1. InDesign 2019 not working

   The latest version of InDesign (2019, AKA 14.0) has serious flaws and should probably be withdrawn. I see any number of reported problems in the forum that indicate a lot of time being wasted on workarounds and issues that render it unusable. The problems are known and have been acknowledged by tech-support staff. Anyone trying to solve the numerous problems should just go back to your last working version and wait until Adobe posts an upgrade.

3. Slow Performance issue in the InDesign application

   Very Slow Performance

   Yes, InDesign is extremely slow today 2020-06-19, almost unusable, even many months after being discovered.
   The most worrying is that it seems that this bug was discovered in September 2019.

   As David wrote 2019-09-04: “Almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects comes with a really slow reaction time”.

   Behaviour:

   InDesign freezes, and my cursor starts spinning around (CPU jumps to 95-98%) for almost 30-45 seconds before I can continue with next command.
   The behaviour is random, but when it starts working slow, then it continues. It usually happens when I open two InDesign documents at the same time (small documents).

   I run InDesign 15.1 x64 from Creative Cloud, and Windows 10 Enterprise with 16GB RAM.

   I hope Adobe fixes this very soon, as I cannot perform my daily work and my employer starts asking what is wrong with my deliveries.

   Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to perform poorly.

   We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

   We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, create a new UserVoice thread or Contact Adobe support.

4. Can't press 'Done' in Adobe Comp after adding columns and guides

   If I go to settings, add guides, I will not be able to get out of the settings as the done button does not work

   Worked with support and they are saying it is not a bug, but offered no further steps other than posting here

5. CC2020: Alternate text for hyperlinks

   In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
   Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!
   A correct output would lead to a content entry.

   Note: Alt text for links is under discussion, as such alt text is not present for all users (it would be read out loud, but you can't read it) – this is not about equal access.

   Thanks for fixing, this would be a good step for all people relying on accessible PDFs.

8. New document size issues

   When I create a new document in any Adobe program (mostly InDesign) and select what size I want to change it to (whether it be custom or a print size), the size reverts back to a previous size. I have to do this 3-5 times before I get the size I want. It has been like this on the last few updates. I'm currently on the latest InDesign version 20.0 2025. Others I work with don't have the same issue and are on the same IOS (macOS Monterey 12.7.6) and InDesign as I am. Mac IOS and Adobe programs are all on the latest version available.

9. Unable to add fonts to Favorites if "in-menu font previews" is turned off.

   Adobe InDesign 2020 15.0, on macOS Catalina 10.15

   After having updated to the latest version of Adobe InDesign 2020 I'm unable to add fonts to the Favorite Fonts filter. The fonts I've added to the filter from previous versions of InDesign are still there, but I'm not able to add any new fonts I have installed since.

   The star icon that previously let you add fonts to the filter is now completely gone. I can't remove previously added fonts from the filter either.

10. Basic Shortcuts Gone

    InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator all lost shortcuts such as spacebar hand, zoom, unable to scale boxes in InDesign or constrain placed images, Photoshop you can't constrain a scale with shift. All same in Illustrator. Just noticed these yesterday and assumed it was Mojave, which I installed Saturday. I updated Adobe upgrades but that didn't help.

11. Data Merge function "Remove Blank Lines for Empty Fields" deletes the wrong paragraph

    Generate a merged document with click on the button
    Uncheck "Remove Blank Lines for Empty Fields" in Content Placement Options
    Press [OK]
    Repeat Step 3 this time Check "Remove Blank Lines for Empty Fields" in Content Placement Options
    Press [OK]
    Put the documents side by side
    Activate "Show Style override" in the paragraph panel
    Jump to page 2
    On the left side (Merged Document, Blank line intact) you can see the 2 markers followed by a paragraph symbol
    On the right side (Merged Document, Blank line removed) you can see that the 2 markers with paragraph symbol moved 1 line up behind the 7 and the other paragraph symbol is deleted
    Everything is o.k. because the paragraph style (07padresse) of the line "Mobile" and the deleted "Blank line" are the same
    Jump to page 3
    On the left side you can see the 2 markers followed by a paragraph symbol
    On the right side (Merged Document, Blank line removed) you can see that the 2 markers with paragraph symbol moved 1 line up and the other paragraph symbol (blue highlighted on the left side) is deleted BUT this time the paragraph style of these 2 paragraph are NOT the same! The result is a bigger gap between the two sentence "Frau Marie…" and Tel: 012…" on the right then it should be as you can see on the left

    Expected result
    The Blank line (2 markers and paragraph symbol) should be deleted/removed

    Actual result
    Instead of the Blank line (2 markers and paragraph symbol) the paragraph symbol before that (blue highlighted on the left side) is removed AND the remaining paragraph also picks up the paragraph style from the "Blank line" (if there were text in my example you could see that as well)

    Workaround
    You can generate a merged document with Blank lines and delete/remove them with Find/Change
    Find > (markers) + paragraph symbol = <FEFF><FEFF>^p
    Change > to nothing
    This way everything stays intact!

12. Publish Online feature has issues when viewed in iOS 13

    We are using the "Publish Online" feature inside Adobe Indesign to make some of our content available on our website. We've recently received reports from users with Apple iOS 13 mobile devices that the content is not displaying properly on those types of mobile phones. When the content first opens, if you double tap the page zooms in ok and double tapping again zooms out ok. However, if you try to pinch/zoom, the page blows up very large such that you can only see a couple words and you cannot pinch to get back out. Sometimes double-tapping again takes it back to a normal view, but often it zooms back out with part of the page cut off. This content was created using InDesign Creative Cloud 14. I spoke with tech support and she indicated a ticket was filed with the engineering team. Posting here as well for others to be aware and to receive updates!

