Jumbled Text
>>>I'm having an issue with catalogs I'm working with. When I open the most recent version of an INDD file, there is jumbled text in the headings and subheadings, even though the PDF exported fine when the file was last opened. Advice?

Version 2021 V16 problems with the text

text
>>>My text changes to alternating capital and lower case letters throughout all typed words. It does not change if I have caps lock on the keyboard but will be all caps if I select it on the menu bar. But it still shows red spelling errors with asking to add the work to the dictionary. It is shown in alternating caps/lower case letters there too.

Text not active after clicking on pdf markup comment panel
>>>After clicking on the comment in the pdf comments panel, and applying the comment (or selecting the comment after auto-applying), sometimes I have to click again in the actual text frame to start typing any adjustments i need to make. It would be great if I could just type in the text frame after clicking on the comment, without having to again click in the text frame.

Preflight panel Overset text not showing page number
>>SEE ALSO

> Preflight panel Overset text not identifying page number>For a couple different files, I got an error message in the Preflight panel, indicating the presence of Overset text, but NO page number. In both files, it said it was an issue with footnotes, but not where. One of the suggested fixes is to allow Split Footnotes, but that option is already checked.

Converting a text URL to a hyperlink removes the instances of the text variables!!!

>It is obvious that URLs are convenient to generate from text variables. Especially if there are thousands of them!

> This would be a phenomenal solution not only to our problem, but...>Instead of substituting the values of text variable instances, nothing is replaced (empty strings instead of text variable instances), and the hyperlink (which looks and prints correctly in the text) is generated

Interaction between Text Wrap, Optical Margin Alignment and Numbered List
>>When a text frame with activated Optical Margin Alignment containing numbered list wraps around another text frame the numbering is incorrectly aligned. The affected numbers noticeably stick outside of the text frame and thus create unpleasant left margin. Only numbering on wrapped lines is affected, numbering below the wrap behaves as expected.
>>Similarly, if the text frame is modified so as its border lays entirely outside of the area affected by wrapping offset, the optical alignment of the numbering behaves as expected. This at least provides some workaround.
>>I am attaching a screenshot of the behaviour as

Preview 'glitching' when changing fonts in text blocks
>>Had this problem in 17.2 but still occurring even now I've upgraded to 17.3.
>
> Working on a Mac Mini macOS Monterey 12.5.1>If I make any changes within a text block (weight, style or actual font) the selected text will 'glitch' and does not refresh properly when I'm choosing a font or different weight of the same font, causing issues with visibility and layout. It only corrects itself when I click off the text block, either onto the dashboard or another section of the design. This isn't ideal when I'm making design decisions as it impairs layout

Alignment of text box ignores anchored objects
>>When I have an anchored object (lets say an image) hanging at the bottom of the text box, aligning the text to the bottom of the text box will align the text only, and cuts off the image at the bottom.
…
> I imagine this also happens to images at the top of the text box, when aligning to the top.
> I think that by design, anchired objects should be calculated as part of the text box's content, and should be aligned to the bottom, as text would.
> If not, it should at least be an option1 vote -

Unable to drag & drop images within text frame through custom plugin on Indesign CC2020
>>We have a custom plugin, we are using this plugin since Indesign CS4. We have an option to drag & drop images from this plugin pallet into Indesign Layout. With the latest CC2020 SDK, we have upgraded our plugin from CC18 to CC2020 & it works fine on all other functionality except "Drag & drop" within text frame.
>>We didn't made any update to the code, the same option works fine till CC2019. Is there any known issue with CC2020 sdk for drag & drop?

Incopy with Conditional text not holding
>>>I design electrical manuals in InDesign, some text is shared between books using InCopy. Some of the text is product specific so I use Conditions to turn that text off and on. But when I create the Condition in one book and then open the book with shared InCopy links, that text and everything after it is now that same Condition.
>
> I tried everything to fix this. The only workaround I found to work is making the Paragraph Return before the text I want Conditioned and leaving the Paragraph return after my text Unconditional will work.1 vote -
Images pixelated when published online, if the frame is scaled
>>>Images inside scaled frames can be pixelated when published. It looks like the frame scaling is applied to the resolution i.e. a 10% scaled frame will have 10% of the desired resolution. Reproducible if 'Adjust scaling percentage' preference is set. Setting a higher export resolution in the 'Publish Online' dialogue doesn't fix it.
>>InDesign CC 2018, probably older versions with Publish online.
