1. CC Libraries freeze when closing and opening InDesign again

   The CC Libraries windows works fine, until you close the project & the InDesign app with the red X in the left top corner. (MacOS) It doesn't fully close and that is okay. But when you try to open any project again or create a new one, the CC Libraries freeze. You can still take out things from the window, but cannot scroll. The only option to fix that is to restart the whole app.

   Version of Adobe InDesign: 21.1

   Steps to reproduce the issues:
   1. Create new file
   2. Use CC Libraries
   3. Close the window with red X (Mac OS)
   4. Open it again and create new file
   5. The CC Library is frozen, cannot be used. (The files can still be taken from the window, but you cannot scroll)

   Expected result
   To work normally as before

   Actual result

2. Make it possible to paste a color code containing a # character

   Please make it possible to paste a HEX color text string containing a hash character (e.g. "#ffffff"), into the the small text box in the color panel.
   At least on Mac, it is not possible in Indesign 20.1. Very annoying.

3. 'Share for review' showing name of a previously shared document, hasn't recognised which document to share

   InDesign 16.0
   Mac OS 10.15.7
   Chrome Version 86.0.4240.183

   Share for review should respond to whichever tab is in focus

   Steps to recreate.

   1. Have 2 InDesign documents you want to share for review
   2. Open one of the files
   3. Go to share and review, see the filename populated in the panel's field
   4. Create the share
   5. Open the other InDesign document
   6. Go to share and review

   Expected: Document that is in focus in the open tab is the file that is being shared

   Actual: Previous file's name is still populated. Changing it and sharing creates an error.

   And now this has happened, restarting InDesign and opening the second, as-yet unshared document only, will refresh the sharing panel and share correctly.

   InDesign 16.0
   Mac OS 10.15.7
   Chrome Version 86.0.4240.183

4. 'Reveal in CC Libraries' Doesn't Work

   Selecting a link and clicking 'Reveal in CC Libraries' opens the Libraries panel but doesn't actually find or reveal the asset, which is the functionality I would expect from such a button.

5. Unable to Stretch InDesign Across Two Monitors After Update

   Environment:

   OS: Windows (PC)
   InDesign Version: 21.0 x64
   Hardware: Dual-monitor setup

   Issue:
   After the latest major update, InDesign no longer supports spanning the application window across two monitors. When attempting to resize the window to cover both screens, the UI automatically snaps back to a single-monitor configuration.
   Expected Behavior:
   The application should allow the window to extend across multiple monitors, as was possible in previous versions.
   Observed Behavior:

   InDesign reverts to one monitor when stretched across two.
   Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop continue to support multi-monitor spanning without issue.

   Question:
   Has there been a change in multi-monitor support or window management in the latest release? Please advise on any configuration settings or workarounds.

6. Image tagged with sRGB, but InDesign assigns AdobeRGB (Workspace) and displays incorrect colors

   I´m using Indesign 13.0.1 x64

   To recreate please use the following steps (I have AdobeRGB as Working-space and preserve profiles):
   1. Create a new document
   2. Place the attached Image "Portrait_Edip-original.jpg"
   3. Look for the Profile in the links-panel

   The image has sRGB but displays as Workspace RGB but my workspace is AdobeRGB and also the colors are incorrect.
   Bridge and Photoshop both show the right profile.
   When i open the image in Photoshop and save it as jpeg it works in InDesign.

   I have this issue from time to time but now i´m sure it´s a bug.

   I work for a publishing company and we make 50 magazines a year with an average of 100 pages and 3 pictures per page. So we cannot check if indesign assigned each icc correctly.

   Although this does not always happen but at least 10 pictures per magazine.

   I have also attached the newly saved image, the indesign document and a screenshot of my color settings.

7. Embedding links won’t work, if you do not inbed each links manually

   If you choose multiple pictures in your links-panel and click “embedding all instances”, it does show the “embedded in document”-icon, but this is a false information. It only works, if you embed every image individually after selecting one by one image.

8. Crashing when entering text in paragraph style name field

   To get this crash...
   Duplicate an existing Paragraph Style via Panel drop down menu.

   Select text in name field.

   Type... crashes within the first couple of characters.

   Message... Internal Error

   To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

9. Adobe Review: automatic adoption of text suggestions and incorrect filter behavior

   When I receive comments on replacing text or deleting text sections via Adobe Review and these are displayed in Adobe InDesign 20.0, the display switches to comments with the status clarified. After each correction, which cannot be accepted with approval but must be made manually, I have to set the filter in the control panel back to unresolved comments to work on.
   It would be desirable for a filter to only be set in the control panel when I activate it. I would also like options for inserting, replacing or deleting text to be applied with a click and not have to be done manually.

10. Command-Tab doesn't switch to Indesign document

    I use Command-Tab constantly on MacOS to switch between Indesign and other open apps on my system. In ID2019, when I use the shortcut to switch back to ID from another app, it no longer consistently brings the frontmost open ID document into focus. Instead what happens is the palettes will come in to view but the frontmost window of the app I'm switching from is still on top of the open ID file. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's very annoying. I am most often switching between ID and Acrobat Pro or Google Chrome and this behavior seems to happen no matter the other open apps on my system.

