cross-references bug introduced with 2018.1 update
The 2018.1 "search" added to cross-references is great and will be very helpful. Unfortunately it appears that a bug was introduced in the process of adding this feature.
When you double-click on a cross-reference in the Cross-References panel, it opens the Edit Cross References window. This used to open the window to the cross-reference you selected so you could edit it. Now, it opens the window at [All Paragraphs] with the first paragraph in this list selected.
This is a MESS for my workflow, as I now have to search through the cross-references to find and select the one I want to edit. Fortunately, it is easier to do this now that the search box is there – but it’s an extra step that requires typing the cross-reference into the search box to find it.
Hopefully you guys will be able to fix this soon so double-clicking on a cross-reference in the panel works the way it did before. Thanks!
This issue was fixed in ID CC2019 version.
Please update to the latest version of InDesign available via Creative Cloud application.

Just wondering how this bug was going.
Editing a cross-reference does indeed reset the reference - so every time you edit you have to re-select it.
It's bearable for me with on 50 or so CRs, but for others with hundreds it would be very time consuming.I'm just making sure that I have my format, type, style etc. exactly what I want in my documents so I don't have to go back and re-reference them again.
I'm guessing it's the Search box that is resetting the CR.
ALSO NOTE that another very minor bug is that within the CR Search box the hint text, or "Placeholder" text (in HTML terms), when the input is not selected (doesn't have focus), is almost unreadable as it is very dark on the standard dark background.
Hope we get an update soon! Love & good tidings from Sydney.

Same here as well.
On my computer, the "New cross reference" window takes over 9 full Minutes to load, presumably because it loads the list for "All paragraphs" by default, which turns out to be catastrophic for my workflow due to the massive amount of paragraphs in my document, which is over 300 A4 pages long and contains a huge amount of tables, picture descriptions as well as titles and subtitles. I'm working a lot with cross references in order to provide easy navigation within the exported PDF document.
I suggest either pre-selecting for example "No paragraph format" for a smaller list or use a virtual list that only loads 100 items at a time, or something along those lines. Loading the list asynchronously might work as well, so window opens and is responsive, while the list keeps loading. I have of course no idea how it's implemented and how complex this loading process is and the above suggestions are just from the top of my head.
Whatever the solution may be, the current state is unacceptable to me when I have to spend around an hour to add or edit 7 new cross references.

Same here. Either let the user disable the search feature or don't liste "All paragraphs" because there can be 1000s. While working on this please finally add a feature to sort the listed items alphabetically, especially when it's numbered headlines.

Hello
Same problem :
In Design hangs indefinitely when I open the "Cross Reference" dialog box since I have imported a big excel table. Each time we have to wait 5 minutes for adding, editing and deleting cross references
The document is approx. 200 A4 pages, and approx 170 cross references for now.PC Windows 7 Pro, 16 Go RAM, Intel(R), Xeon(R) CPU E3-1220 v5 3.00GHz, In Design CC2018
Please solve this as soon as possible !!

Hello!
I've got the same problem. I work a lot with x-ref (I'm a technical writer) and on a 200 pages manual it's a big trouble! -

I have the same problem, please solve this as soon as possible. It cost me a lot of time to search through the cross-references every time.
