Bug: Wrong centered text justification in round text frames
Center-aligned text in round text frames is misaligned, i.e. too far to the left. Please see screenshots for all details.
As soon as you convert the frame to a rectangular one, text is aligned to center correctly.
This is simply a calculation bug which should be fixed now finally - it persists for years already.2 votes -

Outlined text
I'm using InDesign v 16.1 for a Mac. I just encountered an issue with outlining text. As you can see in the "Display in Preview" png, all of the text is visible and matches what I actually see in InDesign. All of this text is outlined by pressing command + O. When you look at the "Display in Acrobat" png, the yellow outlined text appears to be transparent. Again, all of the text in the png files are outlined. This issue is also visible at our print shop. The workaround I found is just to keep the text live,…

InD 19.1 export to IDML extends conditional text
- InDesign 19.1
- Create a doc with several paragraphs of text. Apply a condition to, say, the 2nd paragraph. Export to IDML. Open the exported doc.
- The reopened file should look like the original.
- The condition is now applied to additional paragraph(s). However, if the condition is removed from the paragraph marker, the problem disappears. There was a similar problem about 10 years ago saving docs with conditional text. The conditions would exin the same way. This happened just with normal saving, not exporting.

»Create outlines« of text on a circle path is making weird things
v 17.0.1
Intel Mac
Big SurIf you have a longer text written on a circle path and try to »Create Outlines« it fails at one area: The text gets smaller and is kind of turned around.
This only happens with longer text: Short text seems to work ok.

ID crashes when pasting text
ID becomes very unstable if you copy and paste text from one text box to
another that contains a paragraph style with a nested line format.
If it doesn‘t crash immediately, move around the cursor with the arrow keys and try to paste text again.

find/change text missing search: selection
after making a selection, the Find/Change text dialog sometimes does not offer Selection in the Search dropdown. It will be present under GREP and Object, but not Text and Glyph. Closing/reopening Find/Change does not fix it. Restarting InDesign usually fixes it...until it goes missing again.

Parent Text Frame Offset when Autoflowing Text
When autoflowing text, the parent page text frame is being offset on every new page that's automatically added.
In the attached screenshot, the top page was manually added and text autoflowed into it from the previous page. The parent text frame is positioned as per the top page.
InDesign versions 17 to 19 (2022 to 2024).
Expect parent page text frame to be in the position it is in on the parent page.
Actual result: text frame is offset and has to be repositioned on every page manually.1 vote -

Auto-sizing text frames not working
When I try to auto-size a text box in "Text Frame Options," nothing happens. I generally click on the text box, open the text frame options panel with command-B and click on the auto-size tab. Once inside that panel, I attempt to auto-size. Nothing is grayed out so it appears as if it would work, but when I click on "width only" (or any other option), nothing happens and it just stays on the original selection. And I can't seem to find a work around either.

Text becoming conditional
If I have conditional text in which the condition include the paragraph mark, when I re-open the document, the following paragraph sometimes has the condition applied to it, even though it was unconditional before. This is a repeatable problem.

[ID-4257736]InDesign hangs when placing CJK tagged text with ruby
I'm currently using ID 2024, but I have tested other versions of ID, back to CS6, and they all have the same problem. I'm currently running Windows 11, but the problem also occurs in Windows 10.
Steps:
- Install the Adobe font family, Source Han Sans TW, on your computer.
- Download TaggedText.zip and unzip it
- Open InDesign in the CJK version
- Create a new document with these grid attributes: Direction = Vertical; Font = Source Han Sans TW, Normal; Size = 16 pt; Vertical = Horizontal = 100%; Char Aki = 0 pt; Line Aki = 10 pt; Characters…

Text has Overrides when copy/pasted within the same text frame
This is with regards to InDesign 13.1
As you can see in the screenshot, when I copy a text and put it in the same text frame (same paragraph style) it automatically has an override.
Hovering over the name of the paragraph style does not show the deviation, but right-clicking allows to clear all overrides (which successfully removes them). It is quite annoying to get an override every time I copy text or a text frame.

[ID-4257734]When you place an object with ‘Corner Options’ and ‘Text Wrap (Wrap around object shape)’ on a frame, the text moves.
Checked on Windows 10 Japanese version, InDesign CS5 to CC2024
1.Create a new document
2.Create a frame grid with the Horizontal Grid Tool
3.Insert a few line breaks at the beginning and assign sample text
4.Draw a rectangle with the Rectangle Tool
5.Set the shape in Corner Options to anything other than ‘None’
6.Set the text wrap to ‘Wrap around object shape’
7.When the drawn rectangle is placed on the frame, it is pushed out by one characterIt’s strange that the text moves even though the rectangle is not placed on top of the text.

Can not paste text in inDesign
I am running InDesign CC 13.1 on osMac High Sierra, and am unable to COPY text from any web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and PASTE it into inDesign. It crashes every time. I AM able to paste the text into a Pages document and THEN copy/paste into inDesign — but all character information is gone (formatting, alignment, spacing, etc.)

Switch primary text frame's Text Frame Options for multiple pages
Switch primary text frame's Text Frame Options for multiple pages. See this item on forum: https://forums.adobe.com/message/11180092#11180092. Using 14.0.2 x64. You can't use applying a new Master Page to switch Balance Columns off and on on a Primary Text Frame, though you can use it to change number of columns. Thank you for your attention to this likely bug.

eyedropper tool doesn't work any more and scrollbar disappears in color panel
Since i update MacOS Sierra (10.12.6 version), when i try to copy a text style with the eyedropper tool, it doesn't work. Instead to copy the right style, the text becomes always white.
Other problem: in the color palette, there is no more the scroll bar: haw can i see the colours continue below the end of the window??
And also the indicator of the color type (rgb, cmyk, pantone...) doesn't appear next to the single color.
Other problem: sometimes when i open in design, it doesn't show the palettes. I have to restart several times. I verified the same…4 votes -
Text outside of text frame (top of frame)
Version 21.2
I saw this error in earlier versions of InDesign, but it was later fixed. Now it appears to have returned. I copied text into a text frame and the intelligent text flow created additional pages and frames to fit the text. While scrolling through the document, I noticed that the text in some frames (fewer than 5%) is partially positioned above the top of the frame (see image). To fix this, I open the Text Frame Options, change the vertical justification, and then change it back to the original setting (Top). The frame then fits the text…