13. 60 Noto (foreign) fonts showing up in middle of drop down font listing.

    I have recently upgraded to Adobe CC 2020, and also upgraded to Mac OS Catalina. when I open my font drop down menu I expect to see all of the 'foreign' (non english) fonts at the bottom of the list. Instead, there is a font 'Noto' with 60 font families in the menu. I've checked in 'Font Book' on my mac, and that font is NOT listed as an 'english' font, so I assume it SHOULD go to the bottom of the menu. These fonts show up in the middle of font listing of other CC programs as well (Photoshop and Illustrator)

14. InDesign Corrupt files

    InDesign users all have to deal with corrupt files sometime during their career using this program. Usually meaning lost time and, more importantly, money. It would be nice if there was a way to have InDesign or another program scan and fix corrupt files (Adobe FirstAid). Dumping this corrupt file into this program would scan the file, find the cause of the error, and isolate it--almost like a virus scanner. Even if this means a page is lost or margins are messed up. It would be nice to at least get some work saved. For example, I throw in a file that keeps causing InDesign to crash. It scans the file. It finds that their is some markup code in a text box on page 23 out of 122 that is throwing an error. This text box is removed, maybe even a red box is put in its place so I know what has been taken out.

15. Align toolbar: "Use Spacing" is greyed out

    Version: Adobe InDesign cc 2019 (v 14.0)

    Steps to reproduce:
    I'm not sure how to reproduce it. After some minutes of working, the checkbox for "Use Spacing" in toolbar Align/Distribute Spacing is greyed out and inactive. Not sure when it happens or what makes it happen.
    But: in the Properties toolbar, "Use Spacing" is not greyed out and it is working normal, as seen in the attached picture. If I click the checkbox in the Properties toolbar, then the checkbox in the Align toolbar is activated and not greyed out anymore.

    Expected result:
    "Use Spacing" in Align toolbar should not be greyed out when two or more objects are selected.

    Acutal Result:
    "Use Spacing" in Align toolbar is greyed out.

    The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
    Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

16. page range for publishment in 'share for review' is set by last print/export job

    When sharing for review, the published document can be limited to a certain page range, because it takes that setting from the last print/export job. The only workaround is to first reset that range in the print/export window. Then publish for review to see all of the pages.

    Being able to select what pages to share (or not) would be a nice feature in the 'share for review' interface. This way, I would not have to make versions, separating artwork ready for review, and artwork that is not.

17. Slow performance - spinning wheel - AdobeFnt22.lst

    Hi Adobe, we are still having major issues with a lot of spinning wheels in InDesign version 15.1.1. because of the AdobeFnt22.lst files that are created with every document. Basically when we open a document it resyncs/updates the AdobeFnt22.lst file of every document that was previously worked from that Mac. This is causing a lot of network traffic and spinning wheels in InDesign. The problem is fixed if we restart the Mac or rename the "Document fonts" folder so that InDesign no longer uses the fonts so does not create an "AdobeFnt.lst" file. Can you please sort this out, it is killing our production, some of our designers are reverting back to using QuarkXpress

    Hi Adobe, we are still having major issues with a lot of spinning wheels in InDesign version 15.1.1. because of the AdobeFnt22.lst files that are created with every document. Basically when we open a document it resyncs/updates the AdobeFnt22.lst file of every document that was previously worked from that Mac. This is causing a lot of network traffic and spinning wheels in InDesign. The problem is fixed if we restart the Mac or rename the "Document fonts" folder so that InDesign no longer uses the fonts so does not create an "AdobeFnt.lst" file. Can you… more

18. Lag in InDesign 14.0.1 when doing ANYTHING.

    Lag in InDesign 14.0.1 when doing ANYTHING. Every time I click my mouse, make a move, do a single thing there is a 20-40 second LAG. This is beyond annoying. I am on a very tight deadline just like 99% of your other users. YOU NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT ADOBE!!!!! And don't you dare tell me it's been figured out. I'm starting a new post per your request on March 26, 2019. FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

19. open copy

    Adobe InDesign CC v 13.0 - macOS 10.9 - 10.13

    I feel like this was a previously fixed bug in an older version, but may well be back with the latest 2018 update.

    After upgrading InDesign to v 13.0, we are now not longer able to open a copy of files in use, neither duplicate the file in Finder.

    When we try to open a copy we get this error message: “Cannot open file [filename.indd]. The file [filename.indd] is incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14).”

    When we try to duplicate the file, we get this error message: “The operation can't be completed because the item [filename.indd] is in use.”

20. AIGPUSniffer quit unexpectedly every time I launch Indesign CC 14.0.1

    I am using Indesign CC14.0.1 on a MAC - OS Mojave V 10.14.1
    Whenever I launch Indesign I get a crash pop up saying AIGPU Sniffer has quit unexpectedly.
    Indesign is fine to work in however I am fed up with this AIGPU issue coming up all the time and don't know if it is effecting anything else?
    I've had loads of issues with the latest CC - really not impressed Adobe! Any suggestions on how to stop this happening?
