Text formatting is lost when copy/pasting a text box to another document.
When Copying a text box from one document to another, the formatting is lost and is highlighted red (indicating missing font?). The font changes to from Arial to Helvetica as substitution.
Both documents are updated to the current file format.
The box copies and pastes as a basic text frame.I'm able to reformat everything to match the other document, but I don't know why it's losing the formatting.

export to EPUB Fixed Layout drawing shapes incorrectly and font spacing is all wrong
I have a children's picture book that I am trying to turn into an ebook to go with the printed version. If I follow the menu path: File -> Export and choose EPUB (Fixed Layout), the entire book has the following issues:
1) Shapes are all square - ignoring corner or being a circle or a freeform shape
2) Fonts are set to some generic fonts and the spacing between lines and characters is all random and wrong.See three attached files to see how the pages are displayed with Indesign (source Indd file), and within the Kindle…

Selecting text is offset slightly so you select the wrong characters
Selecting text is sometimes really difficult as where you click is slightly off from what InDesign thinks you're clicking on. That means that when you highlight a word, it often misses the first character that you're trying to select. You then have to move the cursor slightly over another character for it to highlight it.
It's really frustrating as it doesn't seem to happen in all documents. The ones I'm having issues with at the moment use the customer's own font but I've been using that same font for about 5 years with no issues until now.
I'm using InDesign…

story editor
In my notes, the first character is always substituted with a missing font symbol. It looks fine in the main layout window, but this odd behavior occurs both in the Notes panel, as well as the same note when displayed in the story editor.

15.0.1 doesn't find fonts in document fonts folder
If I open a document that has a Document fonts folder [in the same folder as the document itself], InDesign 15.0.1 consistently fails to find those fonts or let me select them. So the document opens showing all those fonts as missing and there's no way to fix the problem.

Montserrat typeface's; semi bold, bold, extra bold & black has issues displaying in Id
Version 2024 19.0
When I change the font to Monserrat with one of the mentioned styles most of the glyphs are wrongly presented for example if i choose bold most of the letters seem to be light rather than bold, with a few like 'o' and 'E' displaying as the right style, when they should all be displayed as bold.

Unable to kill find missing fonts background process
If the preferences setting to automatically find missing fonts is set, there are three major issues:
1/ The background process never times out,
2/ The background process severely degrades InDesign performance for everything else, and
3/ There is no way to manually kill that background process. If we could, then issues 1 and 2 would not be such problems. If the fonts aren't found, or the internet connection is hinky, or if the Adobe servers are under heavy load or having other issues, we could just kill that background process and then either try again later or design…8 votes -
Brush Strokes
Strokes should be more variable, like in Illustrator. I miss brush strokes. I'd like to create some stroke styles myself. For some Corporate Designs it is crucial to have.

Inaccurate Type 1 Warning
This issue is purported to be fixed, but I'm still getting a false type one warning after upgrading to the last version of InDD 18. (18.5.2). The flagged font is Whitney Black, the only font out of the the entire OT Whitney family that's installed on my MacBook pro that gets flagged. Whitney Black also shows up twice on my font list, even though there is only one version installed and used in my stylesheets. The font is clearly OT in the replace font dialog box, does not trigger a preflight warning and exports fine to PDF.

Indesign CC 2023 Freezes/Crashes on Noto Sans (Google Fonts)
Even in the 2023 version of InDesign, using the following complex characters, Noto Sans Font, and Adobe World-Ready paragraph composer can cause the Indesign to crash or freeze. The list might be few more. Nothing wrong found in the fonts, only Indesign crashes. If use other fonts these characters are ok in Indesign.
Word file attached. Place this in Indesign and see the results.

[ID-4261000]Hebrew Text with Vowel Points Reorders Incorrectly When Pasted from InDesign to Word
When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.
One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own…

Can no longer filter on fonts with lining figures
Adobe InDesign version 14.0.2
I don't know when this started happening, but it's a big issue. It's no longer possible to filter fonts based on lining figures (that is, filter out old style figures). Here's what happens:
- With a text box selected, I click the dropdown arrow next to the font name in the Control palette.
- I click the Filter dropdown.
- With no filters selected, the font list looks as shown in the screenshot I'm attaching called Unfiltered. That screenshot shows a mix of fonts that have lining figures and those that don't.
- I select just the Lining…

Footnote: Problems with Small caps when using World-Ready Paragraph Composer
ID 23 and 24: When the Footnote Text Paragraph Style has World-Ready Paragraph Composer enabled, then there is a problem with formatting in the first line of the footnote: Starting from Footnote 10, the problem appears. When Small Caps is applied (via open type font) then the style is applied to 1 letter before the styled text range and 1 letter at the end of the text is not styled as should be. So the staling is shifted for 1 letter regarding the applied style. When the footnote number is 3 digits, then the styling is shifted by 2…
