1. More options when creating Forms via InDesign

   InDesign has a few features that make it possible to export an interactive PDF-Formular directly from InDesign.

   This CAN save a lot of time when customers require changes on these Files but sadly InDesign is missing out a lot of features that Adobe Acrobat has - even though it'd be a lot easyier to set everything up in InDesign.

   So in my opinion the Formular menue needs some improvement and get more functionality (In Acrobat you can define a font VS via InDesign you can't) since more and more customers request Interactive PDF-Forms etc.

   It would be valuable to us because we have to edit every file we create after every change just to make those adjustments that can't be done via InDesign yet.

   Now you can set fonts/typeface directly in InDesign while creating PDF forms. This feature is now available in latest InDesign CC version. Please upgrade to the latest release.

2. Text box on different place in PDF vs. InDesign doc

   A colored text box moved 1,5mm from the position in InDesign-file to the position in the exported PDF. I had 8 versions of this file and in one it appeared on a different place in the PDF. When printing with only black plate changed, the the text was 1.5 mm lower in black. Is there a solution? Is this a bug? 80.000 printed pcs. to the trash and 4 new plates to solve the problem. Any help?

3. convert metadata description to alt text

   It would be so helpful if there was an option for image metadata like "description" or "keywords" could be imported as the alt text. Right now we need to go click on every picture to type it in for every document that image is used in and it is time consuming. If I could just add a description in the image in bridge/photoshop and then have that imported as alt text, it would save so much time trying to reprocess all our documents to be accessible.

4. Make text variables/live captions breakable like normal text

   We work a lot with pictures that get there captions from xmp meta data stored in the pictures.

   There is a great feature in InDesign called textvariables/live captions ;) for this… BUT these variables don‘t wrap like normal text :(

   Instead we have to convert the live captions to static text to get the proper text warp and in doing so losing our live link to the XMP meta data.

   So please enhance this feature to a real feature and allow variables to wrap like normal text. Thanks!

5. PDF preset that includes a stored password

   When making PDFs, I'd like a way to make a preset that includes a stored password. When you have to make many PDFs with security, it's very time consuming to enter the same info over and over.

6. New Options in the PDF-export menu and presets would be helpful

   we have always to open new generated pdfs in acrobat to edith settings like
   - page view options
   - safety/password

7. Allow spread view documents published online to be downloaded as single page view pdf's.

   An InDesign document in a spread, 2-page view format that is published online turns into the same spread, 2-page view when it's downloaded as a pdf. It would be nice to add a control in the online version to allow the view to select one or two-page formats in the pdf that they downlaod.

9. Artifacting Master Page Items—accessibility

   Within the past year, Adobe InDesign changed the way it handles items on a master page when the file is exported to accessible PDF.

   We used to be able to control each MP item and designate whether it was artifacted or kept live and tagged in the PDF reading orders. BUT, in recent versions of InDesign, EVERYTHING on the MP is automatically artifacted and we have no control over this.

   This fowls up workflows where some MP items must be kept live, tagged, and in the PDF's reading order, such as the project I'm working (series of fact sheets for a university) where the organization's name and contact into is repeated (hence, on a master page) and needs to be kept live and tagged (not artifacted).

   Give us back our control! Although most MP items should be artifacted, it's not ALL MAP items should be artifacted. Let us keep some items tagged and control their reading order in the PDF.

   "Releasing" the items from the MP when I'm on the document page isn't the solution; it defeats the reason why we have MP in the first place.

   And fixing the problem after the PDF is made isn't a solution, either.

   Solution:
   1) In each Master Page's options, give us a checkbox option to artifact everything on that MP or not, and
   2) Give us back our "granular" control to artifact frames (Object Export Options) and text (Artifact in Export Tag settings).

   Within the past year, Adobe InDesign changed the way it handles items on a master page when the file is exported to accessible PDF.

10. The new Mac operating system doesn't support postscript anymore so it's critical to give us the option to save a booklet in pdf.

    Eiminate the postscript option in print booklet and replace it with pdf. for saving the booklet on desktop

11. It'd be so much more efficient to be able to put in a default value in editable form text fields in InDesign vs Acrobat.

