Media Panel is missing all playback settings for MP4 files in InDesign 2020
CC 2020 is missing all its control settings for playing MP4 files in an interactive pdf. Until this year's upgrade you had multiple options on what Controller Functions appeared when playing/displaying MP4's in an Interactive PDF document.
121 votesNavigation Points have been re-introduced in the Media panel. This feature is available in the latest release of InDesign (version 16.0). Please use this release to use Navigation Points for Video/Audio files.
However, the Controller options will not be available. As communicated earlier, all options (Controller options being one of them) related to Flash/Flash player have been removed from InDesign as Flash Player is now being EOL’d (End of Life).

Save Preferences
For about 14/15 years I never had to reset preferences in InDesign.
Since CC2017 it's more or less once a week.
Colors disappearing.. panels blind or empty.. tools not working.. font now showing.
Panels self increasing size...But it seems we have to deal with it, so we probably need a way to SAVE PREFERENCES.
Save preferences in a moment everything work fine.. and restore it when (after just few days) nothing works anymore.Every time people have to reset preferences, they have to restore everything. UI colors, workspace, Application Frame (that mac users normally never use) Old…
300 votesHi everyone,
InDesign provides an option to export and import User Settings, providing users with a smooth and enhanced experience to restore their custom settings if needed. The feature is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.3.0.058)

Put the Tab panel in the Text and Table section of the Window menu
The good old Tabs are still standing strong, and they can still do stuff Tables and Character or Paragraph settings can't, like tab leader dots, align on specific characters, fill to right tabs, etc.
But users are always looking for it under the Text and Table section in the Windows menu. I know, it might technically not behave completely like a regular window/panel. But it looks like a window, it moves like a window, so to most people it's a window...

Add "Blur" Panel (for all Elements like Boxes/Images/Groups) as in XD
There should be an easy and time saving option to blur (0-100%) any elements in InDesign – just like the possibilities in Adobe XD. Especially for creating great web designs this would be a big benefit (more possibilities, less time).

Add 'Apply to All' function when relinking multiple identical image files through the links panel.
Add 'Apply to All' function when relinking multiple identical image files through the links panel - ie when swapping a PNG with an EPS or completely new image with a different files name. When relinking multiple identical images through the links panel, user is required to relink every single image separately one after another. Adding and 'Apply to All' function would speed up this process when looking to update 50 images as once.

Add a 'Change all buttons to Rollover State' on Buttons and Forms panel
When creating buttons with rollover states we currently have to manually click each button and select the rollover state on the panel window to adjust the formatting.
There is an option to reset back to Normal State – but not the reverse. Having this extra option would mean less time checking each individual button rollover format is correct and less chance of missing out buttons when changing formatting between normal and rollover states.

Mention the layer at the bottom of the window or in the Control Panel
You have to open the Layer Panel to check what layer you're working on. It would be a time saver if the active layer is mentioned somewhere else in the UI.

SELECT + RELINK of Single Image File in MULTIPLE INSTANCES based on a DEFINED SELECTION of Multiple Links in LINK PANEL!
You can Relink an Image File in the LINKS PANEL in
(A) ALL INSTANCES
(B) 1 (ONE) INSTANCEBut not MULTIPLE INSTANCES based on a DEFINED SELECTION of Multiple Links. To do so presently requires the NEEDLESS REPETITION of Re-Linking for each instance at great time and expense!
I am sure this is an IMPORTANT NEED for many users workflows.
Please add this feature ASAP!!! Urgent need for us and I am quite sure many many others!

Integrate Macbook Pro Touchbar with InDesign
Hi!
I love Adobe InDesign and use it everyday for work. I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro with a touchbar. Photoshop and Illustrator both support the customized touchbar feature and it is super efficient and awesome to have many tools right there on the touchbar.
As someone who uses InDesign more than the above mentioned adobe programs, I would LOVE to be able to use the touchbar feature in InDesign as well!

Please make it possible to reorder the parent pages.
Simply have a option to drag and drop the parent pages. I think this used to be easy when they were master pages , or maybe I just assumed this - but not now.

Have a Dropdown arrow in the middle of Control/any Panel in Indesign So when the Mouse is Hoverd/Clicked on it The Menu/Options show up
I like the Properties Panel idea And Hiding the Control Bars on top to maybe look less daunting to newcomers but What if It has a DropDown arrow. A small panel tucked inside on top of Indesign while having a dropdown arrow in the middle so when the mouse is clicked/hovered on top it falls down occupying the same amt of space. Can also be used on every other Panel the Right one as well. Just Hover the Mouse to the extreme Right and the Panel shows up and when not more viewing space for the file. I m not…

Publish Online: Comment Mode NEEDED! :)
I think in order to compete with the other tools out there, CC needs to add Comment Mode into their Publish Online feature. That way we can share documents with clients and partners and have them provide feedback right there. Please think about doing this, and soon :)

Work in Whole Pixels (Snap to Pixel Grid)
When working in a document whose intent is Web or Mobile it would be great if InDesign had an option to force users to work in whole pixels.
Not to be confused with InDesign's "Snap to Document Grid", what I am thinking is something more like Photoshop's behaviour when your Preferences -> Tools has "Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid" selected.
The outcome would be that you could never have a page item with floating point values.

Preview checkbox in preferences: grids
A preview checkbox in the grids panel under document preferences. So that you can make changes to the document grid or baseline grid without having to close the preferences panel in order to see the effects your changes have made.

Stop Giving a Fill Color When Using the Line Tool.
My OCD makes me switch the fill color (when using the line tool) to No Color. It would be great if there was no fill color when using the line tool.

Magic Wand Tool
Magic Wand Tool is necessary for InDesign to select not only objects but this should also work according to InDesign to select the same fonts, and Styles of Objects, Paragraphs, Characters, and Tables, etc.
Magic Wand would be beneficial for the Selection of Fonts and their Size and Styles, just we will have to check/turn on the options according to required selections on the page, spread, or document, etc.17 votes -

Use the Articles tab to designate the reading order in a PDF
When creating an accessible PDF, InDesign should use the Articles Tab rather than the Layers Panel to structure the Reading Order. It reads properly but once you check the accessibility, the "Reading Order" panel shows a MESS. It's based on the Layers Panel which is madness to try and re-structure when creating a large form with hundreds of form fields. The Articles Panel is needed to set the tab order anyway. This would make the most sense to me.
