Indesign CC 2018 crashes while selecting the type tool or font option from type menu
I am running Adobe InDesign CC 2018 13.0 x64. Whenever I open a new document and select the type tool, InDesign crashes. Same thing happens while clicking font option from type menu. Also, any premade INDD/INDT files aren't opening, it crashes every time. I have reinstalled several times, trashed preferences but of no use. I am running a Windows 10 version 1909 64 bit with OS built 18363.1801.

'manage extensions' not in 'help' dropdown
The extensions option is not showing in the "help" menu. When I go to the Help Menu there is no "Manage Extensions" option. Please provide troubleshooting steps as I need to load a local extension into inDesign. I also looked in the "Window" menu and found nothing.: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/46364836-extensions-option-not-showing-in-window-menu

1 voteDeleting all files spooled in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder and reinstalling the print driver helped resolve the issue.

Random pdfs displaying weird text placement
Since Adobe updated my InDesign to 2021, I have been having issues with fonts showing correctly in placed pdfs. Sometimes text will be completely removed. Other times text is displayed enlarged, upside down and reversed. It is not all pdfs. Sometimes it is just one page in a pdf that displays badly. Please fix this bug. It is very annoying when I'm trying to paginate and print files for clients.

Random text appears in the filename field when editing filenames during Save As
- ID 14.0.1, OS 10.14.2
- Save as. When dialog appears, filename is highlighted so that it can be edited. Use RIght arrow key to put cursor at end of filename to append text.
- Expected result, which occurs about 90% of the time, is that the cursor moves to the end of the filename and you can enter text.
- Actual result, about 10% of the time, is that pressing the Right arrow key erases the entire filename in the field and replaces it with the words "Adobe Stock".

InDesign: Insert authors document's metadata without quotes
Version
Adobe InDesign up to 2023.Steps to reproduce the issues
Setting the active document’smetadataPreferences.authorwith multiple authors, separated by comma or semicolon in a string via extendscript:
app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences.author = "Elric Wade; Anne Emu; Sophie Kumpir";
Expected result
The authors should be placed into the "Author" metadata field, separated by comma or semicolon.Actual result
The authors are placed into the "Author" metadata field, but all set within double quotes, so they appear to be one author, not multiple authors.Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)

Incorrect Page Count Value
It appears that InDesign CS6 or any of the later CC versions is incorrectly writing the page count metadata, such as CC2018.
This can be demonstrated using Adobe Bridge or ExifTool with the -XMP-xmp:PageImagePageNumber command.
Files consisting of 1 to 2 pages are correctly reported. In all cases, only 2 pages are being shown, whether the file has 3, 4, 128 pages etc.
Screenshots from Bridge CC2018 uploaded/attached.
1 voteHi Stephen,
There is a preference in InDesign to save preview images with document, by default ‘First 2 Pages’ is selected in that preference. You can change the setting as per your requirement. It is under ‘InDesign CC/ Edit→Preferences→File Handling’.
Thanks

Custom fonts in bold/black appears thin and bold in latest versions of InDesign and Photoshop
Custom fonts in bold appears alternately as bold and thin in the latest version of InDesign (19.0.1) and Photoshop (25.1) I've tried deleting all apps and installing again, but it doesn't help. The problem only occurs in Adobe programs. Not in Word etc. It works fine, when I'm installing an older version of InDesign, fx 18.5.
The font that is used is the Google font "Outline".

Slow creation of PDF low-res
In addition to the problem I posted regarding a conflict between ID and Windows 11, I did resolve that by moving to an earlier release of ID. However, the creation of the low-res PDF now consumed the time it normally takes to produce a high-res print-ready export. Something is going on with ID 17.1.

resize object works rarely
It's already 2019. I've been reading comments from 2015 about this same issue. I downloaded the most current version of InDesign and unbelievably I still cannot resize an object on my MacbookPro by clicking on the shift button. It works occasionally (for some odd reason). This is totally ridiculous. I read dozens of complaints about this from 2015 and on. Seriously, Adobe? You cannot fix this issue once and for all.

