1. Show Page Dimensions permanently in Document Window

   With more than one tool to change general/individual page sizes, keeping an eye on these numbers is crucial.

   Please make page dimensions visible at all time – e.g. in the slug/pasteboard area next to every page or in the Pages thumbnails, at least as some kind of tooltip or popup info. This behavior could be activated with a preferences checkbox. Thanks.

2. Adjust Styles when you Adjust Layout

   Discovered that when you use the new adjust layout option to change a document from an A3 to and A4 (for example), the character and paragraph styles already applied when it was A3 do not change to reflect the new text size that has been adjusted when going to A4. So when you go to apply a style to a new piece of text, the formatting is wrong. It also removes the styles that have been previously applied to some of the text. I have searched for a work around and cannot locate one.

   Could you please add an option/check box in the adjustment layout window that you can apply the text size adjustment to styles? This will save a lot of formatting time, especially if you're in a work environment where you are producing presentations and portfolios constantly, coping text, importing tables and need to apply styles, etc.

3. Clear All Style Sets—Right from the Style Set Menu

   Since there are a lot of windows to get to the OpenType Style Sets, we need a button that can clear all the opentype features we've tried out. This can be put into the Stylistic Sets Menu. (See attached picture.)

   This isn't just valuable to me. This is valuable to:
   1. Other users can feel free to use style sets, knowing that they can quickly clear all options, not spend minutes clicking through menus—Just to turn something off!
   2. Font designers might add more features into their fonts if the features are easier to use.
   3. You've already made that opentype feature button when you highlight, thank goodness for that! We just need a better way of clearing the style.
   4. This allows a lot of utility to the end user, but since it's just a simple menu button, with a simple function it won't really take as many man hours to implement.
   5. Your product becomes even more indispensable to type enthusiasts.

   (This can also be implemented in the Opentype Tab of the Character Styles menu.)

   Basically, this will make a lot of more advanced users happy with very limited downside to Adobe. I have attached a picture of how this might look.

   PS If the above idea is too difficult to implement, here's an even easier one: At the very least, if the menu behavior was different, it would save us a lot of clicking. And it's just this simple thing: Keep up the menu after I or another user click on a style set. That way, we users can choose multiple type options.

   It's that simple.

   This goes for the Entire Menu, once you've clicked on "OpenType."

   Additionally, since the behavior is so subtle, I believe most users won't even know the menu behavior changed, but might just feel like, "Wow, this menu is so much easier to use."

   Easy to implement, a lifesaver for those of us who spend all day clicking through these menus!

4. Please enable pinch zoom in and zoom out using a touchpad on Window 10 in Adobe InDesign 2024

   My Surface laptop does not enable me to pinch zoom in and zoom out using a touchpad on Window 10 in Adobe InDesign. I was previously using a mac with a magic trackpad and had no issues zooming in and out in Adobe programs. I realize I can use work-arounds like CTRL + / -, but this takes more time and I have less control.

5. Support format style merging

   When working on a document based on some template, it is often more convenient to alter paragraph styles (object and character styles, equally) in the current document, creating the need to check and evolve the template afterwards.
   Luckily InDesign has the function to load styles from another document. This dialogue has some flaws and should be improved:
   - Selection: apart from "select all" and "deselect all", there should also be the option to "select modified", that is, only those styles which differ
   - definition display:
   * these displays are very small and do dot scale with the rest of the window
   * they do not scroll in parallel, making a comparison of long settings difficult

6. Restore adjustment arrows in Transform window for X/Y and W/H values

   When InDesign updated to the 2024 version, I lost the ability to use the Essentials Classic layout with the Properties bar at the top instead of the right, and in the Transform window, either as part of the Properties bar or on its own, lost the up and down adjustment arrows with seemingly no way to bring them back. I prefer being able to make tiny adjustments by sixteenth increments rather than at random or just eyeballing it and this change is absolutely driving me insane. I've rolled back to the previous version for now, but I know you all won't let that stand for long. Please restore the option to have incremental adjustment arrows and a top bar for Properties.

7. Add an import options dialogue for importing InCopy documents into InDesign

   Just like when importing Word documents, you can select what stylesheets and attributes to bring into the InDesign or InCopy document, add the same options dialogue window when importing InCopy documents into InDesign. Oftentimes the writer of the InCopy story doesn't use the same stylesheets as the InDesign document. In my case, I build newspapers and we are constantly improving the design and simplifying the naming process for stylesheets. The reporters forget to use the template and therefore old styles or misnamed styles get brought into the document. There are ways around this of course, but when I need to import 50-80 stories and format them within 4 hours, it's a pain.

