1. InDesign Export PDF - Misisng font style (i.e., italic, bold, tiny text changed)

   Dear InDesign Folks,

   We've found some font style attribute changed in PDF file, another one issue is Ligature text missed out at PDF file.

   Application: InDesign CC 2015.0 Version 11.0.
   Windows: 7 & 10 Pro

   Steps & Process:
   1. We are generating 2 set of PDF with different Job-options.

   1. PAP Layer enabled PDF (i.e., particular layer enabled and creating the PDF, it's contains Images and Text like water mark).

   2. PRINT Layer disabled PDF (i.e., disabled the layer which we enabled in step 2).

   3. Using JavaScript generating 2 sets of PDF at a time.

   4. PRINT, disabled layer and generating PDF with particular InDesign Export Job-options.

   5. PAP, enabled layer and generating PDF with particular InDesign Export Job-options.

   PAP PDF file showing the font style in automatically changed in (Bold or Italic and Size looks tiny).

   PRINT PDF file we didn't face any issues.

   Can anyone suggest how to sort out this issue in forthcoming days.

   Ligature text missing we faced first time this issue, I searched the bug forum, it's already shared the issue.

2. Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 crash when pasting certain string into text box with particular font

   Hi, I’m a type designer and font delveloper (for more than 20 years) and have made a custom font (Latin) that makes extensive use of the Contextual Alternates feature (calt). Let's call the font FontXyz, it’s an OpenType CFF font (.otf).

   These are the steps that always cause InDesign to crash
   1: Text cursor is in an empty text box where my FontXyz is already set
   2: Pasting the string “1234,-”
   3: Crash

   I can prevent the crash by:
   a: Putting my cursor in between two spaces and then pasting the string “1234,-”
   b: Pasting the string without the “-”, thus pasting “1234,”

   The font has passed various validation tests (Fontbakery (even the “check-adobefonts” one), FontGoggles, Font Validator) and works without any issues in other MacOS apps (such as Microsoft Word, Pages, Figma and browsers).

   The crash occurs in Adobe CC InDesign 2024 and 2025
   I'm running MacOS 15.5

3. When I copy and paste from Illustrator CC into InDesign CC, instead of the vector art I get this text.

4. Khmer script justification is broken

   With the CC version, having World-Ready Composer enabled, Khmer script justification is still broken. I tried to use the text with and without ZWSP, and it's all the same. There was a thread talking about it https://forums.adobe.com/message/5030301 but seems no any new update.

   The justification is also broken in Photoshop CC.

5. idml pasteboard

   When exporting file from indd2020 to idml, the pasteboard automatically disappears. Whatever the pasteboard dimensions were before, it becomes 0,0 when converted to idml.

7. paragraph shading where inline table is used

   Indesign all versions:

   I often use pararaph shading to give my text some extra attention. I may also have tables in this text, that require the same shading. But unfortunately, that's not possible with inline tables. When I instead use inline graphics, the shading works as expected.

   Seems like a bug to me!

8. story editor

   Using Indesign 17.2 on x64 PC. Brand-new machine with fresh install.

   To reproduce the issue open the story editor then close it.

   Expected result: The story editor closes and I can resume working in the main document window immediately.

   Actual result: When I close the story editor, the window disappears but all the tools on the toolbar, except the text tool, remain greyed out and I can't do anything in the main document for around 30 seconds.

9. Hyperlinks to text anchors deleted when exporting to PDF and using Adobe World-Ready composers

   The Adobe World-Ready composers break hyperlinks to internal text anchors when the document is exported to PDF.

   Internal document links are composed of a source and a destination. The hyperlinks seem to get dropped when the destination is in a paragraph that uses one of the World-Ready composers.

   The hyperlinks appear to work correctly in the hyperlinks panel within InDesign. It's only once the file is exported to a PDF and opened in a program like Acrobat that this issue becomes apparent. When reviewing the output in Acrobat, the destination no longer appears to be present in the document at all.

   This does not seem to be a problem when Adobe Single-line Composer or Adobe Paragraph Composer are used, but this is not always a realistic solution.

   This is an issue in at least the last 2 major versions of InDesign (19.X and 20.X).

10. Changes are not tracked when you copy and paste text from more than one cell into a table

    1. This exists in all version of InDesign and InCopy.

    2. To reproduce (see corresponding images):

    a) Create a new document with a table filled with text and in InCopy set it to tr.ack changes.

    b.) Copy the contents of at least two cells.

    c.) Paste the contents into different cells.

    d.) Initially these changes will be showed as tracked in story/galley view.

    e.) When the document is saved and the reopened these changes are no longer tracked.

    1. The expected result is that the changes should remain tracked after the document is saved and reopened.

11. [ID-4261145] White Horizontal lines appear on InDesign Document after enabling "Overprint Preview"

    InDesign CC 13.1 x64

    In every document I open, everytime there's a single line in the top area of the document/artboard. It appears when you activate the

    Overprint Preview with high quality. Then InDesign generates a thin white line 1px thick and 101px away from the top of the document. It

    also keeps this position when I zoom in or out. Only if I begin to drag the view via the hand tool then the line is broken (obviously it

    has some trouble to refresh complete).
    The line generates on all pages no matter if there're images or graphics or text in the document on this page.

    I discover this problem on both mac (MacOS Sierra) and pc (Win7 Prof. SP1 64 Bit).

    You can only avoid this error by activate the ruler. Then the line disappears completely.

    This workaround could be ok for me but sometimes I want to review my creation in high quality without the rulers or anything else
    disturbing my view.
    But there's no way to do that. The white line is displayed also in the presantation view.

