Crashes when changing font, copying text and saving as another file type
I have been tryin to open one of my 'old' Indesign files (2017). At the time I used Cross-References plugin DTP tools. I no longer use it. It keeps populating a notification that the plugin is missing, but it still opens the INDD document. I have tried saving the document—
1) as an IDML document and that does not work.
2) I have also tried saving as a new document but the issue remains the same.
3) I have tried copying the text from it to a new INDD document, it crashes every time and I have sent crash reports.…2 votesWe have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

Text boxes only showing the line I'm editing and not the entire paragraph
Not an idea. a bug.
Come on guys this is basic stuff - can barely layout info like this.
Text boxes only showing the line I'm editing and not the entire paragraph
This is constantly happening. I'm on the latest everything. M1 MacBook Pro.I have to zoom in and zoom out to fix. This is unworkable. Just get the basics right guys... Adobe is impossible for reasons like this. If you can't get the basics right - don't bother developing new features. No wonder Apple think you develop below par software. This is your job to develop software that…

In exported PDF, Hyperlinks jump to wrong page when their Text Anchor destination has moved to a different page due to reflow
Hi
In my InDesign file I have a Contents page with 10 hyperlinks to the first page of my 10 chapters. I created Text Anchor Hyperlink destinations on all 10 target pages, and then created Hyperlinks to them from the Contents page.
The document is 180 pages long and uses a Primary Text Frame, and all the text anchors are contained within the main text flow.
In 9 of these cases, clicking the hyperlinks in the exported PDF jumps to the correct page, but in one of them, clicking jumps to the NEXT page following the text anchor.
However, if…

Pasteboard flashes in sync cursor with GPU performance enabled
In my experience, this is a new issue arising with InDesign 2023. Anytime the cursor is active in a text frame, the pasteboard flashes in sync with the cursor. If I click another application so the cursor stops flashing, the pasteboard also stops flashing. If I select the frame or something else in InDesign so the cursor disappears, it stops flashing. But anytime the cursor is active and flashing, the pasteboard also flashes. It's very annoying and distracting, and assuming it's a graphics issue, I deactivated GPU Performance. This fixed the issue. I'm on iOS 11.6.7 (with Apple M1…

Programs hangs after having selected a text and then opening the font drop down list.
After having selected some text and then opening the drop down font menu, the program starts doing an infinte number of calculations and never stops (the CPU core being used is maxed and remains like that).
FFS hire someone who can fix it.. its been ages.

Indesign performance issue : slow opening, saving, exporting files
InDesign taking up to 5 minutes to open a file. The file is a one-page document. Two minutes of nothing, then 2 minutes of a blue status bar, then another minute watching the tiny status bar on the application icon in the doc. Once the file is "open" it isn't visible until I toggle back and forth between InDesign and another application. Saving, even after changing only one text character, takes 55 seconds. Exporting a 30 page document to PDF took 20 minutes.

Anchored frame looses the XML tag information as soon as anchor is released/anchor point is moved forward.
Steps to reproduce
Create an anchored text/graphic frame with some inline text/image. Tag the frame with some XML Tag (say 'tag1').
Now release the anchor.
Expected output
- On releasing the anchor, there should be no changes in the XML tag on frame.Actual output
- On releasing the anchor, the frame gets untagged.Additional note: Similar thing happens when anchor is moved forward to another position in inline text. In this case also, frames gets untagged

Footnote: Problems with Small caps when using World-Ready Paragraph Composer
ID 23 and 24: When the Footnote Text Paragraph Style has World-Ready Paragraph Composer enabled, then there is a problem with formatting in the first line of the footnote: Starting from Footnote 10, the problem appears. When Small Caps is applied (via open type font) then the style is applied to 1 letter before the styled text range and 1 letter at the end of the text is not styled as should be. So the staling is shifted for 1 letter regarding the applied style. When the footnote number is 3 digits, then the styling is shifted by 2 letters.

anchored object ignores textwrap of the first line
When anchoring an Object in a text and selecting the object to wrap around the text, the first line ignores this command.
When searching for a solution, i stumbled upon this entry describing the problem.the only solution seems to be to anchor the text in a previous line.
However, I want my textanchor to be on the right spot, so a screenreader can read it correctly - so anchoring it one line above is no option for me.
Is there a fix to this problem?6 votes -

[ID-4257732]CMYK color specified in MathML does not match the set value
InDesign 20.0 (2025)
Windows /macOSWhen I apply a preset or a newly created CMYK swatch to MathML, the color does not match the value.
It appears to be CMYK via RGB color.Original text (Japanese):
MathMLに対し、プリセットや新規作成したCMYKスウォッチを適用しても、その数値どおりのカラーになりません。
RGBカラーを経由してCMYKになっているように見えます。40 votesThank you for trying out the MathML feature in InDesign! The math objects created using this feature are placed as SVGs, and hence they exclusively support RGB colours. If you try to apply a non RGB colour (CMYK/LAB/HSV-based), then by design it is converted to RGB before it is applied to the math object. This conversion is designed to enable users to continue using document colours that are not RGB-based for the math object SVGs.

Non-breaking hypens and column break in linked word file does not work in InDesign
I have a word file linked to my InDesign document. However, it is not working as anticipated. Two examples:
* non-breaking hyphens in the word document disappears in InDesign
* manual column breaks in the word document becomes pages breaks in InDesign - I have tried to use a second text frame in the same page as a workaround, but the second frame remains empty (until moved to the next page).1 vote -
Paragraph style changes when copy/pasting
Indesign 13.1/13.0.1, macOS, UTS 6.1.5
When copy-pasting text or text frames from one document to another or even in the same document, paragraph style is changed to "standard copy".
The correct paragraph style is present, allocated and identical in all documents.
The paragraph style "standard"/"standard copy" is not present in any document (german version) before copy-pasting.8 votes -

[ID-4262670][ERROR(RSC-005) in EPUB Checker]InDesign 20.3 creates target attributes to every link in EPUB
The latest InDesign version (20.3) creates target="_blank" attributes to every link when exported as EPUB. Doesn't matter if the link contains URL or it's a link from a text anchor. The latest EPUB Check version (5.2.1) gives an error with every link that doesn't have href attribute which means every text anchor is invalid.
For example:
<h1 id="_idParaDest-1" class="Header-1"><a id="_idTextAnchor000" target="_blank"></a>Foreword</h1>In EPUB Check this is an error:
ERROR(RSC-005): Error while parsing file: element "a" missing required attribute "href"11 votesFix for this issue is now available in the latest InDesign Release – InDesign 20.4 Release.
Please update to the latest InDesign Release via CCD app to get the fix.

[ID-4224416]PDF comments: Delete <FEFF> marker after removal of all comments
After choosing »Delete all comments« from the fly-out menu of the PDF comments panel at every position, where a comment was before the removal, a <FEFF> char is left behind, which shows up as a zero-width colon (:), when special characters are turned on.
Since this is a useless char after deleting the comments, the <FEFF> should also be removed, when selecting the removal in the fly-out.
<FEFF> shows up with XML tags, notes and index markers, so we can’t simply do a TEXT search for <FEFF> to remove it.
BTW:
\x{feff} doesn’t work in GREP search, which is kind…49 votesThanks for reporting. We will review the issue shortly.
