Buttons and forms (Interactive) panel needs revamping
The panel is barely usable in it's current form for anything more than a few buttons per page due to not being able to increase the height and width of the panel, especially the visibility section when a button is highlighted. At the bare minimum this needs to be resizable so that more can be seen so that linking and adjusting the on/off states of buttons can be performed more easily.
Ideally, the panel needs an overhaul so that multiple buttons can be shift+selected so that they can be set to be called before being visible by default, or…

Put the Overset text warning directly at the beginning of the export file process
When I want to export a PDF, InDesign kindly reminds me of overset text or missing links. However, I do not understand why this warning appears at the very end, after I have gone through the file location selection and PDF export settings. Obviously, I want to correct this error in 95% of cases. Instead, I have to cancel the export, then go through the entire process again. The file location, file name, and any PDF export settings I might have changed are lost, and I have to start all over again.

OpenType-"O" on textframes: More a viewing-option than in preference
As an element on my image/text-frames I would expect this OpenType feature to turn on/off in the "Viewing-options » Extras" like corner-effects or link status, tho its an advanced input.

Cannot paste grouped object into graphic cell - when could previously.
Adobe InDesign CC, 2017.1 Release
Version 12.1.0.56 x 64 buildI used to be able to paste a grouped object (for example, an image with a bit of text overlayed on it) into a graphic cell in a table. Currently this is not working - I can put a regular image (just a linked image) into a graphic cell, but as soon as I try to "paste into" a copied grouped object, it does not even offer paste into as an option.
This issue is present in tables used by multiple users in different files - not a bug…

Simplify hyperlink process
I've been using Indesign for over a decade but still can't fully understand the hyperlinking process. For example, what is the difference between New hyperlink destination and New hyperlink? (I've read about the difference but still find it kludgy.) What couldn't the process be as simple as when defining a paragraph/character/object style sheet in ID? Why can't I add simple page links to text (sometimes it works, other times it doesn't). Why does the hyperlink panel only provide a URL shortcut and not a simple Go to page #? And why can't I…

Interactive button - Page destination - Acrobat
In the menu 'Objects > Interactive objects > Convert to button' one get a panel with some options with mouse over effect and macros (what the button should execute after the use interact with it). So if you choose page destination 'Go to page' and then export to PDF (interactive) you get a warning error message, that the button will be visable in Acrobat, but the 'Go to page' commande will not work.
This seems like an essential feature when dealing with interactivity.
Please make it work directly within InDesign! It would be so much smoother than the workaround to…6 votes -
Option to not include InCopy Assignments when Packaging an InDesign file.
When using the Package feature, we need an option to choose whether or not to include InCopy .icml assignment links. I need to send a packaged InDesgin document with links, fonts, etc. to 3rd party designers. They won't need the InCopy assignments, and I don't want missing link error messages when they open the file.

Dynamic Data Merge Updates in InDesign even after Generated
Currently, after completing a data merge, the generated document loses its link to the source Excel/CSV file, making it impossible to update content (like product names or prices) without re-running the entire merge. This becomes a major issue when we've manually added custom pages, layout tweaks, image adjustments, or element placements based on text length—re-merging resets everything.
Suggestion:
Introduce a "Dynamic Merge" option in the Data Merge panel that maintains live links to the CSV/Excel source. This way, users can choose between a static or dynamic output. With dynamic mode, merged fields remain linked and identifiable, allowing easy…2 votes -
Add an option to show Master Page data in the links palette
Add options for showing Master Page info to the long list of item in the Links Palette options. Should definitely include "Master Page Prefix" and "Master Page Name", might as well include "Based On" and "Number of pages" while you're at it.

Select multiples image via Links pallet and set to "multiply"
I design auction catalogues with upwards of 350 images per catalogue. We often have auction lot numbers and text close to the image so I like to select images to Multiply so no text is accidentlly hidden. I manually have to do per each spread. It would be nice to do in one step by selecting all images in links palette and setting to Multiply.

Update links with custom settings
When opening a document and InDesign asks if links should be updated, there should be a choice for linked files only. When using alternate layouts, e.g. with an A4 and a Letter instance, the line breaks will be manually adjusted. So when the file is opened and all links are updated (because maybe images and charts used in both formats were updated), the manual changes in the linked texts of the alternate format are gone.

Add shortcut or button to bottom of links palette for Collapse Multiple Links...
Please add a keyboard shortcut or a button to the bottom of the links panel for the panel option "Collapse Multiple Links to Same Source". I have to toggle this on and off often and would like an easier way to get to this option. Thank you.

Creative Cloud Documents - File Open facility needs vital features
I think one of the most important facilities for making good use of Cloud Docs will be document management. I have been extremely frustrated by the total lack of such features in the recent Document Open interface, which just lists some very small number of recent docs, without any consideration of folders, projects, clients, or other important organizational features. The OS provides us with hierarchical folders that can do a fairly good job of organizing the dozens (sometimes hundreds) of files on a project or for a client, but without some facilities for that purpose, I can see the proliferation…

Automatic page addition or subtraction when links are updated
Dear Team,
My organization uses InDesign to compile our tender documents which vary from about 200 pages to 3000 pages in pdf format. These documents tend to change in terms of the number of pages with each tender. It would save a lot of time if InDesign would check for the new page numbers and add or remove the pages accordingly when updating links. Currently if I update my pdf file to have a few more pages, InDesign does not recognize the extra pages and therefore excludes them all together. I have to manually add the pages which is…

The ability to flick between pages on imported Indesign files
Self explanatory - The ability to flick between pages on imported Indesign files without having to go to relink then navigate to the file, then to the page you want. A simple forward/back page button next to the link would speed up my workflow immensely.

Dropbox missing links error
If links are not available (because they are only online in the dropbox), please provide 1 error message. And not a window that must be clicked for each individual image.
If you have to search older (archive) Indesign files (with hundreds of links), you will be endlessly bombarded with: "Error encountered while reading TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible..."

Create linked text boxes and assign different colors for text in each text box.
Hello,
I would like to be able to create linked text boxes and assign different colors for text in each text box. The linked text boxes can have different background colors. You can create it manually by selecting text and changing its color, but what if an editor removes or adds a paragraph? If in box A background was white and text was black, and in box B background was black and text white, then if a paragraph in box A was removed, text from box B (white) will move to box A and will become invisible in…2 votes