12. Anomalous character missing glyph in the Story editor – Serious file problems

    I report a bug regarding an InDesign document of an anomalous character that is found in the "Story editor", which has already been reported in older versions of Adobe Indesign.
    (OS version: BigSur 11.3.1)
    (Adobe InDesign version: 16.2)

    As you can see in the examples that I attach, the text presents problems and I believe it is caused (or highlighted) by the missing glyph signs in each line of the "story editor", which does not appear to exist in the text.

    The problem is not solved by making the file idml.
    I tried to fix it by copying the text and placing it in a new InDesign file, the result didn't change.
    Then I tried to paste the text into "Microsoft Word" and after copying it again I brought it to a new InDesign file and, in that case, the problem disappears (unfortunately, however, I cannot do it with the entire text of the book because it is too complex and I'd basically have to start the job all over again). So I think the bug is only referable to certain files.

    I also tried to create a new document by importing all the pages from the old one, but even this operation did not solve the problem.
    In addition to this anomaly, I also noticed that clicking in some places of the text (to insert text or delete it manually) the cursor is positioned more and more to the left of where I click (for example, if I click after the last letter of the word after which I want to insert a text, the cursor is positioned between the penultimate and the last letter of that word, it is very annoying on a long job).

    The same thing happened to my colleague in the department: another document caused many more problems than mine, especially on a certain page, whatever action he performed, the file often slowed down until the program was closed, it was very difficult for him to complete a job that was now in its final phase.

13. Mongolian

    Issue: InDesign does not support Mongolian vertical text direction from left-to-right.

    Version: InDesign 2019, 14.0.2 x64

    Steps:
    1. Place or paste Mongolian text into an InDesign text frame by using the attached Word document
    2. Skew the text frame 90 degrees (as done with vertical Chinese and Japanese).

    Expected result: Please see the attached Word document and screenshot.

    Actual result: Notice that the vertical text direction is right-to-left and not left-to-right. Even if the text frame is skewed in the opposite direction (minus 90 degrees) the text is just mirrored and thus not readable.

    Test files and screenshot: They are attached. If need be you can download the Google Noto font called Noto Sans Mongolian that we used.

14. Indesign 2022 (17.1.0.50) IDLK file does not lock

    This problem was recently flagged as resolved, but despite the newest InDesign and MacOS versions it is still possible for two users to open the same Indesign file. We are working on a network volume over SMB and it is possible for my colleague to open the same file I am working with. The *.idlk file was generated by the first user, but it is not recognized by the second Indesign user and sometimes subsequently just disappears.

    I also tried to reproduce this issue with Indesign 2020 but all worked just as expected.

15. alternate layout - copy text variables (just like styles to new group)

    I had a job that was originally designed to be a PDF online in color. Then at the last minute, the client asked for a B&W version for print (to keep costs down). They still weren't done editing so I made an alternate layout and checked "copy styles to new group", then made all the color adjustments to those styles and the new B&W master pages. However, I had a running header in the original version. Well, the running header on the B&W version picked up the last section head from the color version, making the B&W version incorrect. I fixed it by making a new B&W version of the text variable and replacing it on the master page. It would be nice if, when making an alternate layout, if the text variables could be copied (and name appended) automatically.

16. Imported PDF comments on graphics transferred to text on page

    1. InDesign 19.0
    2. Add Acrobat comments to placed Illustrator graphics in an exported PDF, then import the PDF to PDF Comments in the source InDesign document.
    3. One would expect a warning dialog or just unmapped comments in InDesign.
    4. Instead, InDesign tries to map the comments elsewhere on the page.
    5. Screenshot shows the example I encountered with strikethrough markup. Instead of the % signs in the graphic, InDesign wants me to delete random letters and spaces in the text.

17. Presentation mode does not show latest text

    This has been happening intermittently across the last several versions of indesign:
    When entering presentation mode, I am shown an outdated version of my page. It is as if there is some kind of rendered page view cache that is not being cleared.

18. Graphic Frame Text Wrap in Find/Change Object

    I'm running InDesign 12.0.0.1 (2017) on mac OS 10.12.6 (Sierra). I was originally trying to write a script to automate changing text wrapping on all graphic frames in the active document to wrap to the largest area (TextWrapSideOptions.LARGEST_AREA). When I couldn't get a script that should have worked to function properly, I decided to try automating Find/Change Object queries. That's when I discovered that the manual queries weren't function.     Change the "Wrap Options > Wrap To" setting (TextWrapSideOption) for all graphic frames to "Largest Area" (TextWrapSideOptions.LARGESTAREA). This should really only have to apply to those graphic frames set to "Wrap around bounding box" (TextWrapModes.BOUNDINGBOXTEXTWRAP) and "Wrap to contour" (TextWrapModes.CONTOUR).

    Here's the problem:
    It only works if the graphic frame is set to "Wrap to contour." If the graphic frame is set to "Wrap to bounding box," then it either reports "Cannot find match," or it purports to have found the objects and have changed them, but does not actually change their text wrap modes. I've tried specifying the "Wrap to..." setting in the Find/Change query and many other setting (which are all unnecessary, if the graphic frame is set to "Wrap to contour"), and nothing works.

    I've scoured the internet, and even my not-inconsiderable Google fu has turned up nothing on this problem. I have, however, reproduced it on several machines in my office. For your reference, I've included a set of screenshots from various simple queries and their results. With the help of an expert, here's the script I developed that should have done the trick:

    I'm running InDesign 12.0.0.1 (2017) on mac OS 10.12.6 (Sierra). I was originally trying to write a script to automate changing text wrapping on all graphic frames in the active document to wrap to the largest area (TextWrapSideOptions.LARGEST_AREA). When I couldn't get a script that should have worked to function properly, I decided to try automating Find/Change Object queries. That's when I discovered that the manual queries weren't function.
