indesign CC 2020 15.1.1 not recognizing font
document will work fine, then randomly a window will pop up saying that it is missing a font that I have been working with. Restarting Indesign usually works for a brief amount of time

OpenType mark positioning messed up when using bidi text with Thaana font
The font uses ccmp feature to build dotted glyph from base glyphs.
When a LTR character comes into question, these glyphs are rendered incorrectly.
See the screenshot.

Custom Thai character set does not display properly in composite font
In the Composite Font Editor, I defined a custom character set that includes all of the characters in Noto Sans Thai and tried specifying various Thai fonts to that character set as part of a composite font.
However, regardless of the font I specified and regardless of what fonts I specified for the other parts of the composite font in certain circumstances three Thai tone characters would not display (U+0E48, U+0E49, and U+0E4C). As far as I can tell, they do display when they are above another tone character, but they do not display if they are…

Problem copying font from Acrobat Pro DC PDF (to Word and Indesign)
[Adobe Indesign 2021 - 16.3 / Suitcase Fusion 21.3.0]
Since the last update, I am unable to copy/paste from a PDF in Acrobat the accented characters of the French dictionary (ô, é, è, ç, à) to Word or Indesign, whatever the font is (Adobe font or personal font).
The glyph disappear when pasted.
The glyphs exists in the dictionary when looking at the panel in Indesign.

InDesign 2019 is not finding missing fonts - preflight does not find it and "Find Font" either, but discovered it with Flattening a PDF
InDesign 2019 on MacBook Pro 10.14.3 - "Find Missing Font" is not working. It said all was good. Even the Preflight (with Font Missing checked) said all was error free. But when I exported the file to a pdf and ran the flattening feature, it found the 2 missing fonts--both were TTFs. So I went back to Font Book to add those fonts. All was fine then, but why didn't InDesign tell me there were missing fonts?

font menu scroll is jumpy and unresponsive on M1 MBP 16" / MacOS 13
Bug: Scrolling the font menu in indesign is jumpy and somewhat unresponsive at times on M1 MacBook Pro / MacOS 13.
It's hard to illustrate with video recording, so I do hope you test this.
This has been persistent for months.3 votes -
Bug: Ligatures cause inconsistent font weight in exported PDFs
PDFs exported from InDesign and viewed in Chrome display inconsistent font weights, and the issue appears to be linked in some way to ligatures.
In my own testing, I have found the following, but I am not entirely confident that this is a complete picture of the problem:
- Ligatures turned on everywhere = lighter text
- Ligatures turned off everywhere = bolder text
- Ligatures turned on in some places = inconsistent font weight line by line. Not certain if there is a regular pattern to these inconsistencies.
Issue seems to present only when exported PDFs are viewed in Chrome, but I…

All of the sudden font doesn't appear
v17.2 InDesign
MAC OS Big Sur 11.6.5
Opening documents to make changes and fonts are missing. They are activated in Suitcase 22.0.4 and appear in Illustrator when I open a document.
Have redone preferences, caches in both InDesign and Suitcase. Tried placing the fonts in the InDesign fonts folder and the Adobe fonts folder.
Have restarted several times.
Uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled.

Export PDF is crashing PAC checker due to font issue
Since version 18.4, sometimes the embedding of specific fonts is causing PAC to get a system error. I know this because I sent my file to Axaio (made-to-tag) when I couldn't figure out why PAC was not working. They told me this started happening since version 18.4, which has something to do with fonts. They suggested finding a TrueType version of the font to get around this bug or download 18.3. I use Indesign all the time and need this bug to be fixed.
3 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

eyedropper still not picking up font type style weight -- adds a stroke to outside or color to the text box.
eyedropper not picking up font or style; it picks up color sometimes & stroke sometimes. it is glitchy to the max. unstable, unreliable. USED TO WORK. a long time ago...in a land far, far away.
It generally succeeds picking up object styles. otherwise BIG FAIL regarding fonts, font colors, font weight. it misses completely.

current page marker font malfunction if 3 digits or more
The third digit and beyond in the "current page number" marker is distorted in certain fonts, and almost appears to be an old style number (shifted down and squished), even when I set the font's Figure Style to "Proportional Lining" under Paragraph Style > OpenType Features > Figure Style. In fact, it also seems to do it in automated footnote reference numbers, where control of the Figure Style doesn’t seem to work either. However, when I just type out the number using the same style, it appears correct. This issue appears to be in Adobe InDesign 2024 (19.3),…

GREP styles do not work in text variables
The title should say it all. When setting a text variable in a paragraph style that includes GREP styles, the GREP styles are not applied to the text variable. This is a severe limitation of the variable functionality, and is similar to many other reported bugs concerning variables, the upshot of which is that variables need to behave more like ordinary text. This is one more instance in which this is true.

Text Variables Do Not Work with Auto-Size Text Boxes
When I create a text box that has auto-size (width only) enabled and then insert a text variable (e.g. "modification date"), the entire text variable is collapsed into the width of a single character. It is as if the dynamic width of the text variable causes a bug in the calculation of auto-size, such that the width cannot be determined, and so it all collapses into the width of a single character instead, with all of the characters rendered one on top of the other.
Very disappointing bug, because dynamic text variables and auto-size are a natural fit for…

Active adobe fonts are unstable.
16.0 x64 - I have been experiencing issues with Adobe fonts, where I can't edit them. For example, resizing to a larger font value or even adding more text. The font (or the entire text box) will completely disappear or it will switch to a default font even though the correct font is chosen. The only way to correct it is to close the document and restart. But it doesn't mean the font will be stable. I don't seem to have this issue with locally installed fonts.

Font list scrolling performance is laggy even on loaded M1 Max laptop
When slowly scrolling through my font list with a text box active on the page, the scrolling is laggy. It halts regularly.
When scrolling fast, there is no problem.I guess the slowness has to do with the preview function when text is active.
Preferred solutions would be
1) better performance
2) only preview when you click the font or
3) provide a setting to turn previewing on the page off.
I don't have an extreme number of fonts, and I use FontExplorerX to manage my fonts.
I would expect this to be a fluent experience on…2 votes -
Fonts with a certain suffix in the family name not showing up in the font menu
InDesign 17.2.1 macOS 12.3.1
When installing four different regional packages each of them following this family name structure: name + region, being the family names:
MyFont APAC
MyFont CYR
MyFont EMEA
MyFont NALA
Fonts with CYR in the family name don't show up in the font menu, while the rest of the fonts do.
The fonts are somewhere though as InDesign does not complain about the fonts not being installed when opening a document set in that font.1 vote -
Missing character in CentSchbook CE font in InDesign2025
Yesterday, while working in Indesign 2025, white spaces appeared in the imported text where the letter "r" should be - one character suddenly disappeared! Even in the font set there is a white space instead (see picture). I tried this set in Word and it continues to appear there. It also appears when I try it in the old version of Indesign CS4. Not here in ID2025. However, about two days ago I was already creating documents in ID2025 with this font set and there was no problem. This is a current problem that I need to resolve immediately. Thanks…

Control characters breaks 'regular' font rendering
I pasted some cells from Excel into an Indesign text box. After that, the text rendering was completely distorted garbage text). Worse, I couldn't select the "Roman" font anymore, in any open document. Upon testing, that included many "normal" fonts like Georgia Regular, Minion Pro Regular and Warnock Pro Regular. I tried switching to International English MacOS and Indesign, I tried several versions from Indesign 13.1 back to CS6, and on Mac and Windows – same thing.
Finally, I discovered the control characters in the Layout text editor, and when I removed them (and restarted Indesign), everything was back to…
