1. Indesign crashes when changing Endnotes to footnotes

   I just updated to the 2021 that is really amazing. Only bug i have i can t any more convert endnotes to footnotes InDesign crashes each time on both of my computers . I am on Window 10 No idea why before i could do it. Thanks a lot

2. save as, export with USB C Adapter not working

   when using USB C adapter e.g. for external monitor i can´t save as or export. when i unplug the dialog window is showing but not working. (empty. see screenshot) when i close and reopen indesign save as and export ist working. plug in adapter: not working.

4. Workspace not loading correctly

   I use multiple screens on my Mac running 10.13.6 OS.
   I continually loose one of my palette sets from view. When I load my custom workplace the character \ paragraph / etc appear as I have saved them, but this randomly disappears - if I go to window and select character the spinning wheel tales 10 - 15 seconds to load up the pallet again and all is Ok for a while, then it disappears again - Tried saving a new workspace many times but always same thin happens - this is only happening after the last update.
   Running ID 14.0

6. Buttons losing functionality when updating Table of Contents

   When you have a graphic or textbox and its converted to a button its lossing functionality when updating the Table of Contents.

   Apply go to Destination to the button and pick the text anchor it jumps too, when you update the Table of Contents the drop down list jumps back to the top link in the list. So it loses functionality.

   I found the same thing to happen when you choose show/hide buttons. It clears out what you have picked for showing what buttons you want on the page, it sets them to the normal icon.

   This is very frustrating. We are a large company that is always creating highly Interactive PDFs. This needs to get fixed right away or have a work around until its fix. Please let me know if samples are needed. This issue can always be duplicated.

7. Drag and drop of master pages between documents not working as expected

   Indesign 20.5, Windows 11
   Problem: it's possible to drag & drop a master page from one opened document to another opened document, but only if the documents are arranged side by side. For comparison: in Photoshop, if you want to copy a layer between documents, you can simply grab it, move the mouse pointer to the other document's tab, which would then switch to that document and then you drop. Not so with Indesign. In the same way of thinking it should be possible to drag & drop ID layers between documents, but this doesn't work at all.
   Please align such behavior between your tools.

   Indesign 20.5, Windows 11
   Problem: it's possible to drag & drop a master page from one opened document to another opened document, but only if the documents are arranged side by side. 9. Cannot Export in PDF format

   Adobe InDesign version: 16.0.1 x64

   Platform: Windows 10, Version 20H2 (build SO 19042.685)

   Problem:
   Suddenly, from a couple of days, I cannot export in PDF format anymore.
   When trying to export a file, I receive the message "Failed to Export PDF" (or something similar, I use the Italian version) – see image 1.

   It doesn’t matter the settings in the export window, I tried almost all the combinations, but the PDF generation fails.
   I can export in.jpeg, for example, but it is not useful for me.

   Infos:
   The same file has been successfully exported just a couple of hours before.
   The only change in the tool / PC configuration was the re-installation of a font type (specifically, the Conduit ITC Pro).
   I re-installed it because, even if it was correctly installed, I was not able to see the text in that specific font in InDesign.
   I un-installed it and then re-installed it via the Windows settings (Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts).
   The font was not an Adobe Font.
   After that, everything seemed to be solved, but I was unable to export the file in PDF.
   I noticed that the font was listed three times in the “Find/replace Font” window (see image 2).

   So, I replaced the font with the same one and then the list presented just one instance.
   Solved! In this way, I’ve been able to export the file.

   Then, I tried with another file, but I encountered the same problem with another font.
   In this case, it is a font used in the header of a master page and the text is a “text variable” that I use to identify the product name.
   Also in this case, the text is not displayed, even if the font is available in the font list (see image 3).

   If I change the font, the text is displayed (see image 4).

   The font, in this case, is an Adobe Font (see image 5).

   The font is correctly “activated” and available in the Creative Cloud Desktop app (see image 6).

   And also in Windows (Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts), it is correctly displayed and recognized (see image 7).

   I solved replacing the font and checking the "Redefine Style When Changing All” box, because several paragraph styles use the same font, but I’d need to use this font.
   In another PC, with the same configuration, everything works well.
   What can I do to solve this font issue? Why has it happened?

