1. Cannot resize Epub Interactivity Preview panel

   I can not resize the Epub Interactivity Preview Panel at all.
   I am using the latest InDesign CC 2018.

   SWF Preview panel is fine.

2. [ID-4273456] Press the opt/alt key after dragging, it duplicated to the incorrect layer

   InDesign 2026 （and earlier, too）I was found out in CS6.

   Issue:
   When drag and duplicate any object, the duplicate destination will be the previous active layer under certain conditions.

   Reproduction procedure:
   1 Layer panel "Paste Remembers Layers" check off
   2 Unselect, and duplicate the object Activate layers other than the layers of the object
   3 Start dragging and add the option/alt key in the middle of dragging
   4 After dragging, the object is duplicated to the layer that was active in step 2

   Ideal result:
   The uplication by dragging will be duplicated to the same layer as the original regardless of any setting.

   I really hope to correct it.

   理想の結果
   ドラッグによる複製はいかなる設定にも関係なくオリジナルと同一のレイヤーに複製されること

3. "Insufficient data for an image" error is shown on opening PDF in Acrobat

   We are experiencing issues with exporting to PDF. Hi res PDF Compatibility Acrobat 7 (PDF 1.6).
   The PDF is created normally, but when opening the PDF, it sometimes happens that the image is not displayed on one or more pages. The error message for this specific page is: ERROR: Insufficient data for an image.
   We tried to solve this problem within our team. Eventually, we discovered that the issue did not occur for one of our colleagues. Further investigation revealed that this colleague was still using an older version of InDesign (18.3). The colleagues experiencing problems had automatic updates enabled and were working on the new version 18.4. I then uninstalled my 18.4 version and reverted back to 18.3, and the PDF exports started working as before without the error message.

   I hope you can look into this and perhaps address it in the new InDesign version.

4. # in URLs of Hyperlinks in Hyperlinks panel is substituted with %23 when opened in browser from panel

   Hi together,
   when working with hyperlinks with URL destination an URL like:

   https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a#Siehe_auch

   will not be transferred to the browser as is when the menu command "Go to Destination" is used or if the "green" bullet in the panel is clicked that indicates a correct and connectable hyperlink destination.

   Instead character # will be substituted with %23 like that:

   https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/HTML/Elemente/a%23Siehe_auch

   The implication could be two-fold:
   [1] The browser could show an 404 error
   [2] The browser could not navigate to the named anchor and the view of the page is showing the top part of the page.

   The URL above will show error [2].
   This URL will show a 404 error:

   For the first error, the 404, I included screenshots and a sample InDesign document from InDesign 2023:

5. PDF/X-1a運用において、危険度が高い「画像の配置方法」を発見しましたので報告させていただきます。

   Indesign （15.1.3）（16.4）（17.3）などで以下の現象を確認できます。
   表を作成し、「セルをグラフィックセルに変換」という機能を使用せずに、空のままのセル内に画像を配置します。
   配置方法は、何も選択していない状態で「ファイル」、「配置」、画像を選択して「開く」、配置先のセルをクリックといったものです。
   この配置方法でドキュメントを作成し、「プリント」より出力して確認したところ何の問題もありません。
   印刷会社へ渡すためのPDF/X-1aを「書き出し」より出力します。
   期待する結果としては、「プリント」からの出力結果と同等のPDFが作成されることです。
   実結果は、Illustratorのドロップシャドウが黒ベタに、同ぼかし効果が無効に、Photoshopのレイヤマスクが黒ベタになったPDFが作成されてしまいます。
   以上です。

6. "Selection" and "Direct Selection" tool icons mixed up in toolbar

   The button images for "selection" and "direct selection" tools are mixed-up. The buttons are still in their correct place, but the "selection tool" button now displays the white arrow in the toolbar, the "direct selection" button the black arrow.

   The mouse arrows themselves remain correct, as do their functions.

   Instead of making a new package every time it would be really handy to be able to update an existing package.
   proposed Use Case/action:
   a new menu item: Update Package… > Show package in Finder/Windows Explorer > Only the items that are not in the existing package will be added (the items in the package that are not used will be kept in the updated package)

8. GREP search failed to match all text in a story

   We use to be able to search all text in a story by using this (?s).+ code. It’s working fine in CS6. But in CC2019, 2020, and 2021 on both Mac and Windows it will fail to select all text in the story if there is more than ~ 50000 character. Only the first ~ 50000 will be selected.

   This might be related to an old bug that was introduced in 14.0.2 that was fixed in 14.0.3.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Create a document with one story containing more than 50000 characters
   2. Do a GREP Find using (?s).+

   A similar issues when trying to use \X+ to select all text in a story. Only some portions of the text over multiple of ~ 50000 text will be selected.

   We use to be able to search all text in a story by using this (?s).+ code. It’s working fine in CS6. But in CC2019, 2020, and 2021 on both Mac and Windows it will fail to select all text in the story if there is more than ~ 50000 character. Only the first ~ 50000 will be selected.

