To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

InDesign Strips Formatting When Pasting Text from Google Docs
>>Description:
>
> When copying formatted text from Google Docs and pasting it directly into Adobe InDesign, all formatting (such as bold, italics, font size, and links) is lost. However, if the same text is first pasted into Microsoft Word or TextEdit, the formatting is preserved and can then be successfully pasted into InDesign. This suggests the issue is specific to InDesign’s handling of clipboard data from Google Docs. As a workaround, I currently have to use an intermediate application like Word, which slows down my workflow.>Steps to Reproduce:

[ID-4208319] InDesign crashes while working with Hyperlink
>>>For some reason there is 1 page number on my TOC that keeps making Indesign crash when I try applying a hyperlink to it. Everything else hyperlinked just fine. Also, I tried to delete the text so I could maybe retype the number but that also makes my application crash.

Crash when placing DOCX with character styles
>>>Steps:
>
> 1. Attempt to place place Word.docx in an InDesign 2020 document.
> 2. InDesign spends a long time parsing character styles.
> 3. Resaved Word file as .doc file and was able to import it. I don't know what information (if any) in the Word file was lost. This is not an ideal solution.>Link above "How to Submit Crash Report" is dead. I have previously submitted several crash reports through the InDD/system interface.

Find/Replace text (date) after using Convert Date to Text function
>>I am trying to replace text in multiple stories throughout the document. Each story is formatted with text and tabs (not a table). The find/change uses the FIND/CHANGE>TEXT option. I am searching for "28 May 2025" to change it to "2 July 2025". When I search, find, find/change, and change all, the results append the page number in triplicate in front of the leading date digit. For example, page 9 (attached) is "0909092 July 2025" and page 42 is "4242422 July 2025". When I copied the text to include in this report (see attached), only date date is captured

Hanging Indent plus Left Justify makes words float out of text frame
>>I often use bulleted lists with the commmand/backslash (hanging indent) tool. If the text is aligned left, no problem. But when I use left justify, it sends some of the words off to the right — outside of the text frame! Please see examples below.
>>The text samples here were using Adobe Paragraph Composer. But when I switched it to World-Ready it fixed it!

Endnotes in text flow - Not on a separate page
>>>Import endnotes as plain text in the text flow. NOT on a separate page! How hard is this to understand? I groom text in one document and then copy and paste the magazine article/book chapter into another Indesign file. I can't do this if you put the endnotes in a separate text flow. It's really terrible! Dynamic notes has just been a complete failure!

cannot copy/paste endnotes into new doc
>>>We cannot copy endnotes from one Indesign file to another without losing the numbers and getting [?] instead. Also, the endnotes insist on being on a new page; we cannot bring them up to be under the text

Inconsistent Text Wrap across two column layout
>>Text wrap is applied inconsistently from column to column, i.e. text will offset by uneven amounts in adjacent columns. This happens for all types of Text Wrap except for the Jump Wrap, which does not misalign the top two lines of text!
…
> The only fix I could manage was to Force All Lines to the Baseline Grid, and redraw the bottom Text Wrap line unevenly for the two columns. The images attached show first the problem and second the fix.
> I believe this started happening with the introduction of CC versions, but I'm not 100% sure of11 votesThanks for reporting.

Bug: copying text set to French between documents changes language
>>Windows 11, Indesign 20.1
…
> Problem description: I have six documents, two in German, two in English, two in French. In all six is a paragraph with the same name, but the language setting is according to the document language. Means, the style is set to French (for spelling checker) in the french documents. When copying text by copy & paste from one french document to the others, the language setting of that text in the target document changes to German. This doesn't happen when copying english text from an english document to the other english document,1 vote -
Forced line breaks within text variables introduces an unavoidable letter space
>>>When a forced line break is inserted within text that is used for a variable, a random, unavoidable letter space is introduced into the variable text.

alt text issues
>>I'm trying to apply alt text to vector objects and some elements in a table manually in indesign. The "object export options" window isn't allowing me to change the alt text source to custom or anything else besides structure and I am unable to edit/add anything in regards to alt text. I've tested it on other text and images/elements within the document and still run into the same issue.
>>I'm having a difficult time trying to create an accessible tagged PDF due to this issue and many of the tutorials or help documents are outdated for CC capabilities.
