  1. Hide Frame Edges

I'm working on Windows 11. I'm not sure what the InDesign version is but I just bought it two days ago.

Everything has been smooth so far but when I needed to hide the Frame Edges I met this issue. From what I found out there are two options: View > Extras > Hide Frame Edges or simply Ctrl + H

    Neither case worked.

  2. Hebrew Font Issue in inDesign 2024

I'm having an Issue with inDesign 2024, every single release of this version.
The issue is a font that I have, squeezing together some letters, this issue doesn't appear in inDesign 2023, as a result I i'm stuck in that version:
Here's an example of it the first image shows the 2024 version and the second one the 2023

  3. Adobe Fonts messes with installed/added fonts

    Indesign 2022 and 2024, Windows 10.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. With "Adobe Fonts" not activated in the Cloud client, add fonts to Indesign's \Fonts folder and start. Good example font: Roboto. The is a truetype font from Google.
    2. Use any of the added fonts in a document and save. Close the document
    3. Activate Adobe Fonts in the cloud client and restart Indesign. In case any of the added fonts is also available on Adobe Fonts, they're overridden by the cloud font, as the symbol in the font list (Type menu), next to the font, changes once you open…

  4. style from word not recognised

When I, in a word document linked to Indesign add a style which begins with the name of anther style, followed by a comma (no space) and more text, InDesign does not recognise that this is a new style but instead treats it (and calls it) by the other (shorter) style name. Workaround is to e.g. use an underscore instead, but it took me quite a while that is was this issue that caused the strange indesign behaviour.

  5. Bug texto oculto

  6. Publish Online: if forbidden character in the document name, the name has to be filled in again

To me it’s okay that “special characters” are not allowed in the title of a "publish Online" document.

But if a user gets this message, his/her title is completely deleted and he/she has to fill out the title again. Although there’s maybe only one forbidden character in it.

Annoying. Any chance to change this?

  8. Page navigation information built incorrectly in epubs exported from books (.indb files)

In InDesign 19.4 x64, when an epub export is created for a book (.indb file), page navigation links restart at page 1 for every document (.indd file). The toc.xhtml file looks okay despite this, but in the document xhtml files, the software is treating duplicates as non-unique and appending a sequence number to them. As a result, many of the links in the toc.xhtml file are broken. I've attached a text file showing portions of the relevant xhtml files illustrating this problem.

This is a major issue, because some epub distributors catch the error in validation and prevent the book…

  9. Is this a text wrap problem or something else??

I use InDesign 2022. My Text wrap is set to 'none'.

When I open a new text box it’s automatically applying a 1" a white space top and bottom that is the width of the text box. Also a 1/4" white space to each side of the box, that is the height of the text box. These 'white panels' (I hesitate to call them text wraps) blank out other text boxes and photos, but sometimes the text from the underlying text box shows through. Bringing the photo to the front can help where a photo is concerned.

    This is especially…

  10. Version 19.4 - InDesign mangles keywords so that they are not searchable

Placement of a valid keyword searchable PDF or EPS file into InDesign and subsequent export to PDF leads to mangling of original words with the addition of one letter from another word.

  11. html footnote

I have the problem that the export of HTML from InDesign CC24 spits out a completely different structure for the footnotes, now the footnotes are a ordered list, even if the lists are output in text during export.
Please find attached screenshots of CC23 and CC24.

  12. program freezes after Save As

InDesign v.19.4 freezes after Save As is used. The program is inaccessible and has to be force quit and restarted. It will reopen the document when it starts up again with no data lost. An annoyance, but at least no work is forfeited.

  13. Multi-level lists

    1. VERSION: 19.4

    2. ISSUE: If you create a multi-level list (1, 1.1, 1.2.3, etc) and export as an accessible PDF the list structure is not correct and presents the incorrect "List level" to the reader when using any assistive technology.

EXPECTED RESULTS: When a new level of a list is created the sublist's <L> goes INSIDE the <LBody> tag to properly indicate the list is sublevel.

ACTUAL RESULTS: In the most recent build of InDesign, the <L> is just a sibling of the <LBody>. This is not only incorrect an a violation of PDF/UA-1, it also requires fixing EVERY TIME you…

  14. Files won't open

Trying to open some files from File Explorer or within InDesign: Adobe Creative Cloud message states: "InDesign could not open "[file name]" because it has been created in a newer version - Adobe InDesign 19.4. You can convert and open this file but you may lose out on content created using the features specifgic to the latest versions. For the best experience, we recommend updating InDesign to the latest version." I am always updated since I use the auto-update feature for all products. If I attempt to use the "Update" link provided I get this message: "You're up to date!".…

  15. Issues with Color Picker in InDesign: HSB and RGB Confusion Leading to Unexpected Colors

When I open the color picker to adjust a shade, I usually automatically do so in HSB, since I usually want a lighter or darker shade of what I'm working on. But if I don't actually click on the radial buttons for the HSB value I'm working on, InDesign will give me some wild colors! It seems to be confusing HSB and RGB somehow--but I don't know why or how, since I'm editing in the HSB boxes.

If I'm using an HSB Swatch and open the color picker to get a different shade, the "original" color box shows something completely…

  16. TOC Paragraph Styles not Applying Properly

I'm using InDesign version 19.4. I am trying to generate a TOC for my document. I have ensured that all my paragraph and character styles are appropriately titled and applied throughout my document.

When I produce my TOC, the entire thing is capitalized, despite the paragraph style having "normal" case set. When I highlight the auto-generated TOC, it is indicating that the correct paragraph style is applied, however, it is not reflecting it.

If I click around to my different paragraph styles, it alters the font size, color, etc. but everything remains capitalized, despite none of the styles having that…

  17. Lower Case with Caps Lock and Shift

In my new install, InDesign24, pressing shift while using caps lock doesn't make the text lower case, despite this working in other programs. Is there a preference or setting in InDesign I'm not aware is clicked to make this function as before?

  18. Image Path Data Merge Is Ignored

InDesign 19.4 for Mac (Sonoma 14.5)

After the latest update, the data merge is not longer working properly for image files. While, in some cases, the paths to the images is correctly resolved and the images are embedded, the same data file that has worked earlier this year now creates an issue, so that images are not shown after data merge.

Instead of using the path given in the data file, InDesign now searches for the images in the folder where the data file is, ignoring the path name in the data file.

Moving the images into this folder works…
