be underlaid with shadowed frames. Actually, when page breaks are to be corrected, I have to adjust those background frames manually, which is quite time-consuming.
