Media Panel is missing all playback settings for MP4 files in InDesign 2020
CC 2020 is missing all its control settings for playing MP4 files in an interactive pdf. Until this year's upgrade you had multiple options on what Controller Functions appeared when playing/displaying MP4's in an Interactive PDF document.
Navigation Points have been re-introduced in the Media panel. This feature is available in the latest release of InDesign (version 16.0). Please use this release to use Navigation Points for Video/Audio files.
However, the Controller options will not be available. As communicated earlier, all options (Controller options being one of them) related to Flash/Flash player have been removed from InDesign as Flash Player is now being EOL’d (End of Life).

Was about to subscribe UNTIL I saw this!
Am writing a book aimed at interactive PDF, but video is a MAJOR part of the project.
Will NOT subscribe or use InDesign unless video is available, controllers are active, https works (join the 21st century Adobe!), and video can be inserted from a link on MY website.
Absent this, is adobe TRYING to commit financial suicide?

I thought I had found a great work-around by adding in the controller under Rich Media in Acrobat - it worked wonderfully - video stopped playing when you changed pages and the controller came up when you hovered on the video...
But now have a client who just gets a blank screen (can't even see the poster) and no "click to activate" message. He's using Acrobat latest version on a PC, same version as me but I'm on a Mac (works fine for me).
So wondering was the Acrobat workaround supposed to solve this issue? Any idea why my client not seeing anything on the pages where he should be seeing the video poster & playback?
Thanks in advance.... -

Oh god, Adobe, PLEASE put this back. I just downloaded the prerelease version and I see them there, but now I can't use my $500 in5 plugin with the prerelease version. Can't you just patch the existing version to add the **** navigation points feature back in? It's super frustrating when you remove functionality!!!

The best in the manual is this:
"InDesign is not supporting the playback option for embedded YouTube videos because the YouTube URLs are changed to secure links (https), and therefore, the embeded YouTube video links (http) will not work."
Gosh. All the web has switched to https, not only youtube! Years ago.

Hi, has it been fixed yet? I'm working on a big project and right now we have few days left to deliver, because of the missing tool we are having a lot of extra work to add simple things that would be done quickly with the Media Controller

Helloooo Adobe... anybody listening here. Please fix the Media Controller! Why are you taking so long for something so simple that was already there.

I went back and installed ID 14.03 and it looks like the video options are still present in that version (navigation points specifically for me). Using this old version might help until Adobe fixes the problem (if they ever do).

Its important for the user to play and pause them as they needed, when user is reading the next page, video is still playing in the background getting annoyed of this.

If I add video to my client's Interactive PDF catalog using ID 2020, their customers can play the video by clicking on it, but they don't have any controllers to stop the video, or jump ahead, or replay a segment. What's the point then? Adobe, please put the navigation points back in to the Media menu.

Thanks for your inputs. We’re going to review this shortly.
November 22, 2019... that's a long time ago in anyone's reckoning...
As usual - the company grows and grows, becomes the 'go to' package in the industry, the users get fobbed off as the powers that be get greedy and are more interested in cornering another part of the market...
I'd love to review my using Adobe products - but in the meantime I have to find another way to display and control video in creative presentations...
And I haven't got the ability to fob my customers off with a: "We’re going to review this shortly."
