1. InDesign 2019/2020, PDF export deletes components of some composite CJK glyphs when they overlap

   Install the test font in the attached zip and open the the InDesign document. Exporting to PDF clears out the top part. This did not happen in 2018.

   I initially reported this to Josh Hadley on 23 Jan 2020, who wrote up an internal report and came back to me, saying the InDesign team could reproduce and suggested working around the issue by decomposing everything or diverting the export through PostScript/Distiller. A very large client told us that this is not an option for them and would like a direct fix.

2. search

   I use CC 2017, but of course have seen this issue in other versions, Mac, and PC. When typing in a search term, like search term, the letters I type in show up backward, if at all, so mret chraes... which of course makes searching impossible. I can close the program, close the dialog box, and it still keeps coming up. It's so frustrating when you have 1000s of pages and need to find multiple words in between to keep opening/closing/shutting down

3. Paragraph style not applying when selecting the wanted style

   Indesign version 20.0.1

   When highlighting the desired text that I wish to apply the paragraph style to and clicking on the preferred paragraph style. The click animation attempts to very briefly 'grab' the style rather than select it. This works on any paragraph style I try.

   I have a similar issue when selecting a colour swatch to apply, the only option is to grab and drag the desired swatch to where it is needed.

   I also cannot change the font when selecting the text I wish to change and selecting a font from the drop down.

   This is only a recent issue for me that I have experienced over the past week or so.

   I have tried using older versions of Indesing such as 19.5 & 19.4. And am still having the same issues.

4. In-Design still doesn't support the Automated Numbers in "Devanagari Script" Indic Language Marathi & Hindi

   Hello Team, since i am using In-design for my work almost everyday, and a die hard fan for using Unicode fonts for Indian Language (JFYI I mostly work in Hindi + Marathi languages and Devanagari Script used by both these languages) and I use many fonts including that of Adobe and locally developed Unicode fonts

   the Major issue I am facing is In-Design still doesn't support the Automated Numbers in "Devanagari Script" they still appear in English / Roman Numerals, which is a very annoying thing to see page numbers & auto numbered lists Showing Numbers in English / Roman Numerals, (here i am choosing a font which does have numerals designed in Devanagari Script)

   Moreover, if I try to use the same Unicode font in CorelDRAW / QuarkXpress, it gives me proper & desired output i.e. to say, I get proper Devanagari Numerals for automated things like TOC & Index entries, so also the most crucial page numbers & numbered para lists

   Few months ago I have also put in a "uservoice" request hoping to resolve this issue, but its still pending,

5. Font menu doesn't jump to the selected font in the list when font menu preview is enabled

   Pre-Indesign 18.0 when accessing the font menu it jumps to the position in the list of the current font.

   The same action in indesign 18.0 - the current font is selected in the Recent Fonts section as the top of the list. This is quite annoying.

   If Front Preview is disabled in preferences, the pre-18.0 behaviour is the result, but of course there is then no preview.

   EDIT: I set Type preferences - Number of recent font to display = 0 which has resolved my issue.

6. Export as InDesignMarkup (IDML) ignores the color profile

   When exporting an indd-file as an IDML-file we've experienced a problem. In the original file there's an embeded a specific color profile (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)).
   If we check the exported idml file we found out that InDesign ignores the specific color profile and resets the profile to it's standard profile (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)) - which is not the desired profile and not suitable for our european print environment.

   That was the reason of some color problems with some printing stores or agencys we're working with in the past.

   At this time we couldn't find a solution or workaround for that... so we ask the developers to fix this as soon as possible.

   Do you need anything else for the solving of this issue.

7. [ID 17.2.20] Import xlsx spreadsheet: formatted numbers are truncated

   MacOS 10.15.7 (19H1824) French localization
   InDesign 17.2.0.20 (17200)
   Excel 16.58 (16.58.22021501)

   When importing an Excel sheet as a table, every number is truncated before the first thousand separator (which is a space in French).
   1 457 will be imported as 1
   21 457 >> 21
   (21 457) >> (21
   -210 457 >> -210
   621 457 >> 621
   and so on…

   After a lot of tests on several configurations and discussions on the Adobe forum, I can say that the issue will only occur on French macOS systems, starting with Catalina. No matters what version of InDesign is used (15.0 thru 17.2).

8. Online Publishing not taking all images

   Using both InDesign 19 and 18.5, publishing online no longer functions on a Mac running Sonoma 14.1. This issue started days ago. I’ve Packaged projects, saved them locally, and confirmed all images are linked but when I publish them, some images do not tranfer. And it’s random. If I publish over and over again, an image that didnt appear before may make it through. This is a terrible bug for me personally as I rely on digital publishing and sharing interactive presentations for my business.

9. spelling

   I am using InDesign 15.0.1 with the English (UK) dictionary. The spell check doesn't work at all - the dynamic spelling feature underlines every single word. I finally upgraded to CC from CS6 because InDesign v8.0 had started doing the same thing, but it still has the same issue.

10. Error code 14: File cannot be opened - file from network storage is incompatible

    My InDesign (2018) document is synced for offline use in Google Drive. (We've just begun using Google File Stream). I go to open the document with WIFI disabled and this error message appears (see attachment).
    When I enable WIFI again, the document opens without issue.
    I'd appreciate any help please! Thank you.