    I work on a creative team building editable form fields in InDesign for interactive pdf export. It'd be so much more efficient to be able to put in a DEFAULT VALUE OPTION with the correct InDesign formatting in editable form text fields in InDesign vs the limited option in Acrobat.

13. Interactive button - Page destination - Acrobat

    In the menu 'Objects > Interactive objects > Convert to button' one get a panel with some options with mouse over effect and macros (what the button should execute after the use interact with it). So if you choose page destination 'Go to page' and then export to PDF (interactive) you get a warning error message, that the button will be visable in Acrobat, but the 'Go to page' commande will not work.

    This seems like an essential feature when dealing with interactivity.
    Please make it work directly within InDesign! It would be so much smoother than the workaround to make Acrobat native links afterwards. Would be a time saver!

14. Native PDF/UA-compliant export in Adobe InDesign (European Accessibility Act)

    With the entry into force on June 28, 2025 of European Directive 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act, EAA), the production of accessible digital documents has become a legal obligation for a wide range of public and private operators working in the European market. The regulation requires that electronic documents — including PDFs — conform to the PDF/UA standard (ISO 14289-1) and the technical standard EN 301 549.
    At present, Adobe InDesign is not capable of natively exporting PDFs that are PDF/UA compliant and verifiable with third-party tools such as PAC. This limitation forces professionals to rely on third-party plugins or manual corrections in Acrobat Pro after every export — resulting in additional costs, operational inefficiencies, and the risk of errors in every production cycle.
    Bringing InDesign into compliance with these requirements is today a legal necessity for thousands of European professionals who use the software daily to produce institutional communications, reports, publications, and technical documents subject to EAA obligations. It would also demonstrate Adobe's genuine commitment to the values of inclusivity and accessibility.
    The native implementation of these features would eliminate dependency on third-party tools, reduce production costs, and ensure that Adobe InDesign maintains a competitive position aligned with the current European regulatory landscape.
    Supporting accessibility is not merely an ethical choice — it is today a concrete responsibility toward the millions of users with disabilities and toward the professionals who produce content for them every day.

17. scroll through PDF pages while ALREADY placing with cursor directly in document

    i'd love to have a feature where i can scroll through the pages of a multi-page PDF document AFTER i i've been in the import options and when i'm already placing stuff directly in the document with the placement cursor.

    for expample using the arrows keys (similar to creating a grid when placing multiple images) to scroll to page 5 when the next page would actually be page 2. in addition to the little preview image next to the cursor this might speed up things a lot in some cases.

    enlighten me if this is already possible. all i found via google where people who did not discover the import-options yet – which is NOT what i mean.

    if it's not clear what i'm talking about, let me know.

    P.S. Same would be nice for importing InDesign Dokuments or Illustrator-Files with several artboards.

18. Export selected pages

    I very frequently need to export only certain pages to PDF. I know I can type a range or multiple ranges. But it would realy speed up my professional work if I could just select the pages and hit 'Export selected pages...' in the contextual mouse menu.

    This feature was present until CS6 by a plugin named HandyTools by DTP Utils.

19. Share for review - A Great New Feature

    I just started testing the new Share for Review and am really liking it so far - very smooth and an upgrade over the Publish online feature which I tried but found was no better than just saving a PDF to the cloud and sharing that. I like that in Share for Review I can just hit update on an active document. I am hoping over time to see the following added to this great new feature:

    • The ability to allow clients to download a PDF version
    • More Annotation tools (Highlights, cross-out, underlines, etc...)
    • The Ability to Create Versions
    • Bonus for an Approved/Changes Required buttons
    • Extra Bonus if we could somehow incorporate the Import Changes feature from Import PDF comments feature. Maybe a Replace text annotation type tool?

20. New Pdf notes, needs a tool to move them out of of the way when working. and needs to stop zooming out when you click on the note text.

    With PDF notes in indesign, the comment icon covers the spot that you need to make the changes. they need to be waaaay smaller or transparent or easy to move. and when you click on the comments to work out which comments are for what note icon, it zooms out rather than just panning to the icon. That would be fine, but when you have lots of stuff in the doc, indesign takes ages to zoom in and out.
