******* Adobe, I'm still getting this CC libraries pane in InDesign being super zoomed-in... it comes and goes but I always have to restart InDesign to correct it... only to have it return to plague me constantly.
I've spent over 2 hours with Adobe Support with no solution, and I've uninstalled/reinstalled multiple versions (including the latest) many times.
Nothing works!
See attached image to view the problem.
This has been like this since late 2020! ADOBE CAN YOU PLEASE FIX YOUR SOFTWARE?!?!?!?!?

M4 GPU support
Using latest ID version (20.3.1) on Sequoia (15.4.1) on two different silicon Macs (Mac Mini M4, Macbook Pro M4 Pro) – neither recognizes the GPU in Indesign (greyed out in ID Setting menu). Monitors used include Macbooks internal display. Without GPU support performance is lacking but most importantly glitches are present (clicking boxes or zooming in and out does not work properly). As it is, Indesign is hardly usable. Other Adobe apps, Photoshop, Illustrator, work flawlessly and recognize the GPU.

wacom display
I just upgraded to a Wacom 32 tablet and am having this problem only in Indesign. There are random little grey squares all over the page - and not just the file window but the entire "artboard" area. Other apps are not doing this. I've tried zooming in and out, display quality settings, nothing has helped. And it's not an image issue - it's basically a display issue. I have no idea how to fix this and I'm almost rendered unable to do at least 50% of my job as I'm not just an illustrator but a designer too. The monitor otherwise works fine and it seems to be InDesign-specific. See screenshots attached.

Preferences Reset after working with a large XML based file
I work with large XML files to create catalogs several times a month. This results in InDesign giving me a lot of "Continue without Undo" prompts anytime I do any action (even scrolling and zooming), so I save the file and quit InDesign. Upon reopening InDesign, it says that it cannot read my preference file and resets everything.
This is extremely frustrating, as while my workspace is saved, all of the character/paragraph/object styles, swatches, and program settings are completely wiped, as are all the tool tips and notifications. Barring being able to not have this problem occur regularly, is there a way to backup my preferences so that the next time this happens it doesn't take me hours to get things back up to speed?

1 voteThank you for providing the information. Just copy the preference and try the following workflow –
• Delete InDesign preferences
• Copy the InDesign corrupt preferences.
• Launch InDesign.
• An alert would come that the preference have been reset. If the above workflow works with the copied preference, Zip them and mail it to santalwa@adobe.com.

The Review feature is incredibly buggy. When I open up my .indd to edit from the clients edits, I have the REVIEW window open on the right as I edit on the left. 1. the minute I delete within the highlighted area, the comment/edit immediately zooms away. This is so frustrating. Spelling errors cannot be corrected if the yellow highlight is on...you have to choose a letter replacement from a dropdown. So bizarre. And this is the MOST irritating...Why can't I just see a list of Unresolved comments with NOTHING ELSE? The screen is constantly over-populated with vintage comments that were resolved days ago. Filters do not work. If I click filter by RESOLVED for a moment just the un-resolved ones will float to the top. But it doesn't stick. I have to scroll around to figure out where I was on the list of edits and there' no reason to it. The workflow is incredibly frustrating.

swatch / colour display bug IND 19.2 - not all swatches used are appearing in swatch panel
New update Indesign 19.2 swatches / colours in document not all appearing in swatches panel - you've always been able to easily delete a swatch in indesign and it'll delete everywhere if, for example, you paste something from another document and it brings in a conflicting colour, without having to use "find swatch" (which is great for finding where it's used but not as fast if you don't care where it is).
Yesterday I noticed not all swatches used are appearing however. A text box I had used a colour background that definitely isn't in swatches. I also noticed one file in RGB didn't have a swatch appearing that was CMYK although I've since noticed it in other files without that conflict (and previously you could always have both CMYK and RGB swatches in a doc).
Also noticing some line and type display issues, lines exporting different thicknesses despite being set to the same, and text not centred vertically when I always set up my text boxes to autosize and using baseline set to cap height, with vertical justification set to align centre in text frame options, always works, now it's not displaying great when zoomed out, but exports ok, or the other way around, looks ok then exports to jpg mis-aligned. Sometimes on the same page multiple frames set the same way, some will be fine and others slightly out of alignment...

