InDesign sometimes crashes when saving, packaging, or exporting a file. It then corrupts file, removing content (entire text boxes are now empty). This is destroying files and setting me back hours in my workflow.

  3. Windows #@$!*&%^((@@)):[[

Hello to the Adobe InDesign Geniuses! I write this with a heavy heart, I have been a mac holdout/Windows Defender when it comes to Adobe products (Photoshop) since the Mid 1990's If I had to guess, 1995 or 1996. I LOVE Adobe Products and have a huge distaste for Mac. I am reaching a breaking point with Windows, they are trying to make an OS SOOO much more and constantly causing problems, I just had to re install windows on 5 computers due to the latest update that I have yet to have one Windows tech support expert agree as…

  4. Indesign cuts off effects on PDF Export

InDesign cuts off effects on PDF Exports if they get too large. (Also to mention... menues look different fot Font or Object Effects... someone realigned one of them and forgot the others.)

Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: CC 2017.1 with Tablefix
Steps to reproduce the issues: Create a new Document that's wide enough e.g. 5000mm (happend to us on a big Banner) – Write Text - Use Effect "Bevel" - Export to PDF and watch it fail.

    Hello All,

Thank you for your support. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

Let us know your feedback in the comment section.

    Thanks,

  5. Using a variable font and exporting to PDF results in corrupted outlines in text

When using a variable font in InDesign v17.0.1 and exporting to PDF, the resulting file contains text with corrupted outlines. '.notdef' boxes get inserted into some glyphs as can be seen in the attached PDF.

This error also occurs in Illustrator.

When exporting to PDF using a non-Adobe application, no errors are seen.

Errors occur only when using variable version of the font an not the static versions.

Additional information and test fonts have been sent in an email to Josh Hadley.

  6. I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes

I am not a cool millennial but I work with book interiors. Have been reading about the nightmares designers have had adjusting the margins of text boxes once there are several hundred pages and changing the master pages doesn't alter the actual position of the text boxes. Can I agree with the comments attached below -- to you Adobe company people -- don't **** off loyal users who were using Adobe before the millenials were born -- PLEASE STOP taking away features!!!!! I have recently updated to ID2021. Am I still going to have this bug -- as I now…

  7. page number

    Dear Adobe Team,

InDesign 16.3.2 seems to have an issue showing previous and next page numbers.

I draw a textbox > special characters menu > mark > previous/next page number > page number is included. Except it only shows the current page number.

It would be nice know if I made a mistake or if this is a bug.

  8. InDesign for macOS clearing Undo stack

    1. Adobe InDesign 2026 v21.2.0.30 for macOS
    2. Restart macOS, Open document in InDesign, and work with document normally.
    3. Undo should remain available, with a long history of undo steps while working on a document.
    4. During the course of working with the document at some point the history will clear and undo will become unavailable via keyboard shortcut, menu, or the panel.

This behavior is similar to the behavior described in ID-4274243 (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/50813147--id-4274243-indesign-clearing-undo-stack-frequent?linkId=100000398096855) but unlike that issue, this is affecting users on macOS and is present in v21.2.0.30.

Two users on our staff are affected, both are running…

  9. Logitech mouse zoom in/out not working

I am on a Mac (Sequoia) using Adobe InDesign (20.1) with a Logitech MX Master 3 (and Logi Options+ version 1.85.655119). For years, I've been able to use the thumb wheel of my mouse to zoom in and out (assigned in Logi Options+), but for some reason in the past month or so, this functionality stopped working. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe + Logi apps, ensured firmware is current, etc. This is a major workflow efficiency killer — would love to see it resolved.

  13. 2023 | Indesign 14.00 (2019) was the last known version to successfully export interactive elements to PDF

A bug with Traditon! Happy Birthday you are four years old.

That since the end of 2019, interactive animated element can no longer output, I had unfortunately recently forgotten (Earlier I had done that more often)! So: Once again I have invested time, things pretty animated, only to realize that the bug still exists!

Say: All these pretty functions are pointless and useless.
They are purely for the optics still there, chic to look at .... but unfortunately not intended for use (something I know with Adobe Illustrator for a long time).

The solution Support suggested at the time was…

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

  15. Cannot turn auto-fit to default

I am using Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.0 for macOS (10.13.1). It seems that the auto-fit is default turned off right now. I changed the setting in Objet-Fitting-Framing Fitting Options and checked the box of Auto-fit with no documents open.

However, I am still unable to set auto fit into default.

    Thank you.

  16. Variable fonts are clipped during instancing

When exporting a document containing a variable font to a PDF, larger styles are clipped in some environments, and by some printers.

    Version: Adobe InDesign 21.2 v64
Operating system: Windows 11 Pro 25H2
Example PDF environment: Canon iR-ADV C5860 printer, UFRII_v10.19.21 driver

    Reproducing:
    1. Create an empty document
    2. Select a variable font (e.g. the OFL Noto Sans VF, https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans)
    3. Select a heavier or wider style than the default (clipping.indd)
    4. Export to PDF, with default settings (clipping.pdf)

Expected: Text is as seen prior to exporting (expected.png)
Actual: Text is clipped and illegible in some environments (simulated in…

  17. InDesign v 16.1, Mac OS 11.2.3 on M1 laptop. Adobe Typekit does not consistently load fonts into InDesign.

Please check the Typekit usage and activation in InDesign. This is a huge problem that is slowing me down. I am trying to load Freight Neo Pro and it is missing intermittently from my files. Other fonts from Typekit have also done the same thing. I also use Suitcase Fusion to manage my own installed Fonts.

  19. The order of Arabic digits is reversed when changing their character direction

    1. Adobe InDesign CC 2017.1
    2. Create a textbox, type Arabic characters including some digits. Change character direction from 'Default' to 'Right to Left'.
    3. Arabic letters are RTL, but Arabic digits are written LTR; So when you change character direction to RTL, they should be in their right direction.
    4. Letters are RTL, but digits are reversed. The problem is that Arabic script is written RTL, but its digits' direction is LTR. Just like when you move caret and logically it moves in correct direction.

  20. Printing Documents with VFs directly from InDesign is broken, need to export to PDF first

    Hello support team!
We at Dalton Maag noticed that we couldn't print documents containing variable fonts directly from InDesign 16.3 on macOS Big Sur. Export to a PostScript file produces a broken file. The document needs to be exported to PDF first. We found this issue on our client font but managed to reproduce it with Source Serif VF from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/tag/4.004R.

I sent the following files to Josh Hadley at Adobe:

    • A ZIP containing test documents, a broken exported PostScript file and a correctly exported PDF file
    • An AVI showing how we tested
    • A JPG showing…