11. Ctrl + Tab Keyboard Shortcut Bug

    I tried to assign "Ctrl"+"Tab" to "Window Next" (to get the same shortcut as OS-default) but Indesign seems not to do anything when hitting this shortcut. When assigning other shortcuts to the same action it works.

12. New Document Thumbnails

    I don't see the added value of the 'Thumbnails' in the New Document panel.
    Those are rather confusing than functional, since all have the same aspect ratio.
    Won't it be nice when the default icon reflects the actual orientation and aspect ratio?

13. When Application Frame is Turned Off, News Windows Size Behind GUI/Tools

    I'm one of the many users that doesn't like the Application Frame in either Illustrator or InDesign because I usually like to drag&drop things or switch between applications on my Mac as I work creatively.

    I hate that when a new window is generated (opening a file or creating a new one) it is sized beyond the size of my laptop screen and always BEHIND my docked tools in both Illustrator and InDesign software. Photoshop has the sense not to do this so whats going on with these other tools???

    I have to drag the new window over just to get to a corner and scale it back down to match my work environment every single time. Really frustrating and it seems like such an easy fix. Please, please let's do a little QA for UX and UI on these 2 important tools. I would truly appreciate that and so would a large number of your other user-base, I'm sure.

14. False layer gets duplicated through context menu

    If for example layer 1 is selected in the layers panel and layer 2 is right-clicked, the context menu for layer 2 appears. If you choose to duplicate the layer 2, the selected layer 1 gets duplicated. Deleting works as expected.

    We have been able to reproduce the issue and it is currently under investigation.

    Workaround: Select the Layer that needs to be duplicated to avoid the issue.

15. [ID-4216889]Objects on the page jump if a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page and vice versa

    Hi developers,
    this is a longstanding bug:

    With facing pages documents on EVERY document page there is a zone where jumping of objects will happen.

    I call this the jump zone. All objects on a page that will jump are clearly inside the page's area. The bug has nothing to do with rounding errors where object edges are at the edge of a page.

    The objects should not move if pages are added or removed, if numbering of pages is changing. Nevertheless they do. Always. Unless, the zone has a width of zero.

    Below all the details.

    What is a jump zone?
    If horizontal values for left and right margins differ, there is a BUG that in effect forms a zone on the page.
    I call this zone JUMP ZONE because objects that touch the zone with their edges could jump horizontally.

    When will objects jump?
    1. When a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page OR a right-hand page becomes a left-hand page.

    1. When a left-hand page becomes a right-hand page and later when a right-hand page becomes a left-hand page again.

    This could happen within a single InDesign document open.

    WARNING:
    It could even happen to InDesign documents that are not visibly open.
    That's with InDesign documents that are part of a InDesign book file.
    The book file's feature with auto-numbering pages can do this even if no document is visibly open.
    The damage is done if auto-numbering took place AND the book file is saved.

    How large is the jump zone?
    The height of the zone is the height of the page.
    The width of the zone can be calculated:
    inner margin MINUS outer margin

    How large is the jump?
    The width of the jump zone.

    Where is the jump zone positioned?
    Positive value: The zone is at the spine of the page.
    Objects that touch the zone jump towards the spine.

    Negative value: The zone is at the edge of a page away from the spine.
    Objects that touch the zone jump away from spine.

    What versions of InDesign are affected?
    All versions CC up to InDesign 2020, Mac OS X and Windows.
    InDesign CS6, Mac OS X and Windows.

    Possibly also InDesign CS5 and CS5.5, Mac OS X and Windows.
    I did not test this.

    How can I avoid jump zones?
    Make right and left margin values the same!

    Are there workarounds if I cannot avoid jump zones?

    1. Anchor objects
       that touch the jump zone to text frames that do not touch the jump zone.
       Nested objects will not jump if the parent objects are not touching the jump zone.

    2. Group an object
       to another one that is touching the top or the bottom edge of the page.
       Tests are showing that objects will not jump if they touch the bottom OR the top of the page.
       ( OR both, bottom and top edges of the page .)

    Other things to consider about moving objects?
    The following is independently of jump zones:
    Objects could move to other pages if their edges touch exactly the horizontal edges on pages in facing pages.
    Depending on the version of InDesign this could also happen with objects touching the spine.
    Reason: Rounding errors.

    What can provoke all this?
    1. Add or remove an odd number of pages
    so that left-hand pages become right-hand pages and vice versa.

    1. Renumber start pages of sections so that left-hand pages become right-hand pages and vice versa.

    Note:
    Every document has at least one section by default.
    The start of that section is the first page in the document.

16. PDFs Export to Google Drive as 0 Bytes, for Anyone on MacOS Ventura

    Sometime in approximately late January 2023, my workgroup began having difficulty exporting PDFs from InDesign to our Google Drive. The PDF files appear on the Drive but as 0 bytes and can't be opened/viewed from the Chrome side of the Drive. We have isolated the problem as specific to anyone who is on MacOS Ventura. We believe the problem stems from a late January/early February upgrade to either the Google Drive, InDesign or Ventura (or perhaps a perfect storm combo of all three). We have 8 InDesign users in our workgroup and only the three who upgraded to Ventura are experiencing this problem. The PDF files on our Google Drive can be viewed and behave normally when accessed through Finder on the Mac side by the author of the PDF file. When accessed through Chrome on the Google Drive side, they appear as 0 bytes. The workaround we discovered is to drag the PDF from the Finder window into the Chrome window, replacing the PDF file on the Chrome side, at which point it acts normally for everyone. Every time the PDF is modified, the process has to be repeated.