Indesign incredibly slow or crashes with more than one document open
InDesign (15.0.2) becomes almost unusable with more than (1) document open. Trying to copy text or images from one document to the next or just work in one of the documents while the other is open results in minutes-long wait times (or complete crash) to even select a text box, type a character, etc.

[ID-4216889]Objects on the page jump if a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page and vice versa
Hi developers,
this is a longstanding bug:With facing pages documents on EVERY document page there is a zone where jumping of objects will happen.
I call this the jump zone. All objects on a page that will jump are clearly inside the page's area. The bug has nothing to do with rounding errors where object edges are at the edge of a page.
The objects should not move if pages are added or removed, if numbering of pages is changing. Nevertheless they do. Always. Unless, the zone has a width of zero.
Below all the details.
What is a jump zone?
If horizontal values for left and right margins differ, there is a BUG that in effect forms a zone on the page.
I call this zone JUMP ZONE because objects that touch the zone with their edges could jump horizontally. When will objects jump?
1. When a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page OR a right-hand page becomes a left-hand page.- When a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page and later when a right-hand page becomes a left-hand page again.
This could happen within a single InDesign document open.
WARNING:
It could even happen to InDesign documents that are not visibly open.
That's with InDesign documents that are part of a InDesign book file.
The book file's feature with auto-numbering pages can do this even if no document is visibly open.
The damage is done if auto-numbering took place AND the book file is saved. How large is the jump zone?
The height of the zone is the height of the page.
The width of the zone can be calculated:
inner margin MINUS outer marginHow large is the jump?
The width of the jump zone.Where is the jump zone positioned?
Positive value: The zone is at the spine of the page.
Objects that touch the zone jump towards the spine.Negative value: The zone is at the edge of a page away from the spine.
Objects that touch the zone jump away from spine. What versions of InDesign are affected?
All versions CC up to InDesign 2020, Mac OS X and Windows.
InDesign CS6, Mac OS X and Windows.Possibly also InDesign CS5 and CS5.5, Mac OS X and Windows.
I did not test this. How can I avoid jump zones?
Make right and left margin values the same! Are there workarounds if I cannot avoid jump zones?
Anchor objects
that touch the jump zone to text frames that do not touch the jump zone.
Nested objects will not jump if the parent objects are not touching the jump zone.Group an object
to another one that is touching the top or the bottom edge of the page.
Tests are showing that objects will not jump if they touch the bottom OR the top of the page.
( OR both, bottom and top edges of the page .)
Other things to consider about moving objects?
The following is independently of jump zones:
Objects could move to other pages if their edges touch exactly the horizontal edges on pages in facing pages.
Depending on the version of InDesign this could also happen with objects touching the spine.
Reason: Rounding errors. What can provoke all this?
1. Add or remove an odd number of pages
so that left-hand pages become right-hand pages and vice versa.- Renumber start pages of sections so that left-hand pages become right-hand pages and vice versa.
Note:
Every document has at least one section by default.
The start of that section is the first page in the document.More details at Adobe InDesign Forum:

Accessible PDF Exported from ID contains SPANS in Reading Order panel
InDesign Version: 13.1
To reproduce issue, create an InDesign document with some styles, map styles to tags and export to PDF with tags (accessible pdf).
Expected result is that in the Reading Order panel (and Content pane), each paragraph is wrapped in an appropriate container.
The actual result is that each line of text within a paragraph is wrapped in a span container.
Although this doesn't seem to directly affect the accessibility of the file, it makes additional remediation difficult because of the many containers found in the PDF file.
26 votesHello All,
We acknowledge that the issue is slowing you down and we regret the same.
Our investigation suggests that the issue lies in the latest update of Acrobat and there is little that can be done at our end to resolve the issue.
The problem has been communicated to the relevant team.
In the meanwhile we are closing this thread for InDesign.Regards,

