2. Paragraph Style won't override

   1. InDesign 2020 (15.0)

   NOTE: I'm a designer with 22 years experience. I know part of this is 'sloppy' formatting on my part. But since switching to InDesign from QuarkXPress 15 years ago, I've never encountered this 'bug' before.

   1. I have a document with multiple 'old' Paragraph Styles. It's a multiple page document. A number of paragraphs have a style applied, but I've overridden them with other formatting.

   The easy but lengthy fix would be to fix the Paragraph Style, but I was on a tight deadline.

   PROBLEM:
   When I try to override the Paragraph Style with other formatting, the Character Palette confirms my change, but the formatting is NOT applied.

3. custom workspace save overwrites all

   Running ID 15.0 on Mac OS 10.13.6

   I have multiple custom workspaces depending on if I am working at home, the office or remotely.

   Any time I save a workspace, regardless of if it is a new workspace or overwriting an old one, it changes all of my workspaces to the most recent saved version.

   Effectively, I only have one custom workspace now. Any suggestions?

4. Export as InDesignMarkup (IDML) ignores the color profile

   When exporting an indd-file as an IDML-file we've experienced a problem. In the original file there's an embeded a specific color profile (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)).
   If we check the exported idml file we found out that InDesign ignores the specific color profile and resets the profile to it's standard profile (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)) - which is not the desired profile and not suitable for our european print environment.

   That was the reason of some color problems with some printing stores or agencys we're working with in the past.

   At this time we couldn't find a solution or workaround for that... so we ask the developers to fix this as soon as possible.

   Do you need anything else for the solving of this issue.

5. InDesign crashes on launch in "PlugPlugOwl.dll"

   InDesign 2019 doesn't open after the first loading box on startup. I downloaded 2018, 2017 and 2015. 2015 is the only one that works at the moment but the others have the same issue.
   My computers processor is Intel Pentium 1.5 GHz
   I've attached the crash report.

   Closing this thread.

   The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
   If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
   Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

6. delete button doesn't work

   Sometimes the delete button on keyboard just quits working for no reason. When I close ID and reopen it with the file again, the delete button is working OK again.

7. error encountered reading image

   1. InDesign CC 2019 (14.0)
   2. Import large clipped .psd file (~880 mb) into mechanical
   3. Image placed as requested
   4. Error message received suggesting image is corrupt (note: export of InDesign file as idml and opened in 2018 to import image achieves desired result, suggesting image is not corrupt)

8. InDesign crashes on launch with Faulty module "PMRuntime" unless launched as Administrator or Creative Cloud Application

   Issue: InDesign CC will not open from the Start Menu unless "Run as administrator" is selected. This is not an option for standard users.

   It will open OK from the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

   Event viewer log is generated showing the following:
   Faulting application name: InDesign.exe, version 13.1.0.76
   Faulting module name: PMRuntime.dll, version 5.0.0.191

   Also occurs with version 12.1.0.56
   Windows OS: Windows 10, version 1803 (Build 17134.165)

   There appears to be an issue with security permissions or a compatibility issue with the latest Windows 10 build.

   Thank you for patience while we were investigating into the root cause of the issue.
   During our investigation we identified that the issue manifests due to Symentec DLP antivirus software.

   Please find below steps to whitelist the application:
   1. From the Enforce console select System > Agents >Application Monitoring.
   2. Select the application to white list. If it is not listed, click on “add application” and provide at least one of the required application binaries.(Refer to Symentec DLP_Console.png for reference)
   Note: DLP attempts to validate every field populated. We recommend using as few as fields as needed. If the whitelist seems to fail, try changing which required field is populated or removing one of the other fields.
   3. Uncheck all of the detection channels under the “Application Monitoring Configuration.”
   4. Click on save and verify the application in the list of monitoring activities is unchecked.
   5. After making these changes, test the whitelisted application to see if the issue is resolved.

