1. Unequal inset values in an Object Style don't display in a text frame if corners are rounded

   If you use an object style with unequal inset spacing and apply it to a text frame, the unequal spacing is ignore and made uniform.

   Steps to recreate:
   1. Create an Object Style
   2. Go to 'Text Frame General Options' for that style
   3. Set unequal values for 'Inset Spacing'
   4. Go to 'Stroke & Corner Cptions'
   5. In 'Corner Options' set 'Rounded'
   6. Create a Text Frame
   7. Fill Text Frame with placeholder text
   8. Apply Object Style to Text Frame

   Result: unequal inset spacing is ignored.

   If you apply unequal inset spacing manually there are no problems — unless you apply a corner rounding greater than 6mm, at which point unequal spacing is ignored.

   As an addendum to this: object styles seem quite buggy generally. For example, if you set an initial paragraph style and select 'apply next' then later edit the paragraph style, the text frame doesn't always display the changes.

2. Have the option to use IMAGES for Paragraph: RULES, BORDERS, and SHADING

   Paragraph Rules, Borders, and Shading are all great. They are also all: flat, uniform...boring...

   Sometimes a layout demands stuff that is more...messy. Clients often ask for 'grungy' effects to highlight specific parts of text, and every designer gets what they mean.

   I currently use an anchored image to achieve this, but it's fiddly, and easily broken. It requires scripting or tedious CandP.

   Adding an IMAGE option to Paragraph (and Character?) styles would be brilliant. When I'm working on webpages, I'm using 'background' in CSS all the time.

4. Arched Text similar to Illustrators Envelope.

   I would love to see your team make an envelope “arching text” type of option similar to how Illustrator does it, especially if it could maintain its text editing capabilities. This would be very helpful because there are times when I am doing a Banner or Plaque or some other type of layout and the client requests arched text for the individuals names, and this can sometimes number in the range of 50-75 names. And having the arched text feature would allow me to create a master page for the general design template, and link the text boxes so the names could simply be pasted in, and take on the arched effect. I would still need to go back and adjust some of them but it would be faster than having to arch them all in Illustrator and then link them to my template in In-Design. Sorry so wordy. :)

8. Hyperlink Window Add-on Feature

   I know i'm not the only one who uses the typography workspace. But when creating an interactive PDF or E-Catalog of sorts hyperlinks can be one of the finest features. The problem: editing said hyperlinks. Not the editing of the links themselves but the fact that in order to we have to have our type cursor in or on the link. What about adding a button in the hyperlink window to speed up workflow for individuals who use the hyperlinks exclusively?

9. Stop hiding the known issues, and release notes for each release

   Where's the link that leads to the latest releases known issues list? It's hard enough to find the release notes for the newest version release.

   It should be a simple link right under the is this compatible with your computer info in The creative cloud desktop app.

   I need the list of known issues with the latest release to determine whether or not I'm going to upgrade to it or wait until a critical issue is resolved.

   Sometimes an issue will not be in the feature I use so I will update other times it is something that will majorly break my workflow. I should not have to come to the bugs forum to find the known issues, and the bugs form is unreliable because it doesn't tell me if it's a universal issue or user level issue.

   I need to be able to judge that before installing the update. Stop hiding the known issues, and release notes for each release and keep them up-to-date.

11. "Yes to All" button when edits have been made to the imported version of a file location.

    The lack of a "Yes to All" button when updating all links to a file location is debilitating. I literally have to press enter almost 3,000 times every time that InDesign notifies me that...

    "Edits have been made to the imported version of "document name.here". You will lose these edits (with the exception of changes applied to spreadsheets through cell styles or table styles) when you update the link. Update anyway?"

    The only options are "Yes" or "No" which requires me to sit there and hit the enter button for each pop-up message for an hour! Not to mention that all of my changes are always applied via cell and table styles, so the message doesn't even apply to me. Because of my regular work in these large project sizes, I have to do this 3,000 enter button dance several times per week. It is a pretty infuriating waste of time for an easy "Yes to All" button addition.

12. Tagging/Notifications for Guests

    I use the Share for Review feature mostly with users who do not have or need Adobe licenses - and for security all documents have to be password protected. Therefore, most of my reviewers are 'guests' and only receive notifications if I reply to something they said. If I add a new comment on my own, or revise text or try to direct their attention to a new Pin, they do not receive any kind of notification. It would be useful if I could tag guest users via their email address and they could get an email. If this is how it works now I cannot seem to get it to work properly.

    A general message when the link is updated would also be nice for all users.

13. Enable surveys to be embedded in Publish Online documents.

    It would be great, since many people use PublishOnline to generate newsletters and other similar types of documents that are sent to a large audience, to be able to input simple responsive forms (essentially surveys) of 1-5 questions that send answers back to a programmed space either within PublishOnline's dashboard or to a designated space. Or, allow us to embed suveymonkey javascript survey code somewhere so we can track it that way. I was recently asked if I could add a one question pulse survey to my newsletter I create with PublishOnline and can't find an easy solution without just putting a link to go to surveymonkey (and we'd lose most opportunities for responses if we required more than one click to get a response).

14. Establish a display of current baseline grid “increment every ##pt” and also a link to change in the paragraph styles menu.

    I teach design at the Univ of MN. I stress the importance of utilizing baseline grids, but students are constantly confused how to establish and modify them despite my best efforts. For how vital baseline grids are, the modification of their settings seem very hidden with the settings panel. Also the language surrounding baseline grid is vague — align to grid could mean the square grid, the column/margins grid, or the baseline grid.

    By establishing a display of the current baseline grid settings in the paragraph styles (indents & spacing), a more obvious connection to that grid would be created. Including a button in the Paragraph Style/Indents & Spacing that allows the user to jump to Settings/Grids would also allow an easier back and forth of document setup.

    Finda out wether a certain file is used, is manual labour in InDesign.
    What, if the Links Tab had a search/filter field (like in After Effects' timeline and project panels).

    Find by name, filter by kind.

16. Copy text from the Indesign Review panel, into my text in my Indesign file.

    I work a lot with the review links, and I can copy text from the webbrowser review panel; but not from the review panel in Indesign itself. Which makes that If I need to copy a piece of text; written by my reviewers, to adjust in the copy of my file, I have to go to the web version of the link, copy there, go back to ID, find the piece of copy I want to adjust and paste it in there. Very time consuming work around.

    Can this be fixed?

17. Tool to review for performance issues

    It would be great if there was a tool similar to preflight that reviewed documents for potential performance issues and not just errors. Like if one link is massive and slowing everything down, if a table is causing issues, or especially if a hyperlink is going to open another document to get to hyperlink info (sidenote: copying hyperlinks from other documents is a nightmare, why does it default to opening the other indd file instead of just copying the link info?).

18. Hyperlinks report

    The Hyperlinks panel needs to be better overhauled please. I have a 300 page magazine with hyperlinks in each section (different sections provided by a team) ... so a Report Hyperlinks option would be very useful please, in the same way you can generate a Report in the Links panel.

19. Allow linked excel table to thread inside text thread

    Its possible to insert linked excel table in text. But in this case table doesnt thread to the next page when it is long. From the othe side it`s possible to insert linked excel table as new story (as separate frame).In this case table threading is OK.But in this case you have to look for continuity of your document because there is no possibility to glue frames of text and tables to each other to provide continuity.

20. Multiple footnote groups/storys on one story.

    It would be very useful if it is possible to have 2 [or more] footnote groups on 1 story.

    For example, I have a main text, then there are 2 commentary texts, that both are linked with numbers [like footnotes] to the main text; & they are separately numbered & in separate frames.

    Would be amazing!!!
