  1. En Dashes turned into a Russian Cyrillic Small letter Yeru

On Feb. 19, 2018, I worked on a document in InDesign CC 13.0 (Mac). I saved the document and all was good. Yesterday, March 28, 2018, I made some edits to the same document using CC 13.1 (Mac). But when a co-worker reviewed it, they noticed that the En Dashes (Unicode: 2013) I had used as a Bullet character had turned into a Russian glyph (Cyrillic Small letter Yeru, Unicode: 044B).

The bulleted section of the document was not revised between Feb. 19th and yesterday. The edits I made were in other sections of the document. Nor did I change…

  2. Location of link,indd & export files

    INDD CC on PC win10
Working with local files and 2 LAN locations.
    1) Sick of Indd updating every week and forgetting file locations.
    2) the two options "Original Link folder" and "most recent Relink Folder" are meaningless.
I would like to be able to drag a job folder from the network and work on it with Indesign first looking in that local folder for its links, link folder and fonts instead of the original job folder on the LAN.

Why? - lets say I had an idea and want to test it without ruining the Main job. I…

  3. TOC Generation or Update Crashes InDesign 2025

    macOS 15.2, InDesign 20.0.1

When I generate or update a TOC there is a roughly 7 in 10 chance InDesign 2025 will crash. This happens with multiple documents and has been happening consistently with every document since the release of 20.0 in October.

    • I initially thought it was because I was using ID '25 on macOS Ventura, but it's still happening with existing and new documents since updating my Mac to Sequoia.
    • Additionally, the same files moved to other computers (Windows 10, for example) also crash there when generating, updating TOCs.
    • Happens whether the documents in question are standalone or…

  4. Windows 15.0.3 broke Book TOC when exporting to EPUB; works in 15.0.2

Windows 10 15.0.3 broke Book TOC when exporting to EPUB; works in 15.0.2

Not only did 15.0.3 eliminate Book > Export to EPUB option of EPUB Version 2.0.1, it changed the Table of Contents to include duplicate entries linking to every PAGE within a chapter. The Book.epub file had a separate .xhtml file for every page in the book, rather than one .xhtml file per chapter and one TOC entry per chapter. This makes the Table of Contents useless.

Reverting InDesign back to 15.0.2 fixes the problem.

Here are the parameters I used to export the EPUB:

  5. Indesign is unusable

Since the last update Indesign is barely usable. It crashes 10 times a day and with no explanation. Changing fonts, placing objects, updating graphics, all seem to cause it to crash. Suitcase is also causing problems with Adobe fonts which I can't seem to resolve. This is by far the worst update to Indesign that has come out. Forget adding new features, fix the problems with the program first so it is at least usuable.