9. Abstürze nach Wechsel von CS6 zu CC

   Ich arbeite an einem Buch mit vielen Abschnitten, einzelne davon wurden in CS6 bearbeitet und dann brauchte ich CC für die weitere Arbeit. Da in den Voreinstellungen für CC das Wörterbuch "Duden" und "Duden tolerant" empfohlen wird, stellte ich dies entsprechend ein. Unter CS6 war nur "Hunspell" oder "Proximity" möglich. Ich wollte aber weiter dasselbe "Benutzerwörterbuch" verwenden, da ich viele Fachwörter und Eigennamen etc. verwende, die nicht im Duden sind. Nach diesem Wechsel stürzte InDesign CC beim Öffnen von CS6 Dokumenten ab. Ich versuchte es mit System- und NVRAM-Resets. Ohne Erfolg. Es funktionierte nur, indem ich vor jedem Öffnen von InDesign die *.idlk-Dateien löschte, und erst ein neues CC- vor einem CS6-Dokument öffne. Nach vielen weiteren, zeitraubenden Versuchen gelang eine "absturzfreie" Arbeit über 20 Abschnitte eines Buches. Man konnte oft geänderte Dokumente (alle mit gleichen Voreinstellungen Wörterbuch) öffnen, aber es folgte nach einiger Arbeit, wie beim Einsetzten oder Überarbeiten von Text, wiederum Abstürze, die nur mit Neustart des iMac und Löschen von *.idlk-Dateien zu beheben waren.     InDesign 14.0.1

    1. Switch to InDesign from another program
    2. Select either Selection Tool or Direct Select tool
    3. Double click on the text to place a cursor among the text
    4. Double click again to select a word

    Expected result: quick action from step to step

    Actual result: a few seconds of lag

12. Lag in InDesign 14.0.1 when doing ANYTHING.

    Lag in InDesign 14.0.1 when doing ANYTHING. Every time I click my mouse, make a move, do a single thing there is a 20-40 second LAG. This is beyond annoying. I am on a very tight deadline just like 99% of your other users. YOU NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT ADOBE!!!!! And don't you dare tell me it's been figured out. I'm starting a new post per your request on March 26, 2019. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

13. BUG Keypress doesn´t respond

    With updating to 13.1 March 2018 Update: When you type to a text frame you have to do it twice before the character appears in the frame. I have this problem on two Windows 10 machines...

    Thank you for your support all this while. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
    Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

    If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

14. more than one file opens

    When I open a file from the thumbnail preview image screen, another file always opens with it. This is very confusing if I work on multiple files that look similar in layout. If I open a file the old way from the File pull down menu, this issue never occurs. Having the thumbnail image preview screen of files is handy, but counter-productive if this bug continues to exist. And it has existed for several months.

15. Choose image among several

    In CC2019 Indesign, when importing several pictures at once and trying to place them in prepared frames, the right arrow to select next image doesn't work properly (slow reaction and only shows next picture while placing cursor on next frame or displaying an image but loading an other one in the frame). Worked well in CC2018. Is this a bug and if yes, how to fix it?

16. Highlighting text in a table does not highlight the corresponding text in the story editor

    CC2020

    When I highlight text in a table, I would expect the same text to appear highlighted in the story editor. Instead, the story editor jumps to the beginning of the document.

    As per our discussion, the issue is not with the thumbnail on the links panel, but rather the one on the place dialog.

    This thumbnail is governed by the OS and Windows OS does not generate the psd thumbnail and just shows the psd file icon as the thumbnail.

18. Indesign 14.0.3 crashes on export to PDF when printer's marks checked

    Indesign crashes on export to pdf, but only when printer’s marks are checked.

    I have removed prefs and cache from the library
    I have removed the app entirely and reinstalled 14.0.3

    Indesign crashes regardless the contents in the document, even empty documents crash like any other.

    I’m running iOS 10.14.6 on a macbookpro mid 2014

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!

    Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.

    For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.

    In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

    Hi. I think I might have found a bug.

    (It works if 'Search' is set to Document.)
