Text Frame Options, Baseline Options, First baseline, Offset setting not respected
InDesign is changing the Text Frame Options / First Baseline / Offset to the default on existing documents.
I open a document where nearly all my text boxes were set to "Cap Height" and they have all been turned to "Ascent" and now no longer fit in their text boxes. I have to open a Text Frame Options, click Baseline Options tab, and pull down the First Baseline, Offset to Cap height FOR EVERY PAGE, (after selecting all and changing to the direct selection tool)!5 votes -
Accessibility Alternate Text Issues in Acrobat
The file is designed where certain graphic elements are grouped together to make editing easier for others. In this case, horizontal dividers are made from two basic rectangles and a text box, grouped together.
Each rectangle shape is tagged as "horizontal divider" in the export options for accessibility. When I export to PDF and run the full accessibility check, I'm told that the group failed the "figures alternate text" test.
I then apply alternate text to the group in the export options. I run the full accessibility check in Acrobat and I am told that everything inside the group…

[ID-4257175]Pages Panel: Buttons are hidden behind page number text when window is thin
When the pages panel is as thin as possible, the buttons such as delete page are behind the text that says the number of pages. It is therefore not possible to click on the buttons. I always use this panel in a thin band, and it is now less practical.

Missing ALT-Text in PDF
Since the latest update to InDesign 16.3.2 alternative text to hyperlinks and cross-references is not included in the <Link> tag of the exported PDF-document.
3 votesIt has been implemented this way as per Accessibility Requirements.
According to Accessibility Requirements, Alt Text should be placed under the /K Array in the Dictionary – please see attachment for more information.

undesired text reflow
When anchoring an object to which text wrap has been applied, the text in the paragraph receiving the anchor reflows in an undesired manner, affecting layout in minute but important ways. Trying to fit book copy around an image without creating spaciness within the shortened lines is hard enough without having all one's adjustments made null when the text shifts due to an anchor that has nowhere else it can be placed.

text box link
This is a bug affecting my Windows 10 version (18.3 x64) that has been happening for the last week or so, presumably with the latest update. Text box links will break for no reason leaving the content displayed in each text box as its new content. I actually watched it break the connection between the text boxes while I was doing nothing to my document.

Text formatting is lost when copy/pasting a text box to another document.
When Copying a text box from one document to another, the formatting is lost and is highlighted red (indicating missing font?). The font changes to from Arial to Helvetica as substitution.
Both documents are updated to the current file format.
The box copies and pastes as a basic text frame.I'm able to reformat everything to match the other document, but I don't know why it's losing the formatting.

Using Text Wrap causes InDesign to crash!
When I use the text wrap or copy/paste an object with text wrap applied, the program crashes.
I noticed this is only happening when I attempt to add them to a page that includes a table in it.

Text wrap should work normally with anchored objects
Just make text wrap on an anchored object work exactly as it does when you have a seperate object. Not sure what the point is of having it ignore the text wrap for objects above the line it's anchored to. I can always tell it to ignore if that's what I want.

InDesign performance issues: text tool
InDesign performance issues (version 15.1.1 x64 - 32GB RAM installed - Win 10 - Adobe Creative Cloud).
From the previous version the Text tool slows down the program considerably; it is not possible to work with at least two open files (I work with multiple open files, never a problem).
So the work is very slow !!! Please provide a solution. Thank you!4 votes -

text overlap
I'm using the Calendar Wizard template to create a calendar and quite often I find when I type text into the date window the text appears to overlap and I can't see what I'm typing (see image). This happens quite often and it's very frustrating. I'm using InDesign 2018 and I'm on a Mac with Mac OS Sierra. I would like to know how to fix this.

Column Rules fail if a Table is the first item in a Text Frame
(Hmm ... tried to attach an INDD file and I'm told they're not allowed. Really? OK ... will try a ZIP file with the INDD inside. Nope ... ZIP won't work either. Uploading a PNG screenshot)
Column Rules fail if a Table is the first item in a Text Frame
Please see the attached sample file.
On page 1 and 2 you will find a variety of 2-column frames with column rule applied.
In each case, the column rule will fail BECAUSE the first item in the frame is a Table. But, on page 2 I've added one extra example…
13 votesHi,
The feature is working as expected. As soon as you add some text below the table, the Column Rules work fine.—

Autosize text boxes not refreshing
InDesign 17.3
Autosize textbox with anchored autosize text boxes, if the anchored textbox resizes to match the text, often, the parent autosize text box does not change to accommodate it. The child text box increases size and overlaps the text boxes or other anchored items around it. A provisional fix is to manually resize the parent textbox which causes a refresh. The refresh should be automatic.1 vote
