1. Wrong position of autocorrect

   Sometimes when a pdf markup is for a space between two words, the autocorrect creates the space in the wrong place, one character ahead of where it should be, so for example, if the markup was to the words removespace, the result would be removes pace.

3. Incorrect diacritic position for some letters when using bullets

   When using the latest version of Noto Sans Arabic (2.012), if bullets/numbering is enabled in InDesign for a line containing a word with a medial position jeem ج, the dot of the jeem gets out of place. If bullets/numbering are not used, then all is well. I submitted this as a bug on GitHub for the Noto Sans team, but they say it is an issue with InDesign and the layout engine.    To reproduce:

   1. Create a text frame using the "ME Type Tool" in InDesign (for a right-to-left text frame).

   2. Paste وين نتجمع؟ in the text frame. Notice the dot of the letter jeem is proper, showing below the main part of the letter.

   3. Place the caret inside the text frame at the beginning of the phrase.

   4. In the "Bullets and Numbering" property section, click the "Numbered List" button to change the line of text to a numbered list.

   5. Notice that the dot for the jeem is no longer below the main part of the letter, but rather is now close to the baseline and barely visible.

4. Arabic diacritic positions corrupted when inserting footnote reference or Index page reference

   Indesign version: Last versions and older versions
   Steps to reproduce: Add footnote reference or Index page reference, some words in the same line will have dots and diacritics positioned wrongly.
   Expected result: Text should be the same before and after Reference insertions.
   Actual result: Diacritics and dots of some words in the same line gets repositioned wrongly.

5. Issue Report: Kerning Not Applied with Ligatures Enabled in InDesign 2024/2025 (Regression from 2023

   Description:
   A kerning issue occurs in Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 when using ligature-supported fonts like Microsoft Uighur Font. Manual kerning adjustments fail to apply when ligatures are enabled. This problem does not occur in InDesign 2023, where disabling ligatures allows kerning to function as expected.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Font Setup: Use Microsoft Uighur Font in InDesign 2024/2025. (I use my personal font)
   2. Text Input: Type a word containing the ligature اللہ (e.g., any two Arabic text).
   3. Enable Ligatures: Ensure ligatures are turned on (Character panel > Ligatures: ON).
   4. Apply Manual Kerning: Attempt to adjust kerning between characters (e.g., using Alt + Arrow Keys).
   - Observed Result: Kerning adjustments do not take effect.
   5. Disable Ligatures: Turn ligatures off (Character panel > Ligatures: OFF).
   - Observed Result: Kerning now works as expected.

   Expected Behavior:
   Manual kerning should apply regardless of ligature settings, as seen in InDesign 2023.

   Affected Versions:
   - Broken: InDesign 2024 & 2025

6. Alternate glyphs change order unpredicatably

   If I show some alternate glyphs (whether in the tiny popup - can we resize this? - or in the Glyphs panel), when I select one, the order of the other glyphs changes. This is really annoying - can they PLEASE stay in the same order, so I can easily switch between them. The current (wrong) system goes like this:
   Type a word
   Highlight a character
   The miniscule glyphs pop-up pops up
   I choose the second (miniscule) glyph in the pop-up
   I don't really like it
   I choose the third glyph in the pop-up
   Hold on - isn't that the same as the original one? Oh, all the glyphs have moved around - why??
   I choose the first one in the list - is that the same as the one in the second position originally? I think so...maybe - let's check...OH GRRRR!! They've all moved around AGAIN! WHY?!

   If they all stayed in the same place, choosing them would be MUCH easier and less painful. Please keep them in position and don't randomly shuffle them about for no reason! It's as if you took a leaf out of Windows' book and got inspiration from the fundamentally flawed Task Switcher which also re-arranges the order of things each time, just to annoy the user.

7. Bugs with Whitespaces in Justification’s Composer when work with Thai language and other issues

   As my report on bug with text wrapping in 2020 version (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38998636-bug-with-world-ready-composer-when-use-space-like). Many of issues were fixed, but some still remain.

   Before going to the issue in the title of the post, I want to specify some issue that doesn’t fix form my last report. If you see on the attachment img 02, you will see the issue about text encoding (it just only my suspicion) that happen when you just copy and paste text (specifically in Thai) form 2020 version to 2019 or to another text editor. After I had pasted text into TextEdit (you can find “Copy And Paste Text form Selection Text.txt” in attachment) almost vowels and tone marks were changed into quotation marks that which made me suspicious about text encoding in that language.

