Ungrouping deletes all items
Using Adobe InDesign CC up-to-date on a PC running Windows 10.
- Ungrouped group of text boxes + image boxes.
- All text in boxes disappeared but outlines remained. However in the layers you could see that they were deleted.
Strangely enough, by deleting a different hidden layer, I could ungroup the group and they would not be deleted.
Definitely the weirdest InDesign bug I've seen to date.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Ivan's observation was true for me also. That is, when I ungroup, the objects go back to the layer they were originally created on.
So now I know what's happening, but it's a real workflow problem.
It's 2024. Why is this still a problem Adobe?

Just had this problem and I think I figured it out. It seems when you ungroup, the text/images go back to the layer they were originally in; if you have visibility off on that layer, it will therefore look like they have been deleted.
If you have this problem, check any of your hidden layers; make them visible and see if the group reappears. Once found you can move them back into the layer you had the group in.
Bit strange!

This just happened to me, but I don't even have outlines. The top grouped object is still there, but the other objects that were grouped are completely gone.

This is happening to me as well. I am on Indesign 18.2.1 on a PC. @Adobe Please fix ASAP as I am having to manually drop in linked files again to try and work around this bug.

Same with me but I have a group of images boxes. When ungrouped, all contents disappear, and only frames remain.
Once I click elsewhere, the frames disappear too - nowhere to be found.
So much weirdness.
