Have the option to use IMAGES for Paragraph: RULES, BORDERS, and SHADING
Paragraph Rules, Borders, and Shading are all great. They are also all: flat, uniform...boring...
Sometimes a layout demands stuff that is more...messy. Clients often ask for 'grungy' effects to highlight specific parts of text, and every designer gets what they mean.
I currently use an anchored image to achieve this, but it's fiddly, and easily broken. It requires scripting or tedious CandP.
Adding an IMAGE option to Paragraph (and Character?) styles would be brilliant. When I'm working on webpages, I'm using 'background' in CSS all the time.

Tagging/Notifications for Guests
I use the Share for Review feature mostly with users who do not have or need Adobe licenses - and for security all documents have to be password protected. Therefore, most of my reviewers are 'guests' and only receive notifications if I reply to something they said. If I add a new comment on my own, or revise text or try to direct their attention to a new Pin, they do not receive any kind of notification. Copy image number only for Adobe Stock Preview images.

Enable surveys to be embedded in Publish Online documents.
It would be great, since many people use PublishOnline to generate newsletters and other similar types of documents that are sent to a large audience, to be able to input simple responsive forms (essentially surveys) of 1-5 questions that send answers back to a programmed space either within PublishOnline's dashboard or to a designated space. Or, allow us to embed suveymonkey javascript survey code somewhere so we can track it that way. Hyperlink Window Add-on Feature
I know i'm not the only one who uses the typography workspace. But when creating an interactive PDF or E-Catalog of sorts hyperlinks can be one of the finest features. The problem: editing said hyperlinks. Not the editing of the links themselves but the fact that in order to we have to have our type cursor in or on the link. What about adding a button in the hyperlink window to speed up workflow for individuals who use the hyperlinks exclusively?

Copy text from the Indesign Review panel, into my text in my Indesign file.
I work a lot with the review links, and I can copy text from the webbrowser review panel; but not from the review panel in Indesign itself. Which makes that If I need to copy a piece of text; written by my reviewers, to adjust in the copy of my file, I have to go to the web version of the link, copy there, go back to ID, find the piece of copy I want to adjust and paste it in there. Very time consuming work around.
Can this be fixed?

Stop hiding the known issues, and release notes for each release
Where's the link that leads to the latest releases known issues list? It's hard enough to find the release notes for the newest version release.
It should be a simple link right under the is this compatible with your computer info in The creative cloud desktop app.
I need the list of known issues with the latest release to determine whether or not I'm going to upgrade to it or wait until a critical issue is resolved.

Have InDesign be able to open a collect and fonts even if the collect is renamed or moved so that the font/link won't get broken

Hyperlinks report
The Hyperlinks panel needs to be better overhauled please. I have a 300 page magazine with hyperlinks in each section (different sections provided by a team) ... so a Report Hyperlinks option would be very useful please, in the same way you can generate a Report in the Links panel.

Multiple footnote groups/storys on one story.
It would be very useful if it is possible to have 2 [or more] footnote groups on 1 story.
For example, I have a main text, then there are 2 commentary texts, that both are linked with numbers [like footnotes] to the main text; & they are separately numbered & in separate frames.

Double truck - object that spreads across gutter
Ability to link object that spreads across double truck to both pages so that when document is viewed or exported as single pages, the object appears on both pages.

"Yes to All" button when edits have been made to the imported version of a file location.
The lack of a "Yes to All" button when updating all links to a file location is debilitating. I literally have to press enter almost 3,000 times every time that InDesign notifies me that...

Show at least some info about an object when cursor hovers over it
I used to use a plug-in that showed me info about any object on the page if I clicked it. That plugin hasn't worked for me in years, so I'm stuck opening and closing the Links panel all the time. I'd like ID to show me some info about objects just by hovering over them (like it instantly shows the grabber when you mouse over an image). Doesn't have to be everything that's shown in the link info. Could just be simple stuff, like dimensions, actual and effective resolution, file name. Or the user could choose from the same…

Batch "enable profiles for all linked images" option
There should be an easy way to batch "enable all ICC profiles" for linked images in an opened document.
Today, the only way to do this is by changing each image individually. Alternatively, you can force an ICC profile mismatch before opening the file, and then enable all profiles while assingning the correct ICC, which it can lead to errors.For those whose workflow is based on PDF/X-4, it is crutial to activate the ICC profiles for all the linked images in every InDesign document.

Fix bugs when reviewing
On the review end, When entering the password for the like, the "verify not human" pictograms pop up and repeats. Then the pin tool does not link to the comments.

Tool to review for performance issues
It would be great if there was a tool similar to preflight that reviewed documents for potential performance issues and not just errors. Like if one link is massive and slowing everything down, if a table is causing issues, or especially if a hyperlink is going to open another document to get to hyperlink info (sidenote: copying hyperlinks from other documents is a nightmare, why does it default to opening the other indd file instead of just copying the link info?).

Changes to the Interactive>Tab Order dialog
I do many interactive forms with hundreds of fields, and use InDesign for most of its creation, as it's easier for me to create customized filed names. It's just very difficult to rearrange tab order with the inability to see more of the interactive names and needing to scroll up/down in such a small area.
I would like to see this dialog more like many of the regular windows (layers, paragraph styles, etc.). Perhaps also a way to link right to where the field is in the document (like the links window).
Would make this task MUCH easier.

InCopy - Export to PDF - option for hyperlinks
An option to include hyperlinks in InCopy's Export/Adobe PDF function would:
- Help editors in proofing rounds with authors
- Free up designers from having to export hyperlinked PDFs for author proofs from InDesign.
My editors work in InCopy and export PDF proofs for our authors to proof. Unfortunately, since the hyperlinks don't export, authors can't check them for accuracy.
