  1. Speed up cross references

    Opening the cross reference panel can be painfully slow. This has been an issue since at least InDesign CC, but maybe now is another chance to fix this.

    Behaviour is triggered by size of document and/or number of cross references. E.g. I'm working on a ~200+ pages document with about 150 cross references – both of which isn’t that extreme – and opening the panel takes around 4 minutes (yes, minutes). Interestingly enough, if the panel once opens and I change "Link to" from "paragraph style" to "text anchor", next time the panel opens instantly. Change it back to…

  2. The new Text Wrap is missing all the adjustment options

    There are no adjustment options available in the 2024 version of Indesign. There are only preset options that can't be adjusted up or down in size or amount of wrapping.

  3. character styles in Table of Contents

    Not sure if this is a bug or a feature.

    It is a best practice, if you use running headers, to apply a character style to a selected subset of a heading, for example, HeadText1 for a first-level heading, and HeadText2 for a second-level heading, so that the header just shows basically a short title for the heading. You define the header to contain two text variables, first Heading1 that picks up, for example, the first instance of the text marked with HeadText1, and Heading2 that picks up the last instance of HeadText

  4. Shortcuts and keyboard keys stop working.

    CC2018, Windows 10, latest update as of 01/18/18, x64 system with 12GB RAM. I often have to close and reopen documents or InDesign itself for shortcuts and some keys to work. There does not seem to be a common cause or specific file(s) that sets it off and it may or may not happen to all open documents if more than one is open. Generally closing the document and reopening it helps, but there have been times where I have to restart the program for anything to work. The issue includes any shortcuts and sometimes keys such as the arrow…

  6. mapping styles

    After assigning a Class in the Para or Character Style definition dialog (in Export Tagging), the Class usually disappears. So when I go to Edit All Export Tags accessed from a flyout in the paragraph, character, or object styles panel, I have to reassign that Class.

  7. Adobe Fonts wont load

    Hello,

    While creating a document I was trying to discover a new font. I clicked Fonts > Find More and where a list of adobe fonts usually pops up, I got nothing. I tried creating a new text box, signing in and out of adobe, and closing / opening the document.

    Attached please find a screen grab of the issue.

    I'd love an assist if possible.

  9. Find text plays an error sound when I press Return, even though it finds the text

    I have been working with indesign for a few months and already sent in about 10 bug reports. I feel like everytime I open the program I find a new issue. My colleagues say I have a knack for crashing programs or finding issues. I have a very similar problem with PS. I'm really frustrated with the UI and I can't imagine I'm the only one. I know this is a long shot, but feel free to contact me if you need a bug-spotter, because it feels like I found a lot already. And I have more issues that probably…

  11. Can't delete InDesign color swatch

    Documents inherit a swatch from a picked-up file and the swatch can not be deleted.

    1) This problem has existed for us since at least InDesign CS4 and persists through the current CC 2018 build (13.1).

    2) In the attached file, "Select All Unused" in the Swatches panel. There is no content at all in the file. All objects have been deleted, as have all text and object styles. Try to delete the unused process color swatch, "C=80 M=76 Y=70 K=73."

    3) We expect the unused swatch to be deleted.

    4) Trash can icon in Swatches panel is grayed out…

  12. Incorrect reading order for anchored objects

    InDesign is placing text and objects in the incorrect reading order when exporting to accessible PDF when an anchored object is anywhere but at the bottom of the page. Instead of placing the anchored object/group of objects in the correct order, it is placing them at the end of the reading order. An example would be an anchored group of a placed Illustrator graph and it's title text box.

  13. enableRedraw = false ignored during script run

    During a loop to load text snippets to my page ID 2020 ignores the fact that enableRedraw=false and DOES redraw the page on every loop

    app.scriptPreferences.enableRedraw = false;

        do {
            app.doScript(insertTexts2, ScriptLanguage.JAVASCRIPT, undefined, UndoModes.ENTIRE_SCRIPT, "Insert Texts " + C2Place + ":" + V2Place);
        } while (libs[8][3].geometricBounds[0] < pageTextBottom);
        app.scriptPreferences.enableRedraw = true;

    The text is inserted into 8 different frames -- during the loop it SHOULDN'T redraw the page -- but it does (slowing the script down)

  15. [ID-4260994]The filter in the review panel is automatically changing to "resolved"

    This happens very frequently.

    I will be going through user comments given online in the Indesign Review tab. As I do them I resolve them. This works fine.

    But then suddenly and randomly it will just decide to change my filter to show all resolved! Then all the old issues magically appear in the tab again until I go back to filter and unselect the Resolved button.

    Then it happens again. And again. It happens only when I go to change something in the document but it doesn't seem to matter what type of issue i'm doing. Replacing text.…

  16. Bug in Adobe World-Ready Composer for Kannada Language

    Attached are Adobe Indesign document, Scribus (v1.5.3) document, PDF outputs.

    Thanks for reporting this issue.
    We have verified this issue and forwarded this issue to our Indic languages expert team for investigation.

    Once investigation is complete, We will definitely update this post.

  17. Map styles to tags forces image alignment to the left

    Consider: an image frame is set inline with paragraph text in a text frame. The image is wider than the width of the text frame, and RIGHT ALIGNED, so that it extends out towards the left of the text frame. When you map styles to tags, the image frame is forced to look left-aligned so that the tag is housed in the text frame. This makes the image now extend TO THE RIGHT of the text frame. PLEASE FIX!!!

  18. Variable fonts are clipped during instancing

    When exporting a document containing a variable font to a PDF, larger styles are clipped in some environments, and by some printers.

    Version: Adobe InDesign 21.2 v64
    Operating system: Windows 11 Pro 25H2
    Example PDF environment: Canon iR-ADV C5860 printer, UFRII_v10.19.21 driver

    Reproducing:
    1. Create an empty document
    2. Select a variable font (e.g. the OFL Noto Sans VF, https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans)
    3. Select a heavier or wider style than the default (clipping.indd)
    4. Export to PDF, with default settings (clipping.pdf)

    Expected: Text is as seen prior to exporting (expected.png)
    Actual: Text is clipped and illegible in some environments (simulated in…

    Font errors of Southeast Asian languages such as Myanmar (Burmese) Unicode

    1.     Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server : InDesign CC 2020 15.0.3 / 15.1.1 (Korean)

    2.     Steps to reproduce the issues : Text deformation, image mislocation, text warp errors occurred when Myanmar (Burmese) Unicode text is used in InDesign CC 2020 version. Some of these errors samely appear in Khmer, Lao and Thai as well. I've tried 'World-Ready Composer' function, 'setting-up the language', changing to language font', but none of them worked.