   I do not know that this issue has a relative to the issue in question. The white spaces. As you can see in “img 01” in attachment (and on Indesign file) on the text where I high-lighted.
   .
   First, you can see white space play as a character in the beginning of the line, like other white spaces such as thin-space. And you also see, when applied paragraph with Adobe World Ready Composer, either single line and paragraph, spaces other than whitespace that insert form space bar play as character on the end of the line when you apply text justify. In an example I shown to you, en-space did not collapse. It stilled as a character.

   Other than that, you can see the close parenthesis was sole wrapped into the next line, even it should stayed with the last word.

   Nearly half year, after you had claimed that Indesign support Thai, I still cloud’t update into 2020 version because of all these fatal issues.

   InDesign 16 has a mistake in Swiss German orthography: words containing "ss" are marked wrong, asking for german "ß".

9. Dictionary Hyphenation in Uppercase ignored (German)

   Custom hyphenation settings are ignored for uppercase words in user dictionary (at least in german).

10. appliedLanguage property of text-related objects returns language from application, not document

    When I do configuration for a language in a document, such as setting doubleQuotes, this language can be found in the document object's list of languages and has a different id than the language with the same name in the application object's list.

    But when I access text inside the document – regardless what I inspect, paragraph, words, character, textStyleRange – I expect to get the language properties as set in the document, but instead I get those as set in the app.

    I believe this to be a software bug.

11. Style names truncated unnecessarily

    The UI for the styles palette truncates the names of the styles to an unusable length if a keyboard shortcut is assigned (even when no truncating is needed).

    In the attached image, we see that there's a lot of space to the right.

    The keyboard shortcuts could also be shortened using the relevant symbols instead of words. eg

    "⌥⇧⊞1"

    "Opt+Shift+Num 1"

12. Duplicated characters ONLY IN PDF EXPORT!

    The following process creates a bug,
    which only appears when exporting to PDF:

    1) Write a few words (in Hebrew) and add 2 footnotes
    2) Set 'No break' to one of the characters between the 2 footnote references
    Bingo!
    Only it the PDF will the bug appear -
    The character (comma\colon\letter) after the first comment - is doubled!!!

    In InDesign everything looks normal!
    You only discover the mistake in the PDF/after printing!!

13. Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right text boxes and style sheets are confusing

    Dear Adobe InDesign Team,

    Please simplify how users specify left-to-right Western language text boxes and documents versus right-to-left Middle Eastern language text boxes and documents in the multi language version of InDesign.

    There are no fewer that four places where paragraph direction and language specification appear in various places in the InDesign workspace.

    Users would benefit from simplification of language-switching tools, because InDesign's interface does not readily expose what language text direction it is using and sometimes switches paragraph direction without users knowing what these international language settings are defaulting to.

    My issue had to do with US English text showing up properly in a text box, but when I tried to format a numbered list using the tab bar, the tab margin indicators were reversed, and I could not set up tabs.

    Issues also show up when a text box is identified as US English, but InDesign's dictionary thinks the texts is a right-to-left language and marks every word misspelled.

    Pleases simplify how languages are specified and have InDesign automatically switch paragraph direction once the user determines the language of the document.

    The only exception needed is when foreign words are embedded in text and need to appear right-to-left within a left-to-right text environment (or visa versa) — or when a document needs to be dual-language.

14. 3 types of consistent crashes during past 3 months

    Using version 14.0.2 x64 under Windows 10.

    Working on a 356-page book. Three types of crashes occur consistently:

    1 - When I export to PDF.
    2 - When I add pages, usually in increments of 10.
    3 - When I switch between single-page layout and 2-page spread layout.

    After every crash, when I go to open the file, inDesign offers to auto recover the file. When I say yes, InDesign warns me that the file might be corrupt. I always open anyway. After 3 months working on this book, I can't afford to start over, so I hope for the best.

    Three of the crashes have caused significant problems.

    1 - The first 38 pages had been deleted. I had to completely redo them.
    2 - The even-page master had been applied to all pages. I had to highlight all the odd pages and re-apply the odd-page master.
    3 - Tonight's crash resulted in master pages designations and therefore page numbers on all 356 pages being deleted. I have to highlight all the odd pages, re-apply the odd-page master, highlight all the even pages, and re-apply the even-page master.

    I have been using InDesign since the PageMaker days but my experience over these past three months is going to cause me to look elsewhere.... Word, Blurb, etc.

    Using version 14.0.2 x64 under Windows 10.

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

15. Remove Forced Line Breaks messes up Page Navigation markers

    When exporting as Reflowable EPUB with Page Navigation turned on, page markers need to be inserted immediately before the first word on the page. Often, this will be inside a paragraph.

