1. Cropped content inside frames becomes visible on older mobile PDF viewers.

   I found a rendering issue in InDesign 2021 (and potentially newer versions). When an image or PDF is placed inside a frame (cropped), the content outside the frame boundaries is still being rendered on older mobile devices' PDF viewers.

   Steps to reproduce:

   • Place a large PDF/Image inside a smaller InDesign frame.
   • Export as a standard PDF (Interactive or Print - High Quality).
   • View the PDF on an older smartphone (e.g., older Android/iOS built-in viewers).
   • The "hidden" parts outside the frame are visible.

   The content outside the frame should be completely clipped or removed from the render stream to ensure privacy and visual consistency across all devices.

   Exporting as PDF/X-1a:2001 solves the issue because it flattens the transparency/layers.

2. Scroll bars and status bar disappear in InCopy

   InCopy scrollbars and status bar (page navigation) disappear and there doesn't seem to be an identifiable way of turning these back on. Working on a corporate device so cannot test the 'Run as administrator' fix that is suggested on another forum online.

   Scrollbars and status bars are available on start up but disappear if you use the zoom tools, the device sleeps, or if you are active in another window (e.g. a browser) for some time (not sure precisely how long). Closing and reopening the program fixes the issue, but it is irritating to have to check in all stories, close, reopen and restart the workflow just to be able to navigate the document. Switching between layout and galley/story view does not affect the issue. Windows, InCopy v19.3

3. PDF Workflow shows syntax error in exported PDF Version 18.5

   I read that there was some Problems with PDF export since InDesign version 18.4. And i want to report that there are still issues with the latest version 18.5. Our Workflow reports syntax error in pdf and aborts procession. Its a full stop, no detailed error messages were shown. The only solution for us is to place the PDF again in older InDesign (17.4) and export a PDF from there.

4. PDF export not rendering Bevel & Emboss FX properly

   Bevel and Emboss FX not exporting properly to PDF (interactive). Example attached showing FX settings on a simple 50% gray filled square. Exported pdf file shows the render issue; compare to screenshot of how the object appears inside indesign.

   Running Indesign version 18.2.1 on Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1, M1 Max processor.

5. Cannot open file up. You may not have permission or the document may already be open.

   I wish Adobe would fix the issue cannot openn file up. You may not have permission or the document may already be open so people like me don't have to rename the file that wouldn't open up or change the location where the file is saved at all.

   I am opening InDesign from the start menu but it crashes each time. it will open ok from CC.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

7. InDesign 20.0 neihter packaging next to the source file nor replacing images from the original folder

   i'm suffering from a weird problem: nothing wants to use the original folder except the export command. When i try to replace an image the program navigates me to the last used folder unless i've chosen the Original folder option in the Preferences under File Handling menu. Same issue when i try to package a document.

   I've tried to delete all the preferences. ALL of them. I've emptied all the cache. ALL. Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign: the newly installed app tried to package into the last used folder (!?). The Preferences>File Handling> Default Relink folder menu does nothing. I can switch it but nothing happens...

   Same issue with other apps (Illustrator, PS, etc.).

8. Color Reading Completely Incorrectly

   Adobe. This is an insane problem to have not fixed.

   Colors are seriously displaying incorrectly. From one program to another the colors look different and they do not at all match the way the color read in 2018.

   The attached shows the same color in Indesign 2019 (left) and Illustrator 2019 (right)

   This is a serious issue that people have been having since the 2019 update and I cannot believe there is not an update to fix this yet.

   Every time Adobe releases an update lately I hesitate to download. The ideas behind the updates are intended to increase functionality but there is always something major broken.

9. The Same Adobe Font is Considered Different for Different Users

   InDesign Version: 16.2.1

   Steps to reproduce issue: Open an InDesign file, set font to "Montserrat" (the Adobe Font version), save. Another person opens up the file. Instead of displaying "Montserrat", the font shows as "Montserrat (OTF)" in the font menu and all the text is highlighted red because that "font" isn't activated. If that person changes the font to "Montserrat" on their computer and saves the file, the same issue happens on my end. It's essentially treating both of our Montserrat fonts as different fonts, even though we're both using Adobe Fonts.

   Expected result: Montserrat will display properly when either of us open the file up.

   Actual result: Montserrat will only display properly for the person who sets the font and not the other person.

   InDesign Version: 16.2.1

10. Datamerge QR-code cannot be colored

    When performing a datamerge, the generated QR-codes are black (C0 M0 Y0 K100) and cannot be set to another color prior to merging. This video shows the issue (and complex workaround).

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. set up a datamerge with a qr-code field in data source.
    2. try to color the QR-code any color not black (eg. using Object > Edit QR-Code > Color)
    3. execute datamerge

    Actual result:
    All QR-codes are black.

    Expected result:
    To set the color of the QR-code placeholder the same as a normal QR-code, and for the QR-codes to be colored after the merging.

11. Large Black Cursor only while working in inDesign?

    The cursor is still not my default cursor, it is large and black and very annoying. I was wondering if anyone from Adobe has addressed this issue. I have looked at previous post and have not noticed anything that would change the cursor but only change the scaling of the entire program.

