1. Error encountered while reading TIFF image

   Adobe Indesign 2023 (v18).
   When render TIFF images from Blender using the Deflate (ZIP) option.
   All other compression options gives images with black background and no transparency.
   Up to v17 Indesign 2022 these images imported just fine.
   When doing a resave in Photoshop with no changes, the images imports fine.

2. shift to constrain and option-drag to copy only working intermittently now

   1. InDesign 16.1
   2. In a document, select an object. Then hold shift and scale the object. Or hold option and drag to copy the object.
   3. When holding shift, I expect constrained proportions. When holding Option, I expect a copy.
   4. Both key modifiers work perfectly in Illustrator, so it's not my keyboard nor my Mac. What I get when holding shift is the same as not holding shift - unconstrained proportions. What I get when holding option is the same as with not holding option - the object is just moved, not copied.
   5. I can't show a test because I can't show you when the shift or option key is pressed.

   I should clarify the intermittent part of my title. It seems that if I keep at it long enough, keep option-dragging, or shift-scaling, at some point InDesign wakes up and the key combination kicks in. But that's crazy. This is still a productivity killer. Please fix!

3. Problem with endnote formatting when converting to EPUB

   I was converting a print book file to an EPUB using the 19.4 updated version of Indesign. The print file had footnotes on every page.. In the conversion options box, I selected the option to convert footnotes to endnotes, but the formatting of the numbers in the EPUB were not consistent. Each footnote number that was on a new page in the original Indesign files was bigger than the other numbers (see screenshots). To attempt to fix the problem, I converted the footnotes to endnotes in the actual Indesign file before exporting to EPUB. This fixed the numbering issue but added an ugly, thick border around the endnotes (see screenshots). Reverting my Indesign program back to version 19.3, the conversion of footnotes to endnotes in the EPUB transfer worked correctly, and all numbering was uniform.

5. New Document UI Issue

   When opening InDesign and creating a new document, I am treated with a black box that houses all the options and selections to open a document. If I change the UI to touch based, it shows up. When I go back to regular mouse and keyboard, it goes black again.

6. Please fixz Indesign so that the font (Source sans pro) has all options. It changes itself to Source sans Pro (OTF) and then has only light

   Fonts missing in Indesign but they work OK in Illustrator and in Affinity Designer. If I drop down the menu every time to more fonts they seem to appear for that instance.

7. Alternate text added to graphic missing in exported PDF when using Articles panel.

   1.) Apply alternate text to graphic using Object > Object Export Options.

   2.) Anchor graphic into frame

   3.) Add containing text frame to Articles panel.

   4.) Export to PDF including tags

   The result is that the exported PDF file doesn't have the alternate text applied

8. Clustered QR Code

   The QR codes are very clustered making them nearly impossible to scan. It would be helpful to have a QR Styles option or more options for editing the density of the QR code. It would also be great to have ability to add a Logo or image to the center of a QR code.

9. save document

   I have InDesign 16.0 with a Dell Windows 10 platform. When i use the file->save option InDesign randomnly chooses the folder from all of the document folders opened during the current session for the document to be saved in, rather than the existing folder where the document to be saved originated. Since on any given day, i might have opened 10 documents in 10 different folders, i have remember EVERY document worked on to hunt for my file. It used to be that if i used file->save InDesign would automatically target the source folder from which the document opened.

10. Bug Report: “Find/Change” Story Option Not Appearing

    Hi Adobe Support Team,

    I would like to report a bug in Adobe InDesign. When using the Find/Change command, even though I select Story in the selection area, the Story option does not appear in the Find section.

    Currently, the only workaround I’ve found is to close and reopen InDesign, but the issue recurs every time. I can provide a screenshot to illustrate the problem if needed.

    Please let me know how I can assist in resolving this issue.

11. Accessibility Alternate Text Issues in Acrobat

    The file is designed where certain graphic elements are grouped together to make editing easier for others. In this case, horizontal dividers are made from two basic rectangles and a text box, grouped together.

    Each rectangle shape is tagged as "horizontal divider" in the export options for accessibility. When I export to PDF and run the full accessibility check, I'm told that the group failed the "figures alternate text" test.

    I then apply alternate text to the group in the export options. I run the full accessibility check in Acrobat and I am told that everything inside the group failed the "nested alternate text" test.

    I remove the alternate text from the rectangles, export, run the full accessibility test, and I'm told the rectangles failed the "figures alternate text" test.

    The bug is that no matter how the file is set up, it can't pass the full accessibility test. If I include the alt text, I get an error that alt text is nested and that I need to remove the alt text. When I remove the alt text, I get an error saying that alt text is needed. I either get one error or the other.

    While this could be fixed in Acrobat if it were a one or two page document, these horizontal rules exist across hundreds of pages and there should be a way to set it up in InDesign so that they export with the correct alternate text applied to them so it passes the accessibility full check.

12. Request: import of layers when placing a child INDD

    At the moment, there is only the option in the extended Place dialog to switch layers of the placed child INDD on or off. Switching layers of a child object should be possible in the parent INDD. Would be way more convenient than right-clicking every child object and select the Layer options.

13. Applescript Droplet: InDesign 2020 issue

    A much used droplet to export one or more InDesign documents to PDF (with dialog and settings) will not work with InDesign 2020 (v15.0.0.155) anymore (fine with InDesign CC 2019). InDesign 2020 opens the first (or the only) document. I can select options in the upcoming dialogue box, but then crashes immediately by clicking OK with an error message (see screenshot).