    However, in InDesign 21.2, is the "Remove Forced Line Breaks" option is turned on, the markers are only being placed as <div> tags and never as <span> tags. This means that the page break markers are only placed between block elements and never inside them, so they don't accurately reflect where the page breaks occur in the print layout.

    Current export example:
    <p>A full paragraph with a page break inside.</p>

    <p>The next paragraph.</p>

    Desired export example:

    To replicate:
    1. Created a new file and fill with enough text for two pages.
    2. Ensure there is a paragraph that breaks from one page to the next.
    3. Export as EPUB (Reflowable) with both Page Navigation and Remove Forced Line Breaks turned on.

    The page marker will be inserted as a <div> between paragraphs. Export with Remove Forced Line Breaks turned off, and the marker will be a <span> in the correct place.

    Hello,

    For several months now, when I place a .docx document in inDesign, it can happen that a character is misinterpreted by inDesign.
    It's as if it's invisible for the layout, but it actually cuts the word in half for spelling correction, for example.
    When I copy it to search for it with inDesign with or without GREP, it does paste something (a lowercase L or an uppercase i preceded by a ^ in normal or ~ in GREP) but it doesn't find it.
    When displaying hidden characters it appears as two vertical red dots (see my photo).
    Sometimes it also appears at the very beginning of a sentence.

    Hello,

    For several months now, when I place a .docx document in inDesign, it can happen that a character is misinterpreted by inDesign.
    It's as if it's invisible for the layout, but it actually cuts the word in half for spelling correction, for example.
    When I copy it to search for it with inDesign with or without GREP, it does paste something (a lowercase L or an uppercase i preceded by a ^ in normal or ~ in GREP) but it doesn't find it.

17. Bugs with Whitespaces in Justification’s Composer when work with Thai language and other issues

    As my report on bug with text wrapping in 2020 version (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38998636-bug-with-world-ready-composer-when-use-space-like). Many of issues were fixed, but some still remain.

    Before going to the issue in the title of the post, I want to specify some issue that doesn’t fix form my last report. If you see on the attachment img 02, you will see the issue about text encoding (it just only my suspicion) that happen when you just copy and paste text (specifically in Thai) form 2020 version to 2019 or to another text editor. After I had pasted text into TextEdit almost vowels and tone marks were changed into quotation marks that which made me suspicious about text encoding in that language. (You can find .txt example download link in PS.)

    I do not know that this issue has a relative to the issue in question. The white spaces. As you can see in “img 01” in attachment (and on Indesign file) on the text where I high-lighted.

    First, you can see white space play as a character in the beginning of the line, like other white spaces such as thin-space. And you also see, when applied paragraph with Adobe World Ready Composer, either single line and paragraph, spaces other than whitespace that insert form space bar play as character on the end of the line when you apply text justify. In an example I shown to you, en-space did not collapse. It stilled as a character.

    Other than that, you can see the close parenthesis was sole wrapped into the next line, even it should stayed with the last word.

    Nearly half year, after you had claimed that Indesign support Thai, I still cloud’t update into 2020 version because of all these fatal issues.

18. Have more Title Case formatting options

    Please add more Title Case formatting options like AMA AP APA, Bluebook, Chicago, MLA;etc.
    The default one people often have to edit, making words like "of", "and";etc not start with a capital letter

19. search

    I use CC 2017, but of course have seen this issue in other versions, Mac, and PC. When typing in a search term, like search term, the letters I type in show up backward, if at all, so mret chraes... which of course makes searching impossible. I can close the program, close the dialog box, and it still keeps coming up. It's so frustrating when you have 1000s of pages and need to find multiple words in between to keep opening/closing/shutting down

20. Problem with Bookmarks that contain special characters

    I have a document with bookmarks that contain phrases with words containing special characters (specifically Italian accents, for example: L’ubiquità della collaborazione)

    Then I have buttons at the top of the document. Each button links to a specific bookmark. If the bookmarks contain this characters/accents, the button don't work.
    So the buttons only work when linking to bookmarks not contain special characters/accents.

    Solved the problem by changing the procedure I used to create bookmarks:

    This is what WON'T WORK:
    - highlighting all the text and then create a bookmark.
    Pro: The bookmarks are added automatically with all the sentence that was highlighted
    Cons: The bookmark that contains accents or apostrophes, won't work with buttons

    This is the way to SOLVE the problem:
    - Instead of highlighting a sentence you want to bookmark,
    - you just place the cursor at the beginning of the sentence
    - you create the bookmark and because you don't highlight the entire sentence you have to manually put the name of the bookmark
    Pro: works even if you have accents or apostrophes
    Cons: you have to write the name of the bookmark manually.