    Giving the Drive "time to sync" is not the issue as we've gone back and checked bad PDFs 24 hours later and they are still bad. PDFs exported from other CC apps behave normally, as do other file formats (JPG, PNG, etc.) exported from InDesign so this is definitely a very specific ID + PDF + Ventura + Google problem.

17. Copy and paste from InDesign 15.1.3 to InDesign 16.0

    When copy pasting from 1 version to the other, Objects (including Text Frames) are getting pasted as an embedded EPS without showing as so in the Links Panel.

18. Can't Duplicate multiple Page with Alt + Drag and place them in a specific place just moves to bottom

    This used to work but the past years updates have stopped this function, again another thing that worked removed! You used to be able to shift click on a few pages in the pages panel then alt drag them and place them ANYWHERE in the document, sometimes i liked them straight underneath current pages but now for some unknown reason its doesn't allow me to do this with more than one page? when you try to move the selected pages nothing happens and the pages are just duplicated at the end of the document not very helpful with a 100 page document why has this been removed?

19. InDesign opens documents in read only after upgrading to InDesign 2023(18.0)

    Indesign CC 2023 version 18.0 Files open as “Read Only”
    As soon as updated, some files have started to open “Read Only” (RO)
    My OS: Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19044 or 21H2
    PC Desktop
    I am working remotely through a VPN to a server IP address
    I have Indesign 2023 18.0 , and Indesign CS6 installed. I have not opened the CS6 in years. Also noted: My machine does not automatically uninstall the former version when it updates. I manually uninstalled Indesign 2022 after I started using the 2023. At first I thought the RO problem was a conflict, so that was the first thing I did.
    Older version files open up as “converted” ok
    I am able to do all writing on my remote server, I can “save as”, and export files, create folders, delete files, ect.
    If I copy a file that opens RO to my local desktop, I can then open it fine (read/write - RW). If I make changes to that file, save, and then copy it back to remote server, it will open as RO again.
    This does not seem to be happening to every file. I started working on 2 files yesterday, opened and made changes, saved, and closed both multiple times in the morning, then a couple hours later, they opened RO. Then another hour later, one of them opened ok -RW.
    I have a coworker that has the same PC OS Windows system version, and same Indesign version. We both access to the files through same VPN, he is just not in same location as me (about 20 miles away). However, his system automatically uninstalled older versions when it updates. He can open the same files that open RO for me, and they open fine, RW, for him.
    If I open a brand new blank file and I copy and paste all contents from a file that opened RO, then close the RO file and save my Untitled document over it, it will them open up ok when I go back immediately and open it. However, if I go back to open that file, say an hour later, It may or may not open up “Read Only” again.
    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Indesign 2023, and checking to make sure updated. I have unplugged (reset) my modem.
    I cannot change my preferences for updates to uninstall older versions at this time as I have a graphics card issue with the latest version of Photoshop. I cannot go back to using Indesign 2022, as my cowerker has already been using 2023 for awhile and many files are converted.
    It seems to be intermittent, and almost like there is a problem with files not closing properly? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    This issue has been resolved in the latest version of InDesign - InDesign 18.4

    Please update to this version of InDesign from Creative Cloud Desktop application to get the fix.

20. "Rolloff" in Animationpanel not working in CC2017 / CC2018 / MAC / WINDOWS

    I am working on a diplom project right now, and faced a really annoying bug in InDesign. I want to create a rollover bar, wich slides up when I rollover / hover with my mouse over a certain object. I know without any kind of problems how I am able to create something like this, but my problem is, that the object simply wont return to its destination where it came from, when I rolloff it again, like going away with my mouse. It stays on its place once the animation has been completed, and when I hover over it again, the animations simply restarts. Hard to explain, easy to understand once you see it yourself.

    Try it yourself, hover over the 3 lines on the bottom, a bar should come up. Go away with mouse, it redoes the animation again, while it normaly should go down where it came from, when "Rolloff" in the Animationpanel is activated.

    Side-note: Exporting it with "Rolloff" deactivated does the exact same thing, so it seems like, that the tool "Rolloff" has no real function.

    In this YouTube tutorial, you can clearly see, someone achieving what I want in Adobe CS5, 7 years ago! A update for this section would also be great sometime, but it just seems like nothing has changed over the past 7 years.

    It doesnt matter if I try to succeed in this in CC17 / CC18 / Mac or Windows, both do not work.

    This is a tool that is so great to have, but it simply stops me from working correctly, because I am not able to use it. Please fix this as fast as possible. I am not doing all this for fun, I got a diplom project to complete, and just want to make it a little bit nicer by using things like the Animationpanel, instead of simple buttons only.