InDesign opens documents in read only after upgrading to InDesign 2023(18.0)
Indesign CC 2023 version 18.0 Files open as “Read Only”
As soon as updated, some files have started to open “Read Only” (RO)
My OS: Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19044 or 21H2
PC Desktop
I am working remotely through a VPN to a server IP address
I have Indesign 2023 18.0 , and Indesign CS6 installed. I have not opened the CS6 in years. Also noted: My machine does not automatically uninstall the former version when it updates. I manually uninstalled Indesign 2022 after I started using the 2023. At first I thought the RO problem was a conflict, so that was the first thing I did.
Older version files open up as “converted” ok
I am able to do all writing on my remote server, I can “save as”, and export files, create folders, delete files, ect.
If I copy a file that opens RO to my local desktop, I can then open it fine (read/write - RW). If I make changes to that file, save, and then copy it back to remote server, it will open as RO again.
This does not seem to be happening to every file. I started working on 2 files yesterday, opened and made changes, saved, and closed both multiple times in the morning, then a couple hours later, they opened RO. Then another hour later, one of them opened ok -RW.
I have a coworker that has the same PC OS Windows system version, and same Indesign version. We both access to the files through same VPN, he is just not in same location as me (about 20 miles away). However, his system automatically uninstalled older versions when it updates. He can open the same files that open RO for me, and they open fine, RW, for him.
If I open a brand new blank file and I copy and paste all contents from a file that opened RO, then close the RO file and save my Untitled document over it, it will them open up ok when I go back immediately and open it. However, if I go back to open that file, say an hour later, It may or may not open up “Read Only” again.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Indesign 2023, and checking to make sure updated. I have unplugged (reset) my modem.
I cannot change my preferences for updates to uninstall older versions at this time as I have a graphics card issue with the latest version of Photoshop. I cannot go back to using Indesign 2022, as my cowerker has already been using 2023 for awhile and many files are converted.
It seems to be intermittent, and almost like there is a problem with files not closing properly? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!Indesign CC 2023 version 18.0 Files open as “Read Only”

On Export - "Save As" name field not consistently highlighted by default
- 15.1.3 version
- Open InDesign, open file, click on a page, CMD E to export.
- Expect "SAVE AS" field highlighted to be able to change export name, as with previous versions.
- Sometimes nothing appears to be highlighted, taking hitting TAB several times to get to the "SAVE AS" field. However, sometimes it is highlighted - so this is not a consistant problem - as sometimes it does come up highlighted. It does seem that when I first open a file / export - that it is not highlighted, but after that, it does come up correctly highlighted.
This is not a consistant problem, which is what makes it a problem. You never know if you can just type a new file name, or do you have to grab the mouse to get to the SAVE AS field, or try to TAB to the field, not really knowing how many times it takes to TAB over.
Thank you!

No keyboard focus on launch
InDesign 14.0.1.209, macOS Mojave 10.14.2
When launched and the following conditions hold, InDesign does not seem to have keyboard focus (i.e.., no keyboard shortcuts work):
- Show ‘Start’ Workspace When No Documents Are Open is unticked.
- The Control bar is open in the default workspace.
- The CC Libraries panel is either not in the default workspace or collapsed.
Note that conditions 2 and 3 are met by several of the standard workspace, for example both Advanced and Typography (but not Book, Essentials or Essentials Classic).
If you choose a menu item or click in an input field, the app gains keyboard focus. Otherwise you seem to be able to type endlessly without any discernible effect.

CC2020: Alternate text for hyperlinks
In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!
A correct output would lead to a content entry.Note: Alt text for links is under discussion, as such alt text is not present for all users (it would be read out loud, but you can't read it) – this is not about equal access.
Thanks for fixing, this would be a good step for all people relying on accessible PDFs.

they are pointing at locations in my original files rather than the ones in the new package.Since those files exist, the cross-references have good status. Moving that package to a new computer breaks them, of course.

Indesign performance issue : CC 2019 uses all the system memory on Mojave
So basically i cant't use InDesign since updating to the new version. Even if it's idle without anything open, it starts to use up all the system memory in macOs Mojave.
This is what happens:
1. Open InDesign
2. Doesn't matter if im working or it's just open
3. After about 5 minutes, there's a system alert of Mojave saying, InDesign is using 550 GB of system memory and there's nothing left to work with.System:
iMac Pro (macOS Mojave 10.14)
3 GHz Intel Xeon W (10 cores)
64 GB RAM
Radeon Pro Vega 64It's a new iMac with a new system and it worked before with InDesign CC 2018 without having even seen this system alert. Since i need this software for my work, i installed 2018 to keep using it. But i can't figure out what's wrong with it.
