Variable font changes to Italic when a custom axis value is set, without user input. Also, the Italic axis cannot be controlled.
This may be related to a somewhat similar Illustrator bug:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/46249144-variable-font-changesSummary:
1. Variable fonts that have separate but related roman/italic font files are handled badly by InDesign (and Illustrator). In InDesign, if you set a custom axis value such as Weight or Optical Size, the font changes to Italic immediately. This issue occurs in fonts such as Roboto Serif and Apple SF Pro, which are well-tested, popular, and important by many measures. It also occurs in fonts that have internal data that is known to be good, at least as far as FontBakery testing shows. It doesn’t occur in…6 votes -
Color font printing in muted colors in pdf/print
There are some issues with the rendering/printing of color-fonts (created with Fontself) in InDesign 2020. This looks like a bug because switching from pdf 1.6 to pdf 1.3 and back to 1.6 in the pdf export dialog-box solves the issue. This isn't an option in our InDesign server setup though. Are there any ideas for a workaround?

InDesign crashes when formatting footnotes
Formatting footnotes using InDesign 2022 v 17.1 causes severe lag and eventually the program seizes up and must be ended through task manager. Full details here:
The resolution to the issue was to roll back InDesign to 16.4.1, no such problems with that.
Sample files that caused the crash are here:

Flipped text in PDF created from Canva
When placing a PDF with certain stylized fonts, the text is being flipped and enlarged. Seems to be specific to Mac OS.
PDF docs have been created in Canva. They appear correctly when opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro, both on Windows and Mac. They are being placed in InDesign, and at that time the text titles being flipped and enlarged. I am working from v. 16.0.1. This was not an issue in previous versions. When I use png docs instead, and place those, I have no issues. I have been an Indesign user for about 3 years.
4 votesThe fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign release 16.2.1
Please update to this latest version to get the fix.—

High Quality Display Not working
I have used INDD for about 15 years. Very experienced. but just upgraded it to CC2019 along with Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1. I can no longer see images in high quality (since the upgrades). I have triple checked everything. (image res, all INDD settings etc..) Is this a known issue?
3 votesWe guess you must have already checked your Display Performance settings. Could you confirm if it is set to HQ? Also, are all links up-to-date?

Autoplay Embedded Videos Glitching
I embedded a number of youtube videos into my indesign file and published online. They are all on different pages and are set to autoplay. They also have "start" and "end" times on them. Everything is working perfectly, except that when I go to view the published document online, the videos randomly start to play when I'm not viewing the pages they are on. I can hear them and not see them, unless I find the page the video is playing from. I've tested this in Chrome and Safari and am running into the issue on both. I would be…

subscription status.
I get the following message at random times when launching InDesign - I do not have issues when launching other Adobe Products and I can have PS open and launch ID and still get this issue so I have to believe that this is a issue with ID.
Message:

InDesign 2019 Begins failing to export PDFs after short period of operating
InDesign 2019 | Mac OS Mojave
After a short period of time InDesign Fails anytime I try to export a PDF. I get the Error notification and just a Failed to export message. Restarting InDesign does not fix this, however if I restart my entire machine (enormous, frustrating pain in my workflow) it resume saving PDFs for a short period of time and them begin failing again until the next restart.
No other Software is having this issue, Adobe or otherwise.

adobe color themes sign in
In Indesign, the Adobe Color Theme panel says that I need to sign in to access my swatches. I am already signed in, so what is the issue?

packaged files not preserving paths
In latest release of Adobe InDesign 16.2.1 for Mac 10.14.6, an issue occurred when updating a file PACKAGED from an earlier version of InDesign.
Issue was:
Document contained tifs and jpgs that contained work paths. In original document, work paths had been used to clip the images.
However, when document was PACKAGED and then opened in ID16.2.1, the paths have not been preserved. They are still in the photoshop file and can be updated by replacing or relinking the image and showing image options to apply the path information, but this is potentially a catastrophic issue for providers like ourselves…2 votes -
Visual ghosting on stage
Hello,
I have had some issues (possibly since the last update) with visual "ghosting" artifacts. Use to be, it would have been an issue with the refresh rate of a monitor, or not having the latest Nvidia graphics card update, but neither of these appears to be the issue.
I'm open to some recs to fix this issue. Please see the image for a clearer explanation of the problem.
And yes, when I move the stage/the issue, visibility does go back to normal.

