CC2021 Windows file with bullets not compatible with Mac
I opened a client's file in ID CC2021. She had a bulleted list but the bullets were squares with a question mark in the. [?]. I opened the file on a Mac and she created it on Windows. I opened the file in windows the the bullets looked fine •

I work with Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1803
Previously, I could open two or more InDesign documents without noticing any delays.

Controller skin for embedded video
I've been using InDesign to create PDF publications with embedded videos. When I created them in earlier versions of InDesign there was an option in the Interactive/Media window to choose a controller skin. I'm up to date with InDesign/CC and this has disappeared. The videos still exist in the exported PDF, but there is no obvious way for the end user to play/pause/rewind the video. This is an essential feature for the work I do. What now?
1 voteThe Controller Skins were based on Flash. Now that Flash is EOL, those skins are no longer supported and hence have been removed from the Media panel.

[EPV] Footnote references vanish in tables when the Adobe World-Ready Composer is applied
Hi together,
tested with InDesign 2020 and also with the current InDesign 2023 version 18.1.0.51 on Windows 10.
If I apply one of the two Adobe World-Ready Composers to text in a table the footnote references in the text will vanish.
The footnote texts themselves do not. It's just the rendering of the footnote reference numbers.See also this thread at Adobe InDesign Forum:

Mouse cursor disappears after change text
Indesign 15.1, 15.1.1 Windows 10
When I change text, mouse cursor disappears for few seconds (sometimes less, sometimes more). In this time I can't select anything.
Please don't tell me: - reset preferences. I did it.

freezing in Indesign version 16.2.1
Hi all
I was working on a very important file yesterday morning using Indesign version 16.2.1 on PC window 10 and was linking images to the file when my indesign just froze. I've been having issues since where it takes for ever if at all to open any indesign file. At one stage it didn't recover my file so a message came up to ask if I wanted to recovery it....what ever option I chose I was left with Indesign unable to still function properly. 100% scaling is anything but
I have a MacBook Pro 16" (Intel) with an external Samsung 5k monitor.
Starting recently, when I select View –> Actual size I get a tiny document not by any means represented @ 100%. See screenshot.
Formerly, the command has rendered an almost 1:1 representation, which is what could be expected (not least since the command is called "actual size" and that the resulting window header says "100%").

All InDesign 15.0x EXTREMELY SLOW
All InDesign 15.0x is EXTREMELY SLOW, almost unusable.
I had to go back to version 14.03 to be able to work. This is on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, v1909. It takes minutes to paste a picture.

I am opening InDesign from the start menu but it crashes each time. it will open ok from CC.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

Placing Images mac photos cant access album structure
Hi All,
when placing images into indesign (commmand d) then selecting images in the finder like window (technically speaking this might be the ilifemdiabrowser plugin from apple) , i cannot access the photos library album strucutre anymore. When going to movies (filme) i get the menu where i can choose the subfolders, with images (bilder) it does not work. Further, when trying to choose media (top menu on placing window) it cant access it. I suppose it is some kind of issue with adobe not getting access to the os photos system. I tried solving it in the mac…

Bug: wrong row/paragraph counting in tables
Version 17.1: if you have a table, for example 20 rows and 2 columns and you select 10 entire rows, i. e. 20 cells, ID would "Rows: 20" in the information window. If every cell has no more than one paragraph and two cells of the selected rows are empty, the paragraph count should be 18, but it's 21.
When selecting 4 rows, it counts 8 rows and 8 paragraphs, which is correct because it counts cells. When selecting 10 rows, it would could

Clip to Frame paragraph shading
InDesign 13.0 x64 Windows
Create a paragraph style with paragraph shading, width set to column. Set positive left and right offsets. Enable "Clip to Frame".
Expected result: Shading does not extend beyond frame.
Actual result: Shading offset is clipped on left frame margin, but clipping is not honored on right frame margin.4 votesHi,

Not able to work on more than one document in InDesign 2020 on Windows 10

Please vote if you have the same issue:I can't work anymore on more than one packaged doc containing 'Document fonts' folder in each package in InDesign 15.1.1.
Moving frames, selecting text in the frames or switching between two (blank) docs causes an unacceptable huge delay what makes efficient work impossible.Performance got worse and worse since 15.02 / 15.03 / 15.1 already. Removed ID completely, as well any plug-ins or font management software. Bug occurs on three independent Win10 machines using 15.1.1.

High GPU usage by WindowServer on Mac mini M4 Pro (MacOS 26 Tahoe) when running the latest version Adobe InDesign 20.5
WindowServer process consistently shows 60-80% GPU utilization in Activity Monitor when running Adobe InDesign
The problem began specifically after updating from macOS Sequoia to macOS Tahoe. WindowServer should maintain low GPU usage (3-5%) when applications are idle or performing basic tasks, as it did in macOS Sequoia 15.x..When InDesign is opened WindowServer consistently uses 60-80% GPU, leading to:
- Increased power consumption
- Potential thermal throttling
- Reduced performance for other applicationsThe problem…

Unrecognizable when Color Setting is set to Japanese name
OS : Windows 10/11
InDesign : 18.1/ 17.4/16.4.3 (probably all versions)If I save a color setting with a Japanese name, the next time I open the color setting, an error occurs and it is not recognized.
When I check the list, it is garbled and cannot be loaded.
The same problem does not occur when the same color settings are used in Illustrator.Since this problem occurs in a Japanese environment, the contents of the screenshots and attached file names are in Japanese.

同じカラー設定をIllustratorで利用した場合は同じ問題は発生しません。日本語環境で起きる問題であるため、スクリーンショットの内容や添付ファイル名は日本語です。

multiple versions of files from book open upon "converting"
- Opened book (.indb) file saved in previous version of InDesign.
- Double-clicked all the individual files to open them up in InDesign which is a new version (18.0 x64). A warning appeared saying the files will need to be converted if I renumber, etc.
- I used the book file to open all the files and immediately resaved them to update them.
- I made edits to one of the files from the book, and saved.
- Colleagues came on and I used the Book file to bounce between the different document files.
- To quickly save out all my changes, I simply close InDesign…

Keyboard Shortcuts dont work often with InDesign
Using windows 10 - InDesign 2020
Keyboard shortcuts often will not work, forcing me to minimize or restart the program to get them to work again. Very annoying.
shortcuts that I am using for example( W to enter workspace mode, Ctrl-Z for undoing and even Ctrl-S to save)
Adobe, stop adding features until you fix the issues that are present. especially ones that have been around for years or months.

Cursor - Zoom in and out/left and right on trackpad not working
When using my trackpad on Windows 10, two fingers up and down works when editing a document. Two fingers left and right does nothing and pinching in and out doesnt zoom, it scrolls right to left. This is the same across all my adobe platforms. Everything else on my laptop scrolls accordingly on the trackpad.
I only downloaded the adobe software last night and my laptop is brand new yesterday. All updates are up to date.Thank you for helping in advance.

InDesign will open the same file multiple times. In the past, if you have a file open and accidentally double-click the file in the finder to open that same file, it'll just open the window that is already open. In the 19.0 update, it'll open multiple versions of the same file (only if the file is from a version pre 19.0 – pre-converted), which can create issues if changes are made to one file (and they aren't updated in the other).
