Disappearing caption text
>>>When adding text to an existing caption in Adobe InDesign 2023, the entire caption disappears. To solve, I can widen the caption box, which our client's formatting specs do not allow, or adjust the text frame options to ignore text wrap, which distorts the horizontal scale of the text. How can I add text to captions without having to change my caption text box's layout?

InDesign Effects applied directly to Text do not update when the text is changed

InDesign online help lacks an important point (bug in help text, not in the app)
>>>You should mention in the online help text at >https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/frames-objects.html#object_export_options_cc_cs6_cs5_5> that a vector object's alt text will >not> be included in the epub file unless you also set the export settings to rasterize the object. (Basically: you can't include a vector object to an epub file in a vector format. Not even it's alt text.)

Assembled files in assignments crash regularly when updated
>>Assignments in Indesign regularly crash the program when parts need updating This is especially bad when an assigned part has been worked on in the assigned file or if the respective file runs over various pages or if it contains complex .ai-images. As soon as you click on the yellow icon to update a part Indesign crashes again and again. To solve the problem I have deleted certain text files completely from the assembly and reentered them afterwards, which is much more effort and doesn't always work.

Message about pasting text with endnotes shows up one paste later
>>Pasting text with endnote(s) does not show a message. You instead get that message the next time you paste an object, even if that object is not a text box containing endnote(s).
>>There is also a grammar error in the message, where the word "and" should be ", which" — and there is no period at the end of the sentence.
>>This has been in the last few versions of InDesign. I am using 15.0.1 now.

The character sequence -xx'-x crashes InDesign 2021 (v 16.0) on Mac
>>The sequence of letters -xx'-x crashes InDesign 2021 (v 16.0) as soon as you write this sequence yourself, copy or mark a letter from it (e.g. to change the text size) or do a search for this string, in a normal text field.
>>To reproduce the issue, simply write -xx'-x into a text field in InDesign 2021 or copy it into the text field. The X'x can be replaced here by other normal letters, upper and lower case doesn't seem to matter. The crash seems not to happen if the last X is a special character like

Distorted Text and Graphics in high sierra
>>>When opening a previously created file, I noticed small visual artifacts in the rendering of vector graphics in the file. As I zoomed in to inspect it, the artifacts began jumping all over the place, and as I zoomed in further, text on the page began presenting the same behavior.
>>Using InDesign 2017.1, Build 12.1.0.56 on a 2016 Macbook Pro (2.9 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 GB RAM), running macOS High Sierra 10.13.

219 votesThis is a macOS10.13 issue, specific for some Intel GPU cards. Apple has fixed(partially) this issue inside macOS10.13.4 released build.
Following are the workaround for resolving this issue.
1) Update your mac machine to latest macOS10.13.4. Here, Apple has fixed this issue to some extent. You will face very less number of rendering issues.
2) Disable GPU preview and set display performance as typical.Once you have updated to macOS10.13.4 .You might still face some rendering issues. Since, Apple has not fixed this issue completely.
Please switch off GPU rendering for these cases and report a separate post for tracking. -

InDesign CC 2018 ME text frame problem
>>>InDesign CC ME 2018
>>I work with international magazine. Usually I work with English text but once i a while I have to do some Arabic content. I installed Indesign CC 2018 ME on my machine and it works perfectly well except. When I create a new document in InDesign CC ME which is normal meaning reads from left to right and try to place a doc document into it text frame appears to be right to left and this issue is totally inconvenient.

alt text
>>Also category: Accessibility
>>I'm having a problem with the PDF tags when applying alt text to a group of items- a feature introduced in the most recent version of Indesign. Even though our articles panel shows separate articles, ALL of the content that comes AFTER a group tagged with alt text will have their exported tags all appear nested within that group as well, ignoring the structure set up in the Article panel. For example:
>>Article 1

>> Group with alt tag item in group Item in group more content

Text rendering bug – the edited text is rendered over older version of the text
>>>I work on a book. While editing the book, I face constant rendering issues: the updated text is rendered on top of the unaltered text. It happens irregularly many times a day. The problem is not document oriented nor platform specific. I started to make screenshots in March and the bug is still present.
>
> It is very annoying. The only solution is to switch to Selection tool and the change select the Text tool. If you seriously edit a document and you face rendering bugs every five minutes, it is pain **********.-

Please Allow Mutliple Text Modification!
>>I HATE that I have to literally individually select each text in order for me to manipulate it in any way whether its changing the colors or size or the formatting. Its SUPER annoying and makes me and most of my classmates want to avoid using inDesign at all costs. We use it because our teacher makes us and there aren't many ways to do text formatting on illustrator. But on illustrator it can be easily done by just selecting all the text or using the eyedropper tool. But on indesign there are these stupid useless features like text

Cursor spins and text display lags while typing
>>>ISSUE: While typing, text display will freeze/lag, and the cursor will change to a loading icon for about 2 seconds, then the text will finally appear all at once after the loading icon changes back to a regular cursor. This happens while typing in a regular text box.
>>EXPECTED RESULT: I expect text to appear on screen immediately as I press the key on the keyboard, not after a 2 second lag.
