Update links automatically
Currently, when I want to update an image link that has moved, I copy the name of the image to be linked, then "update link" and paste the name of the link in the search field to find all instances on my system. This should be automatized with a function like "search and update" that allows you to then choose which version of the link you'd like (in case of duplicate names). As far as I know this doesn't exist yet.

I just wanted to add something to that great idea:
we have files, where there are a lot uf subfolders with files, where not only the names of the files change over time (month/year in the filename) but also the folder names. It would be great if the "search for missing links in this folder" checkbox would get an addition to be able to search in this folder AND ALL SUBFOLDERS for missing links. that would delete about 60% of the time I work in indesign with something that computers can and could do. -

Yes! Just like there is an option for "Update All Cross References." The new "Update all Links" feature should be in the Book panel. There should be a dialog box where you can choose to ignore options or show options.

Yes please. When it's a group of the same links (more than one same link), you have to right-klick on a different place to copy the name. It's very circuitous and should be much more easier (refresh all missing links in one step and Indesign will automatically search for the name on my hard-disk (intern or extern)! If I have 100 missing links that would be save a lot of time …