9. Spinning Beachball Details

   When we get the dreaded spinning beachball (and Window equivalent), which seems to happen more and more with each new InDesign version, can we get some sort of real-time detailed report?

   It'd be helpful to know what's going on in the moment so we can take action if necessary. As it is, we have no idea if InDesign is functioning properly or not, if there's a memory shortage, if there's a font conflict, and on and on.

   It seems that the app must "know" what's wrong, to generate the spinning beachball -- so why leave users in the dark? We're left to guess whether to just wait (and how long) or to take action. Sometimes this goes on for literally minutes when, apparently, InDesign is just doing its job. But we have no clue.

    I am using Middle East InDesign, with English/Arabic language app option.

    I have been informed by Adobe Support that v14.0.1 has removed Paragraph Direction all together. Since I have to work with Arabic frequently, this is VERY disruptive since Arabic is written right to left. It seems that even Change Text Direction has even been removed from the Character window options, so I can't find any possible workaround.

    I don't understand how any users that need Right to Left written languages will even be able to use your updated products anymore.

    Please restore this feature or a feature that can achieve the same result.

11. Add the ability to select a parent for the following page or spread.

    In the "Parent Options" dialog box (on Windows, though I'm sure it's pretty consistent cross-platform) there's the options for the current spread.

    What if we could add a limitation that allowed you to specify the parent style for adding pages?

    For example, if I had a chapter head page, having it be able to automatically switch to the standard body parent would be a time saver for that highly repetitive task.

    The option would be after "Number of Pages" and probably say something like "Parent for Following Page" with a selector for the existing parents, and another selector with "Following Page" and "Following Spread" as options.

    Not sure how it would all look, but that's the core of the idea.

12. Make Table of Contents menu robust and intuitive

    Make Table of Contents intuitive. It's a powerful tool, and yet difficult to set up even for an experienced user. The navigate the setup menu is static but closes every time. The explanations are poor, and impossible to navigate without watching a bunch of tutorials (and the user manual is not helpful either). Because the layout formating is done in paragraph styles it's difficult to know what and where to change to get a specific result. This software is supposed to make creating a long document easy and yet formatting a TOC requires so much pre-knowledge without any directions in the menu on where to find that info. A menu window instead of a pop-up would help, with more context text to guide a user towards the proper places to set up formatting.

13. Duplex options in print dialog

    I would like to be able to set duplex on / off and flip direction in the print dialog.

    How it is currently setup, I have to change the printer, click "Setup..." which gives a warning about settings conflicts, click "OK", change the printer again (because I'm not using the default), scroll down to "More Settings", click "More Settings", navigate the HP print settings to adjust duplex settings, click "ok", click "print"

    I would like the duplex settings brought out to the main print dialog because going through about 10 steps to change 2 settings is a huge waste of time. Not to mention that I can't save the print preset because the duplex settings were adjusted in the windows print settings

14. Why is there no copy filename only option when you right click on an image in the link window?

    Never figured it out, was it forgotten or did Adobe feel it wasn't needed?
    It's necessary when links are missing and you need to find images.

16. One language for the app interface, another for the shortkeys

    It would be G R E A T if you could install the english version of InDesign, but use shortcuts for a non english keyboard, since many of the english shortcuts don't work when you use a non english keyboard.

    This is actually a problem in all Adobe apps and not just InDesign.

    Please don't tell me to switch to ENG in Windows 10 since I want to be able to type in swedish...

    And don't tell me to manually go through all shortcuts and change them one by one. I shouldn't have to do that every time I install an Adobe app.

    There must be hundreds of thousands of users around the world annoyed by this... it would be such a simple feature to add.

17. Option for fly-out menus to open to the right.

    Would it be possible to have an option for the fly-out menus to open to the right to keep the live page area fully visible? It's hard working on spreads in book interiors because any window open covers part of the text. If I have room to shift the spread over, InDesign automatically re-centers the spread when I turn to the next page. (Sample window was chosen in PNG because it's generic.)

19. Application retain windown size and position

    On open, have InDesign's application window return to the size and position it was in when the application was last closed. The way Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Dreamweaver, etc..., do when they are closed and then reopened.

20. Rename Hyperlink

    Add the 'rename hyperlink' option to the 'edit hyperlink' window. I find it essential to identify hyperlinks by their names. But I often edit them. After I edit a link, and I want to rename it to better identify it, I have to open a new window just to rename it. This is quite inefficient.

    In the Hyperlinks panel, with the Name of hyperlink shown highlighted, clicking once more on the highlighted name enables you to ‘rename’ the hyperlink right there.