12. Project goes blank

    I've been using the new Indesign 20.0 and it will often go blank to a completely grey screen in the working area. I can see the toolbar, and even the image gizmo but none of the actual content. I tried switching preview modes and to presentation mode and nothing works besides just quitting out and opening it back up. It seems to happen when it's been in the background for a while and I switch back to it. It's extremely frustrating. I'm on a Macbook Pro M3 maxed out specs on Mac OS Sequia 15.0.1 (24A348).

    This may be related but even when the content is visible and I'm trying to re-position my images in their frames I can't see the box outline or handles. Whats odd is when the content goes blank I can see the image outline and handles. Not sure if the box/handle color is blending in with my background or what is going on, I just have to hover my mouse and guess where an edge is. That is a constant issue. I had tried to see if i could change the color of the box/handles but it doesn't seem so. Also very frustrating.

13. Stock image names are too long

    When using licensed Adobe stock images, the names from the catalog are entered as the file name which causes the files to not be able to be packaged, resulting in an error. I suggest making it so that the files enter the library as Stock #s instead to avoid this issue.

14. Import PDF Comments - New Bugs identified - Part 2

    We're also facing below issues in the new feature, called 'Import PDF Comments':

    (1) Formatting properties are getting removed after importing the PDFs into InDesign, for example, if editor marking the contents in Bold format, is getting removed automatically
    (2) When contents are getting overset during Comments accepting, throwing error ‘Comment cannot be accepted’
    (3) Unable to select the comment one-by-one thro’ COM
    (4) Unable to navigate the comment to respective position in the InDesign file thro’ COM
    (5) Unable to get the page numbers thro’ COM

    Please let me know for any clarifications on the above given feedback.

15. Arabic Support Was Suddenly Removed

    My default install language is English with Arabic support. InDesign was working normally until I changed a preference setting (disabled Hindi Digits) in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. It was the only change I recently made to any Adobe-related app. I had to reinstall the app to fix the issue.

    "In the 'Advanced' workspace ('Geavanceerd'), the 'Swatches' panel ('Stalen') does not open; instead, the 'Links' panel ('Koppelingen') always opens. In the 'Essentials Classic' workspace ('Essentiële werkruimte – Klassiek') it works correctly. This issue occurs in the Dutch-language version of InDesign and seems to be a bug in the workspace configuration."

17. Koreans have to press the spacebar twice when using InDesign

    When typing Korean in InDesign, you need to press the spacebar twice.If you've ever used InDesign in Korean, you'll find this kind of work is very annoying. This issue did not appear in CS6 and earlier versions of CC. So, for Koreans who use InDesign, the InDesign CC version is a disaster.

    This problem cannot be solved by using any option in InDesign, and Koreans are using unverified sub software to solve this problem. And many Koreans are wondering why InDesign is a step backwards from the previous version and doesn't solve even these basic problems.

    It seems it's been quite some time since the CC version was released, and I wonder if Adobe has any plans to address this issue.

18. InDesign version 16.1. Hyperlinks interactivity function not working properly.

    When creating hyperlinks within a document, certain links, although functioning within the hyperlink panel, do not translate as links when published online or as an ePub. This is completely random, as other links set up in exactly the same way (often on the same page) work fine. Have tried everything I can think of to fix the issue myself but can't figure out why it is happening.

    Steps to recreate the issue:
    1. Set up document
    2. Set up multiple hyperlinks (mine are objects rather than text)
    3. Preview in interactivity panel and/or publish online

    Expected Result: Links should be in the document. Links should appear as clickable when hovered over.

    Actual Result: Some links do not appear (randomly). This happens no matter what you do to try and change it. Even if you try adding various other links to the selected object, or adding the same link that works in other objects...some objects refuse to translate as hyperlinks in the published version.

    I'm pretty sure this is a new issue, although I have tried reinstalling old versions of the software and the problem reoccurs. So have updated to the newest version again. Please help! Thank you

19. Object menu options not working/ not present/

    InDesign version 2017 CC

    Using plugins for work flow media news.

    Not updated InDesign since the plugins have not released newer supportive version to latest InDesign versions.

    I cannot use Object menu options like Fitting, Lock, Arrange..

    I have reset the preferences multiple times.

    Its just not solving this issue.

    Placing an EPS file generated from "Barcode" (by AppsForLife) does not work properly if the target box is empty. If box already contains a graphic, the file will place properly via "Place" or drag+drop.

    On a new image box or box where the existing image has been deleted, the following occurs (via Place or drag+drop):

    Image will seem to appear in the target box. Once mouse button is released, the imported image is no longer in the box and the pointer changes to a "placement selector" prompting to place the image in a new box.

    Working with the developer of the software that generates these EPS files seems to track the issue to a line in the EPS file. Removing the line that begins "%%HiResBoundingBox" in a text editor causes the EPS file to behave correctly.

    The developer has issued an update to their software that seems to fix this issue.

    Other in the Adobe discussion have tested the attached file. They have been able to repeat the problem on OS X 10.14 (Mojave) but not earlier MacOS or Windows installs.

    Although the issue seems to be corrected with the EPS software update, it was suggested I file a report here.