9. Error on Save : "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged."

   Indesign constantly comes up with a weird error when ever I click save while in a document - 'Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged. click Ok.

   Also I know in the previous version that whenever I zoomed in too much I would get constant crashes. Hope it's been fixed in the version but I won't hold my breath.

10. InDesign is not correctly role mapping all paragraph styles to tags, when creating an accessible tagged interactive PDF

    I am using InDesign 15.1.1 to create several accessible, tagged PDFs.
     
    I have tagged every paragraph style correctly under the export tags for PDF (Edit all export tags > show: PDF), and I have left any list items and table of contents items with the default ‘Automatic’ tag.
     
    I am exporting as an interactive PDF with ‘Create tagged PDF’ checked. 
     
    Then when viewing the PDF in Acrobat Pro DC, in the Tags pane I have selected ‘Apply role mapping to tags’. This should ensure that in the tags pane in Acrobat, all my original paragraph style names are displaying as the tags that I have created. But this is not happening. I am finding that some of the tags are role mapping correctly, while several other tags are appearing incorrectly role-mapped with their original paragraph style names in place instead of the tags that I had assigned to them in InDesign.

    There seems to be no logic to this. This role mapping problem is occurring on every document I export as a tagged interactive PDF, no matter the size (i.e. from a small 12pp booklet to a large 125pp brochure). The only common characteristic is that the initial pages of the PDF have the tags correctly role mapped, but then as the document progresses some of the tags start to break down with their tags not appearing and instead their original paragraph style names are displayed. I have tried exporting the PDF from my another Mac and I get the same result.

    Today I have discovered something interesting: if I export just a few pages at a time then the role mapping is working correctly. The problem seems to occur when I export the full document – InDesign does not seem to be able to export all the information correctly en masse.

    Note: I have updated to InDesign 15.1.2 today and the problem is still occurring.

11. Relink from CC Libraries Sorting

    When Relinking assets in InDesign using "Relink from CC Libraries", the CC Libraries panel that shows isn't capable of having its sort order (date modified vs alphabetically) changed nor is it able to show Groups - please fix so it has the same view functionality as the regular CC Libraries Panel.

12. Adobe Fonts automatically substituting versions of fonts that are document-stalled

    When I open an InDesign file that has been packaged with all the fonts (non-Adobe Fonts) included in the Document fonts folder, if I happen to have the same version of the font activated in Adobe Fonts, InDesign automatically, and without warning, substitutes the Adobe Fonts version. This is a major problem. The heirarchy should be document-installed fonts FIRST, then InDesign can look in Adobe Fonts and suggest replacing it. This should not be done without warning in the background. It means that the person who was working in a package workflow without using any Adobe Fonts can send a file to another person using Adobe Fonts, who unbeknownst to them, substitutes the font, then packages and returns the file, and now the font is missing from the new package when returned. This is a huge licensing issue at the very least.

13. Publish Online feature has issues when viewed in iOS 13

    We are using the "Publish Online" feature inside Adobe Indesign to make some of our content available on our website. We've recently received reports from users with Apple iOS 13 mobile devices that the content is not displaying properly on those types of mobile phones. When the content first opens, if you double tap the page zooms in ok and double tapping again zooms out ok. However, if you try to pinch/zoom, the page blows up very large such that you can only see a couple words and you cannot pinch to get back out. Sometimes double-tapping again takes it back to a normal view, but often it zooms back out with part of the page cut off. This content was created using InDesign Creative Cloud 14. I spoke with tech support and she indicated a ticket was filed with the engineering team. Posting here as well for others to be aware and to receive updates!

14. Cmd-O or Cmd-N doesn't work after InDesign starts up.

    This has been an annoying bug for a while. If you open indesign, then use the command-O or command-N key to open/create a file, nothing happens. You just get an alert sound.

15. Reveal in Finder on NAS Server not working

    When using InDesign 14.0.3, on mac OS X Catalina (10.15.1), ctrl clicking the .indd file's title bar to reveal in finder doesn't work (switches to finder but doesn't reveal) if the .indd file is stored on NAS RAID server. Server connection is afp://
    Revel in Finder command works fine if the .indd file is stored locally.

16. Multiple listings of same font in Find Font menu

    There are multiple listings of the same font in the Find Font menu in CC2019. All information is the same, all applied characters are the same, but there is odd behavior.

    --FileACC2019WithDocumentsfontsfolder.png shows double listing of Trade Gothic LT Pro Roman.

    --FileACC2019WithoutDocumentfontsfolder.png (when I take away access to Document fonts folder, no other changes), one instance switches to "Regular" instead of "Roman"

    --FileACC2017WithDocumentfontsfolder.png shows what happens with I open this file in CC2017 (no double listing)

    --FileACC2017WithoutDocumentfontsfolder.png (Document fonts folder hidden) shows what happens with I open this file in CC2017 (no double listing)

    I process large volumes of files; this is not an isolated incident nor a corrupted file. Packaging results in InDesign only grabbing the single correct font file, so that isn't broken. This behavior with Find Font is seemingly new to CC2019 (I'm working on 14.0.2). The multiple listing of same font, variation of font name when fonts enabled/disabled, and Find Font showing fonts missing that aren't because of what seems to be a name issue in Find Font. Has something changed in the way that InDesign reads fonts/accesses Document fonts folders?

