Color theme tool pop-up window unable to be closed
I'm running Adobe Indesign 14.0.1
To recreate, select the color theme tool and click anywhere on a placed image, a small horizontal color theme menu pops up with five swatches and a few other buttons to the right of the swatches, and then never goes away. Ever. There is no option to hide or close the window and while I appreciate having a palette to pick from on my screen, I went with my own palette for this project and the color theme tool was unnecessary. There needs to be some way to hide or close this small window that…

variable barcodes not centered in frame and not always appearing in print files
Recently upgraded to InDesign CC 14.0.1 x64, HP SmartStream Designer 14.0.6, and Tech It Barcode Studio 15.11.1.23277.
Existing variable barcodes in InDesign documents are now not centered left to right in their frame.
Sometimes they are not appearing in the JLT print files created using SSD. They do appear in PDF print files created in SSD.

pasteboard changes size when pasting things
InDesign CC 14.0.1 x64
Pasting things sometimes changes the size of the pasteboard drastically. Pasteboard margins could be set at 10 in and 10 in and they change to a few inches horizontally and less than an inch vertically. We keep things on the pasteboard. This causes us to fix the pasteboard size many times throughout the day in multiple documents. Over and over again.

Table of contents and variables weird behaviour
When some of my titles have Variables in the TOC (variables that I have created) they appear in the TOC incorrectly. My Variable here is a dash date i.e. 2019-2020. At first I used "–" rather than "-" but both ended up with the same result. I've uploaded all screenshots to demonstrate what I'm talking about: The variable with the longer dash, the variable in the heading and the TOC that relates to it. Notice that some TOC's are affected, but not others, so I'm at a loss.

Export PDF causes unresponsiveness when clicking "same as Document Name" box and changing the filename manually
InDesign freezes and becomes unresponsive when...
Using the latest version of InDesign 14.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and exporting a press ready PDF (setting modified to include bleed and crop marks), checking "Using InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename" and then adding some text or changing the filename manually in the save dialog, InDesign freezes afterwards. The PDF is exported successfully, but the program locks up.
When not checking the box and exporting a PDF there are no problems.

Read only randomly occurs when saving
InDesign CC randomly goes into read only mode when we go to File>Save. Our only option at that point is to go to Save As and rename the file. This is clunky, scary, and should not be happening. We have new iMacs with Mojave OS.

table header image not showing PDF
https://indd.adobe.com/view/029f4fe9-1108-4554-ba34-c8e4c510750c
Use the link to see the document all correct however when exporting to PDF the images in the header for pages 2 & 3 disappear. You can test this using the link or by using the attached file. Both get the same result. But looks perfect in inDesign.2 votes -

Paragraph style naming field typed text overwrites itself
- Double click style name
- Attempt to rename style
- Text field appears limited to 1-3 characters.
- As text is entered into the field, each character deletes and replaces the previous (ie overtype mode).
This occurs only randomly and only inside of InDesign. My keyboard or OS settings can be ruled out as a cause.

Indesign CS5 Extended crashes while launching
I hope someone can help me here, as I couldn't find a solution in other threads. I run CS on Mac OS X 10.9.5. All other programs run fine, except InDesign.
All help is much appreciated!

direct selection tool only activates with "v" key
When text tool is active, direct selection tool can't be selected with mouse pointer. It looks like it's active but text tool is still active. Must type "v" to activate the direct selection tool.

Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF
When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).

Bad optical kerning for superscript "4"
When a superscript "4" follows a closing smart quotation mark, optical kerning is set to -60 or -70 depending on font. This is too close (basically a crash).
This is annoying for books with lots of endnotes, where superscript numbers usually follow quotation marks.

Crash on deleting duplicated XML tag
Indesign CC 2019 (Version 14.0.1)
Mac OS Mojave on Mac mini (Late 2014)Hello, I have a document ready to import XML data, with existing XML structure and tagged elements in page.
Afterwards I import XML data into XML structure and then duplicate (copy and paste) text frame that contains a table with an image placed into a cell table.
If I try to delete resulting duplicated XML tag, application crashes.
Same result if I duplicate (copy and paste) XML tag directly. These are the steps:
1) Open document with prepared XML structure and tagged elements in page.
2) Import…-

Images with transperencies and placed in formular fields are separeted wrong when exported as PDF.
PNGs and PSDs with transparency and directly imported in an InDesign formular field are separeted wrong when exported as a PDF and separeted to cmyk. The images are too dark with a green tone.
This happens in the last InDesign versions til the last CC2019 (14.01).
Mac OS 10.14.3 and also in El Capitan1 vote -
Keyboard shortcuts don't work if only one file is open.
When I have just one file open in Indesign, the keyboard shortcuts don't work. Open another file, they start working again. Or, wait long enough, then they start working with just one file open. All keyboard shortcuts, not just some.
