Bug: Cannot cancel or requeue background tasks, ID keeps activating fonts for good
Indesign 2024, Windows 10.
Problem 1: even with Adobe Fonts being activated, ID 2024 starts to activate fonts it finds in \Fonts folder, doing that for good and the tasks cannot be canceled.
Problem 2: other tasks, like PDF export, are then queued and cannot be processed at all unless you could move them up the queue, which doesn't work.2 votes -
InDesign "hangs" when exporting to InCopy:
MAC, OS 15.10.3, InDesign 2020:
Problems exported via InCopy (hangs and hangs and sometimes crashes) YES I have updated InCopy too. InDesign will no longer export IDML files (could this be due to no longer available to open in CS6?)Unfortunately, I am the only person who has upgraded to Catalina.
Id this an Adobe fix or an Apple OS fix?

Tutorial sample files will not open
I've got version 14.0.2
In Turtorial, I click Get Files in order to download the files that carry the examples to be used in the tutorial. They download okay, but I can Open them (either from InDesign itself or by clicking the Explorer).
I get a dialog box reading:Adobe InDesign:
"Cannot open the file ".Applycolor.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."1 vote -

Printing Documents with VFs directly from InDesign is broken, need to export to PDF first
Hello support team!
We at Dalton Maag noticed that we couldn't print documents containing variable fonts directly from InDesign 16.3 on macOS Big Sur. Export to a PostScript file produces a broken file. The document needs to be exported to PDF first. We found this issue on our client font but managed to reproduce it with Source Serif VF from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/tag/4.004R.I sent the following files to Josh Hadley at Adobe:
- A ZIP containing test documents, a broken exported PostScript file and a correctly exported PDF file
- An AVI showing how we tested
- A JPG showing…

0 on numeric keypad not working like it should. the 0 button above letter keys works properly and so do the numbers 1-9 on the numeric keypad on the right works just fine. I tested the "0" button on other applications and browser to make sure the button physically works and it does. I even tested in adobe Illustrator,

BUG : Red panels and shifted elements
It appears randomly, often when I open a second ID file, the first opened get some red panels and all the elements are shifted.
The only way to solve this for now is to close the document and reopen it.Here is the link to the ticket on Adobe Support Community I made earlier (it contains a video showing what is happening) : https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/indesign-v-16-2-1-display-bug-shifted-elements/m-p/12053732#M430155

Balance Ragged Lines and Nested Line Styles
- All Versions of Adobe InDesign up to CC 2018. macOS.
- A paragraph is formated with "Balance Ragged Lines" and single lines are formated with "Nested Line Styles"
- The lines shoud be formated as they are actual wrapped.
- The words are formated, as they would built lines, if balance ragged lines were not enabled.
- In the screenshot the second line is colored by a nested line style. The first word in the second line remains black, because it is wrapped around by balance ragged lines.

Literal ampersand (&) doesn't show in font's OpenType stylistic set menu
Adobe InDesign version: 20.1
Expected Results:
1. Use a font in InDesign that contains an OpenType stylistic set option with a name containing an ampersand (&).
2. Look for that stylistic set in Character > OpenType > Stylistic Sets.
3. The ampersand should be visible in the name of the stylistic set.Actual Results:
The ampersand does not appear in the stylistic set name.2 votes -
InDesign book has .INDD file extension
I noticed that in v. 15.1.2 an InDesign "book" file no longer has the .INDB extension, but is now an .INDD. If that is intentional, Adobe needs to update the User Guide at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/user-guide.html/indesign/using/creating-book-files.ug.html
1 voteThe issue is not reproducible. InDesign Book has .indb extension.

Split window re-scrolls after returning from other app and changing other window
I am running Adobe InDesign CC 14.0.1.x64 on Windows 7 with latest updates (i.e., the most popular platform in the world).
- Open the document (see attached).
- Split the window (Window > Arrange > Split Window).
- Scroll the left window to show page 2, with the Table of Contents.
- Scroll the right window to show e.g. page 3, with the cursor in the middle of the page.
- With the Type tool active, click the Enter key.
- InDesign correctly inserts a new paragraph, with the left window remaining unchanged.
- Alt-Tab out of InDesign.
- Alt-Tab back into InDesign. The Type tool should still…
2 votesWe have released InDesign CC2019.0.2 with lot of bug fixes. If you are not on 14.0.2.324 then I would recommend you to upgrade to latest version as it is more robust.
If you still face this issue even after updating, please provide more information to santalwa@adobe.com –
• Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when you encountered the issue in InDesign?
• Error snapshot or video recording of the issue?
• Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If Yes, Can you please provide the document(s)/asset(s)?Adobe InDesign Team

The new Indesign "add text" tutorial on the Adobe site has the incorrect practice files linked to it. I'd like to be able to download the correct files to work with. Thank you.

When converting type to outlines on a curve, the text breaks.
Adobe InDesign 17.0
Restarted, reinstalled, removed preferences. Nothing corrects this error.
Ideally the type would be as show before the type is converted to outlines. Instead this happens: https://www.screencast.com/t/fQxHtfNE

InDesign is still unusably slow
Despite many many threads about this, I cannot find an answer that solves this issue. I am getting a spinning wheel on almost every action I perform in InDesign. It spins for around 10 seconds and then is good until I do anything else. It is incredibly frustrating.
I am running InDesign 16.3.2 a part of Adobe CC 2021.
I am on a 2018 MacBook Pro, running Big Sur 11.4
32 GB Ram
2.9GHz i9 ProcessorI have tried a bunch of 'answers' from previous threads but none seem to work. Please help!