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!

    Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.

    For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.

    In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

18. Clicking document-installed font from font list gives error to "activate font" and doesn't change font.

    InDesign 14.0 on Windows 10 x64

    I just upgraded to InDesign 14.0, and there appears to be a bug when clicking a document-installed font from the font list. The font list gives an error message to "Click 'Activate' button to activate fonts" and the text frame keeps the existing font, instead of changing to the new font.

    Expected result:
    The expected result would be the same behavior as InDesign 13.1, where you could click a document-installed font from the font list, and the text frame would update to the newly selected font.

    Actual result:
    In InDesign 14.0, clicking a document-installed font from the font list gives an error message to "Click 'Activate' button to activate fonts" and the text frame font stays the same.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a new document in InDesign.
    2. Create a new text frame with the word "Test." Save and then close.
    3. In the same location as your new document, create a "Document fonts" folder. Copy an OTF or TTF font file into this folder. In my case, I copied "Sacremento-Regular.ttf" into this folder.
    4. Reopen the new InDesign document you saved in step 2.
    5. Select the text in the text frame. Note the current font (most likely Minion Pro).
    6. From the type list, select the document-installed font you copied into the "Document fonts" folder.
    7. Note the "Click 'Activate' button to activate fonts" error message, and that the font for the text frame has remained the same.

    Thank you for your patience all this while.
    This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

    Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
    Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.

19. Can't delete InDesign color swatch

    Documents inherit a swatch from a picked-up file and the swatch can not be deleted.

    1) This problem has existed for us since at least InDesign CS4 and persists through the current CC 2018 build (13.1).

    2) In the attached file, "Select All Unused" in the Swatches panel. There is no content at all in the file. All objects have been deleted, as have all text and object styles. Try to delete the unused process color swatch, "C=80 M=76 Y=70 K=73."

    3) We expect the unused swatch to be deleted.

    4) Trash can icon in Swatches panel is grayed out and unselectable.

    We have tried renaming the swatch, creating an identical swatch in Illustrator, placing and deleting both .ai and .eps files and merging the swatch with other swatches.

    This issue is also present in other legacy files with different swatches.

20. “Missing Fonts” Alert Is Not Displayed When “Embedded Profile Mismatch” Warning Appears on Document Open

    InDesign 2025 (20) and later
    macOS, Windows

    Steps to Reproduce

    1. Prepare an INDD file that satisfies both of the following conditions:
       • The document’s embedded color profile does not match the current Color Settings
       • One or more fonts used in the document are not installed on the current machine
    2. Open the INDD file.
    3. Observe the dialog(s) that appear.

    Expected Result

    Both alerts are displayed:
    1. The “Embedded Profile Mismatch” dialog appears first.
    2. After dismissing it, the “Missing Fonts” dialog appears as usual.

    Actual Result

    Only the “Embedded Profile Mismatch” dialog is shown. The “Missing Fonts” dialog is never presented. The missing fonts are highlighted in pink in the layout, with no opportunity to review or resolve them at open time.

    Additional Notes

    • In InDesign 2024 (19) and earlier, the “Missing Fonts” dialog appeared after the “Embedded Profile Mismatch” dialog as expected.
    • Since INDD files always embed a color profile, the “Embedded Profile Mismatch” dialog appears whenever the document’s profile differs from the user’s Color Settings, making this bug easy to trigger in typical production workflows.

    Impact

    When the color profile warning fires first, users are not notified of missing fonts. The missing fonts are silently substituted, making it highly likely that work or output will proceed with incorrect fonts. The only way to check for missing fonts is to manually open Type > Find Fonts… after the document is already open.

    Workaround

    On macOS only: dropping the file directly onto the InDesign application window avoids the issue. No workaround is available on Windows, or when using other open methods on macOS.

    • INDDファイルには必ずカラープロファイルが埋め込まれるため、ドキュメントのプロファイルとユーザーのカラー設定が異なれば必ずこの不一致ダイアログが表示される。これにより、通常の制作ワークフローでも本バグは容易に発生する。

    影響

    カラープロファイルの警告が先に発生した場合、ユーザーは環境にないフォントの存在を通知されない。気づかないままフォントが代替表示された状態で作業・出力が行われる可能性が極めて高い。環境にないフォントを確認するには、ドキュメントを開いた後に手動で「書式 > フォントの検索と置換...」を開くしかない。

    回避策

    macOSのみファイルをInDesignのアプリケーションウィンドウに直接ドロップして開くと本バグは発生しない。Windowsでは回避策なし。macOSでも他の開き方では回避できない。