Can't scroll Pages Window when Export dialogue box is up
Can't scroll Pages Window when Export dialogue box is up
When exporting certain pages from a large document it was handy being able to scroll through the pages window while the export dialogue was open. This was possible on pre CC indesign copies.

current page marker font malfunction if 3 digits or more
The third digit and beyond in the "current page number" marker is distorted in certain fonts, and almost appears to be an old style number (shifted down and squished), even when I set the font's Figure Style to "Proportional Lining" under Paragraph Style > OpenType Features > Figure Style. In fact, it also seems to do it in automated footnote reference numbers, where control of the Figure Style doesn’t seem to work either. However, when I just type out the number using the same style, it appears correct. This issue appears to be in Adobe InDesign 2024 (19.3), but when…

high cpu usage indesign
I am periodically experiencing high CPU usage with InDesign 13.0 x64 on Windows 10. The CPU remains high even while not actively using InDesign and doesn't stop until I quit and relaunch the application. This issue only started happening within the past few weeks, probably after the most recent update.
I'm attaching a screenshot from the Task Manager showing 50% CPU consumption. Please note that my laptop is quad-core. That means InDesign is fully consuming 2 CPUs (4 threads) continuously.

Adobe Indesign 2024 - frequent "Hang" issues & "error report" messages.
We recently purchased Adobe Indesign 2024 and we are frequently facing "hang" issues where the screen gets stuck on opening an indesign file or while adding few lines of texts while editing a file. we are neither able to perform any further action nor close the indesign program. Only if we end the task we are able to exit.
We have also been getting error report frequently and the working indesign file gets closed.
In addition to that for the past 2 days, we are getting a pop-up message showing "do you want automatic recovery?" message, clicking yes on…

Data Merge ignores files when a header field is called 'table'
If Data Merge tries to select a data source where one of its header fields is called 'table' (all lowercase), it fails to import (InDesign v 13.0.1). It doesn't seem to matter which column it's in, but changing it to anything else (e.g. 'Table' with uppercase 'T') seems to fix it.
Tried it on 2 machines, same result. Adobe Customer Care on Twitter confirmed they could replicate it and suggested I post it here.
Short video attached illustrating the issue.

variable weight font issues - STILL with 20.1
Re-posting this issue with more screen shots. Variable weight fonts will work 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time, they do not and give you incorrect output or unusable output, with no error warnings. This example had the first PDF output substitute the blocky serif font Bitter with another font, without any warnings or errors. The second PDF output has the correct font, but the letter forms have issues at the vertices, which make them untrappable. Converting them to outlines and then merging the path objects is the only way to get correct outlines of the…

Upon adding pages Share for Review comments and pins are mapped incorrectly.
We have a 100+ page user guide that was marked up with many comments. All of these were mapped correctly. Upon introducing 6 new pages (3 spreads) early in the document all of the comments are now mapped 3 spreads out of sync. Removing the 3 spreads did not resolve the issue and now our comments are all mapped to the wrong pages. This is strange as I really would imaging that comments are mapped to specific object ID's rather than a 'physical location'.

the document window extends below the bottom of screen
One file is open and you have the document window filling all available real estate besides the tool windows, when a second file is opened, the document window extends below the bottom of screen and must be resized again to view the info at the base. This issue was not apparent on pre CC Indesign

button value
Broken in 18.3 and 19.5: Non-ASCII text in the "Button Value" field in the "Buttons and Forms" panel fails to export to interactive PDF.
To reproduce this issue:
1) Create a radio button
2) Add non-ASCII text to the "Button Value" field
3) Export to Interactive PDF
4) Look at the mouseover tooltip and see that the Button Value has lost any glyphs beyond U+00FF.I've attached a PDF file demonstrating the issue.