    However, the same base code of the script works directly from InDesign to export the active document to PDF without any problems.

    InDesign 2020 may not handle "on open ..." and / or "repeat with ..." in the droplet ?!

14. Inconsistent names of spaces in Czech UI

    There is a mess in the names of spaces in Czech UI. The names of spaces are not consistent:

    Em Space = "Em mezera" or "Dlouhá mezera"
    En Space = "En mezera" or "Krátká mezera"
    Nonbreaking Space = "Pevná mezera" or "Nedělitelná mezera"

    Depending on the situation, the user sees either one or the other name for an identical space.

    I suggest to:
    1. Use "En mezera" and "Em mezera" only. It is not the traditional Czech name, it is an Anglicism, but quite widespread and understandable
    2. Use "Čtverčíková mezera" and "Půlčtverčíková mezera", the traditional typographic terms, nevertheless some may find it obsolete

    Terms "Dlouhá mezera" and "Krátká mezera" are confusing. It means "Long space" and "Short space". But how long? What does short means? It indicates that it is shorter than the default space, but it is actually wider. Both terms were never used in Czech language. Professionals use "Čtverčíková mezera", young people use "Em mezera". No one would ever use "Dlouhá mezera".

    As for the nonbreaking spaces, correct options for "Nonbreaking space" and "Nonbreaking space (fixed width)" are:

    Nedělitená mezera
    Nedělitená mezera (pevná šířka)
    or
    Nezlomitelná mezera
    Pevná mezera
    or
    Nedělitená mezera
    Pevná mezera

    Explanation:

    "Nedělitelná mezera" or "Nezlomitelná mezera" is the correct term for Nonbreaking space of variable width

    "Pevná mezera" is the correct name for Nonbreaking space of fixed width

    "Nedělitelná mezera (fixed with)" is a weird neologism. It is something like "Horse (with stripes)" instead of "Zebra".

15. InDesign Effects applied directly to Text do not update when the text is changed

    Some effects that are applied directly to the text do not update when the text is changed. If the same effect is assigned to the text frame (object), this error does not occur. Switching to GPU Preview or GPU Acceleration on the Mac or turning off the same option has no effect on the error.

    Windows 10 mit InDesign Version 16.2.1 x64, only a time delay is noticeable.

    On Mac
    Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7 mit InDesign 2021, 16.4
    Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7 mit InDesign 2022, 17.0
    the effect remains for the old text until you save the file and open it again.

16. Endnote Font Size Problems

    Version: InDesign 14

    Steps: When placing an endnote in a frame "Loaded by Place Curser", the font size used for the end note does not honor the font size determined by the style. This includes when the paragraph style is set in the endnote options, as well as when the paragraph style is applied by selecting the endnote text.

    1. Create endnote style, and set it in endnote options
    2. Set endnote text frame to "loaded by place curser" in endnote options
    3. Add an endnote to the text, and place endnote text frame
    4. The Endnote text added to this frame does not honor text size
    5. Select endnote text and manually apply correct font size
    6. Add another endnote (font size changes again--27 pt font for some reason)

    This font size behavior carries over no matter what paragraph style is selected, including "Basic Paragraph". The only way to get the correct font size is to manually set it in the Character Panel with the endnote text selected. Adding a new endnote overrides the manual font size once again.

    It seems that endnotes will honor the font, color and leading of a paragraph style, but will change the size of the font every time to (in my case) 27pt.

    Version: InDesign 14

    How are you adding the Endnote text to the frame? Are you copying text and pasting it? If so, have you tried using ‘Paste without formatting’?

17. Opening new document and no access to most menu items

    v. 16.1

    1. open existing document
    2. most menu options greyed out, not available even by shortcuts
    3. i should be able to open a document and print or copy something or paste into... no functions are available!
    4. at some point, the functions come back, but i'm not sure when or how.

18. Hide spread does not work with publish online

    InDesign v 19.0 - Publish Online
    I welcomed the fairly new 'Hide Spread' option, which is long overdue. But unless this is a bug, I am astonished that the hide spread feature does not work when you use the Adobe Publish Online option!?
    I think the initial message said the hidden pages will be excluded when exporting (to PDF I presume), but I assumed it would also work when using the Publish Online option!
    But my experience publishing online just now shows me the hidden pages are always included. I changed paste board set-up to 'Digital Publishing' in case that was needed (made no difference), and checked the preferences in case there was a specific option to take up (there wasn't).
    Frustratingly a search of Adobe help and Google did not reveal whether this feature should work in Publish Online, or whether it did not.

    It doesn't sound like a stretch to have that hide spread feature working on Publish Online, and it just seems like an error or massive oversight for it not to be included or referenced.

19. Line Jumps by Half its Stroke Weight in InDesign CC (Version 18.3)

    In InDesign CC (Version 18.3), there is a persistent bug where a line jumps unexpectedly by half its stroke weight when attempting to change its length. This issue has been present for some time and occurs consistently. Enabling or disabling the scaling options in the settings does not have any effect on this behavior.

    Steps to Reproduce:

20. Remove file extension in Captions

    I want to set up Captions to have the filename beneath the image, but I want an option to hide the extension.