10. An error icon for Background Tasks Circle progress element.

    Try to include one Caution or Exclamation Icon near to the circle progress bar to understand it is not progressing but stuck with error.

    Otherwise users get confused with that the process is going on, and wasting too much time. Presently it is shown only on the Background Task window.

11. Place; inconsequent text string in dialog

    When choosing File -> Place the dialog says "Open" on the selected item. In stead of "Place"
    In training on indesign i allways have to explain this. We can only Open indesign files, but we can Place other media. The dialog window should use the term Place.

12. Cross-Reference won't save a <cs style="stylename"></cs> format. It just strips the tag out of the data.

    Before updating to the latest version of ID, I would get an error each time I tried to use the <cs> tag to format a cross-reference. It wouldn't let me save the data.

    Now it lets me save the data, but it just strips the tag out.

    I have a character setting called Bold.
    
    I defined a cross-reference format as:
    <cs style="Bold"><fullPara /></cs> on page <pageNum />

    I save it, and I click OK. Then I reopen the format page, and it says the following:
    <fullPara /> on page <pageNum />

    It's like the tag never existed. No matter what I try, the tag never saves. I can apply a character style to the entire cross-reference, but not half of it. It is all or nothing. I can make text changes to the tag like adding quotes without a problem.

    Error when exporting to Adobe PDF (Interactive)

    Choose File > Export > Format select: Adobe PDF (Interactive) > click 'Save' > Click 'Export' > Error appears above 'Generating PDF' modal window.

14. sharing

    keep the option to remove the share button as long as it not working.
    It is the 4th major update it it still does not work at all!!!!!

    you also removed the option to remove the button

    also, the window pops up with black screen creating hangs to Indesign

15. InDesign v15.1 slow to open and poor performance generally

    Another decrease in performance between v15.0 (whcih was already very slow compared to v14) and v15.1 on Windows 10 x64 with a very high-spec workstation.

    Particularly frustrating is when you click on the icon in the taskbar to launch the app it appears as though nothing has happened and takes 30 seconds or so before the splash screen appears and the app appears to have launched. By which time you usually tried launching it again a few times!

17. Edit with other - doesn't see Photoshop as an application

    I use the Indesign feature on the links menu to Edit With, either using the default application or another. We just updated to the latest CC (ps, il, in) and the other application isn't the same. For any jpg or pdf, it shows Photoshop or illustrator or Acrobat as available to open the image selected. However, if I select an ai. file, it shows Illustrator as the default, and Preview as another option - no Photoshop. I select Other to add Photoshop, go to the applications folders, click on Photoshop and it's only seeing it as a folder, not as an application.

    From a finder window, if I click on an ai. file, choose open with other, go to the applications folders, select Photoshop it does see it as an applications and allows me to open the file.

    It was a very useful, speedy way to edit images in either illustrator or photoshop using the Edit With in Indesign.

18. Right to Left paragraph tool

    I've got a ME supporting CC but the 2017 versions of pretty much every Adobe program I've encountered is faulty when it comes to middle east features... even when it has support, it's very hard to find.

    My InDesign supports world-ready single lines and I even somehow managed to get the right-to-left/left-to-right icons on my paragraph window, but after re-installing InDesign, I lost it and I can't get it back.

    Please make this easier to use. It's very hard for middle eastern-character using people to work like this.

19. Share link is buggy in 2026 version

    I recently updated to Adobe InDesign 21.1 and have had several issues with the Share for Review link.

    • InDesign periodically just drops the link and I have to create a new one to share so I loose what comments people have made already.

      • When I click on SHARE button on the top left of my screen that says “Share for Review - create link to capture feedback” in order to update the link it gives me an error code that says “There was an error updating the artifact.” It won't update.
      • Items that were “pinned” switch to “unmapped” when I update the link so it makes it difficult to find where I need to make a correction.

    I recently updated to Adobe InDesign 21.1 and have had several issues with the Share for Review link.

20. Problem Selecting Hebrew vowels and diacritics

    Problem Selecting Hebrew vowels and diacritics especially when there are Hebrew and English mixed in the paragraph, it seems like there is no visual distinction to determine what is being selected. This is so frustrating, and makes it impossible to use in the long run.