11. InDesign: Changing color of TIFF

    Having an issue with InDesign. I've placed a TIFF file and its not displaying correctly when color is changed for BLACK only. See video attached. I can change the color percentage on any color but black.

    However, when a PDF is exported the changes are applied and display correctly on a PDF. This is a DISPLAY issue within InDesign. PLEASE HELP!!!

12. Splitting large documents using Extendscript Toolkit script hangs InDesign v.14 for several minutes

    Running script (extendscript) that takes a large document and splits it into individual documents based on their section hangs for several minutes before completing task in InDesign v14. Prevous version (v13) of InDesign did not have this hanging issue and complete task quickly. Attached is the script (and referenced script) used.

13. text box resizing causes document to shift in window

    I have an issue now that has never come up before I updated to 20.5.1. When I try to resize a text box or image box, the document shifts down and the content box is shifted up. The video shows it better. I then discovered that if I create a new text box, delete it, then create another new text box and delete that one, the issue goes away. I closed and re-opened the document, and the issue was still gone. Have not had it happen enough to know if it will recur at a later time.

14. CC 2020 - Text tool switches back to previous tool, deselects itself

    Indesign 15.1.2 user here.

    Abnormally while im working in big sized files in indesign, whenever i press my Type Tool shortcut (which is "T") cursor goes to Type tool for a second then goes back to usally selection tool.

    When i go and choose the Type tool from left side bar it works.

    Im using windows pro 10. Re installed the program for few times.
    Saw other threads opened for the same issue but looks like you guys closed time bc it is fixed. But it is not! And it is incredibely time consuming!

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?

16. Can't open .idap files

    We can package .icap files and send them to the proofreader, but when we get the .idap files back we can't open them. We get the error "The selected package file requires an InDesign document “^1” that cannot be found."

    Others seem to be having the same issue here: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2551100
    The plugin listed in that forum thread does not fix the problem either.

    The problem started when our team updated to CC 2019... had no problems until the update. We're on Apple's Mojave OS and 2019 InDesign.

18. Overall performance poor

    The program takes 3-4 minutes trying to launch, then quits, generating an unexpected error report. It does this 2 times again before it will open the 3rd time. Making it nearly 12 minutes before it is actually usable.

    Fonts: when a text box or text is clicked or selected, without exception, there is a long delay and spinning ball prior to being able to do anything with the text. Suitcase Fuision 19.1.1 is the font management program and they claim the problem is with Adobe.

    Paste in place: sporadically the "paste in place", doesn't work properly–both through key command and pull down menu. It pastes wherever it feels like, even after restarting sometimes, (which creates the delay again opening).

    Linking: often it will not automatically check folders for links, despite this feature being checked and relink to last location selected in preferences. Manual linking must be done. In books, this costs dearly in time lost.

    These may seem like small inconveniences, but when you are hammering through dozens of files a day this is incredibly time consuming and a huge waste of my time. Which is my billable time.

    It isn't the system or hardware; with the latest and greatest Mac, with a solid state drive and plenty of room to manoeuvre, it plows through massive AE files and can handle Maya files. There is something wrong that ID is requiring so much CPU to handle what it used to do in a snap. If that's what the issue is. I haven't a clue why it's performing so badly wit this last iteration.

19. Unable to kill find missing fonts background process

    If the preferences setting to automatically find missing fonts is set, there are three major issues:

    1/ The background process never times out,
    2/ The background process severely degrades InDesign performance for everything else, and
    3/ There is no way to manually kill that background process. If we could, then issues 1 and 2 would not be such problems. If the fonts aren't found, or the internet connection is hinky, or if the Adobe servers are under heavy load or having other issues, we could just kill that background process and then either try again later or design an workaround without those missing fonts.

    The ability to kill this background process is a glaring design gap. We should be able to kill it, or at least disable it for a document (like we can disable automatic preflight).

20. Type Tool Flicker

    Specs:

    InDesign CC2018 (13.1)

    Mac Pro Late 2013

    Mac OS Mojave (10.14.3)

    64 GB RAM

    AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

    Any document when first opened will blink the document window (not the entire screen - just the document) when clicking into a frame with the Type tool.

    It occurs one time only then the remainder of work on that document is fine.

    Open another document, issue reoccurs.

    Double-clicking a text frame with the Selection tool will not blink and take you into the text frame without issue.

    I've reset ID Prefs, removed all third party plugins and zapped my PRAM just in case.

    InDesign does not have GPU turned on (unavailable due to incompatible monitor/chip)

    Tried on multiple Macs - including Macbook Pro and newest Mac Mini. Same results.

    Specs:

    InDesign CC2018 (13.1)

    Mac Pro Late 2013

    Mac OS Mojave (10.14.3)

    64 GB RAM

    AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

    Any document when first opened will blink the document window (not the entire screen - just the document) when clicking into a frame with the Type tool.

    It occurs one time only then the remainder of work on that document is fine.

    Open another document, issue reoccurs.

    Double-clicking a text frame with the Selection tool will not blink and take you into the text frame without issue.