Crash on deleting duplicated XML tag
Indesign CC 2019 (Version 14.0.1)
Mac OS Mojave on Mac mini (Late 2014)Hello, I have a document ready to import XML data, with existing XML structure and tagged elements in page.
Afterwards I import XML data into XML structure and then duplicate (copy and paste) text frame that contains a table with an image placed into a cell table.
If I try to delete resulting duplicated XML tag, application crashes.
Same result if I duplicate (copy and paste) XML tag directly. These are the steps:
1) Open document with prepared XML structure and tagged elements in page.
2) Import…-

profil
Merci
Cela est très ennuyeux pour les imprimeurs.1 vote -
Error 39 - An error occurred while uploading your document. Please try again.
Hey all,
Really seeking some help or guidance here, we've been experiencing issues with all of our users attempting to upload/publish a document within InDesign (This is occurring with all InDesign files and on all machines I've tested so far).
I have performed a fresh installation into a virtual machine running Windows 10 (10.0.18363.1854) and version 17.0 of InDesign where the issue is occurring also.
I have followed https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/upload-error-publishing-indesign-document.html#sa_src=web-messag... however disabling network proxy is not an option as we're an enterprise environment.
I can see 200's for reaching the endpoints mentioned in various Adobe support documentation however…

AIGPU sniffer
Hi I keep having two problems with CC. It seems that Every adobe product that I use opens AIGPU sniffer in ICONS of "last used". Kind of annoying to see that on my OS toolbar all the time.
Second problem is a spacebar hand problem - even I have seen some solutions it seems it is always something different that interrupts this feature - this is crucial tool to use.
Both of those bugs I noticed right after I downloaded another update for CC that I always do and I expect to have some bugs on the start - got…

Print preview not displaying in Windows 11 25H2
InDesign Version: 21.2 x64
When selecting "Print" from the File menu (see Image 1), the print preview cannot be viewed on this initial screen. Because of this, when I click the "Printer..." button at the bottom to open the system print dialog (see Image 2), the print preview fails to display regardless of which printer I select. This appears to be an application-side issue.
I suspect this problem occurs because the preview format used by Windows differs from the one used by InDesign. Since it is unlikely that Microsoft will adapt to Adobe's specifications, I request that the Adobe…

HSB Swatch Displays incorrectly with Color Settings OFF
On Mac, when using the setting "Emulate Adobe InDesign 2.0 CMS OFF" in Color Settings, HSB color swatches display incorrectly on the page. For example, a light pastel would display as royal blue. When using "North American Prepress 2" or "North American General Purpose 2" settings, the color is displayed correctly.
Also, the automatic names InDesign provides when using "Add Unnamed Colors" in the Swatches panel show incorrect values. See attached.
1 voteThe fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign release 16.2.1
Please update to this latest version to get the fix.

[ExtendScript] app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName fails.
Adobe Indesign 20.5 on MacOS 15.6.1
To reproduce:
- run the following script:
(function () { var targetLanguageName = 'Dutch: 2005 Reform'; // try to get the language the normal way var targetLanguage = app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName(targetLanguageName); if (!targetLanguage.isValid) alert('Language "' + targetLanguageName + '" is invalid when accessed via `itemByName`.'); else return; // now loop over the languages checking the name each time for (var i = 0; i < app.languagesWithVendors.length; i++) if (app.languagesWithVendors[i].name === targetLanguageName) targetLanguage = app.languagesWithVendors[i]; if (targetLanguage.isValid) alert('Language "' + targetLanguageName + '" is valid when accessed by index.'); })();Expected result: that app.languagesWithVendors.itemByName returns a valid language…

Extra, unwanted details appearing in paragraph styles (borders and shading)
Full details posted here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/InDesign/Paragraph-Styles-including-paragraph-border-and-paragraph/m-p/10741537#M162568
When I copy a paragraph style from another document, OR copy styled text, and then attempt to edit the paragraph style, elements related to paragraph borders and paragraph shading suddenly appear in the paragraph style. This happens even though paragraph borders and shading are turned OFF. I suppose it's not affecting the style, because it's not turning them on, but they style is overly cluttered and messy and is mucking up our shared group template.
I'm working primarily in CC2018, but also replicated the problem in CC2020.
I've tried a clean install of…
