1. Incorporate the feature for hyperlinks and buttons to open the clicked url in a new browser window.

   Please can you incorporate the feature for hyperlinks and buttons to have the option to open the clicked url in a new browser window. I feel this is something that would be farely easy for a developer to introduce as a feature, that would greatly benefit alot of Designers that use Adobe InDesign to publish interactive pdfs online.

2. It'd be so much more efficient to be able to put in a default value in editable form text fields in InDesign vs Acrobat.

   I work on a creative team building editable form fields in InDesign for interactive pdf export. It'd be so much more efficient to be able to put in a DEFAULT VALUE OPTION with the correct InDesign formatting in editable form text fields in InDesign vs the limited option in Acrobat.

3. Persistent Book Panel

   I use Book files often (INDB) and it is very annoying the way the Book Panel disappears from the UI when I close all open INDD files. I have to go to the Window menu and then to the bottom and choose my open Book file to get the Book Panel back. Please could you make the Book Panel persistent in the UI and remember the place that I docked it. That would save me time.

4. InDesign Share for Review

   Would like to have the ability to notify (email) members/people whenever a link has been updated. Currently, without notifications sent, we can go hours before a client looks at revisions because they didn't realize the change was made.

5. InDesign to accept TeX / LaTeX inputs

   Like InDesign is accepting Quark inputs till some version (say version 4.0), I'm expecting such feature to accept TeX / LaTeX input too as many of Authors are still using TeX / LaTeX as inputs and the same need to typeset using TeX / LaTeX software.

   If InDesign is accepting these inputs, we can directly include in InDesign and proceed the further typesetting process.

   One difficulty is usually TeX / LaTeX inputs will have much mathematical equations.

6. Integrate Macbook Pro Touchbar with InDesign

   Hi!

   I love Adobe InDesign and use it everyday for work. I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro with a touchbar. Photoshop and Illustrator both support the customized touchbar feature and it is super efficient and awesome to have many tools right there on the touchbar.

   As someone who uses InDesign more than the above mentioned adobe programs, I would LOVE to be able to use the touchbar feature in InDesign as well!

7. share for review track changes

   If you add a "track changes" option in the share for review function, it will be super! Now my clients mark things to be changed (mostly textual corrections) and when i've marked them as done, the marking is gone, so the client can't verify that the changes are made the way they wanted.

8. Would like a feature that would set type flush left to the longest centered line

   I often need to set poetry extracts in books so that they are flush left to the longest centered line in the extract—see attached examples. 


   The workarounds a cumbersome and/or time consuming. 

   
It would be great if there was a setting to do this automatically.

9. Display line number for each line in InDesign document

   @Adobe: Please include the new option to display the line numbers for each line in InDesign document and also inlude the option to show the InDesign line number in output PDF.

   Currently we are spending more time to add the line number in InDesign and PDF. Please include this feature in upcoming release.

   I've attached the required output sample for your reference.

11. Better collaboration between InDesign and Lightroom

    For creating photo-books, magazines, or any piece of work which includes photographs, much better collaboration between InDesign and Lightroom should be possible. The ability to view Lightroom collections from inside InDesign, drag and drop into ID, and have those pictures refresh themselves automatically (if they are further edited in LR). I know this could be complex from an export perspective, but the LR book plugin (however basic it is) manages it.

12. Custom numbered footnotes

    One feature is really missing from the beginning - and this a free style numbering (endnotes and footnotes as well).

    So many times we get the Asterisk (*) as start, followed by numbered footnotes (1, 2, 3, 4, …). So it would be helpful to define something like this: *, # (<-- which means, first Asterisk and numbered from up there, etc.) Or *, o, # etc.

    Example for placed footnote text:

    • Temp o Temp 1 Temp 2 Temp 3 Temp . . .

    It could be implemented in the footnote area of the text container (Command/STRG B) and into the global options for document footnotes.

13. Hyperlink copy and paste

    Hyperlinks: It would be nice to be able to copy and paste hyperlinks. If you try to copy and paste a text box with a hyperlink or the link itself to another document, the link does not copy. You have manually recreate it.
    Styles for hyperlinks do not copy either. The style copies over, but the hyperlink style reverts to the default.
    Same results if you put the text box with the hyperlink in a library file.
    This is very tedious when you have hyperlinks in hundreds of documents to update.

15. Running Headers to pull from previous page

    Add the ability for a paragraph/character style to pull from previous page. Currently only given first on page and last on page. Need more options. example: chapter 1title is on page 1 and text crosses onto page 2. At the end of page 2 is the next chapter title, but need to be able to put the previous chapter header on page 2 as a running header.

16. 字取り機能の改善リクエスト (improvement to "jidori" feature request)

    日本語版独自の「字取り」機能で設定できるのは「文字数」に限られているため、不便な場面が多いです。
    文字数以外の設定はテキストフレーム/フレームグリッドに関わらずフレームグリッド設定に依存します。これを知らずに「字取り」を使いこなせていないユーザーも多いです。

    添付画像 1 に示したのは、私が不便だと感じたケースの全てです。そして（ ）の中には私の仕事での主な使い道です。
    本文とはサイズの異なる文字（見出し段落に字取りを用いる場合が多い）
    字間の広げられたフレームでの挙動（おまけ）
    ストーリー内に配置された、文字サイズの異なる表（一般に表の文字サイズは本文より小さい場合が多い）

    私はこれらの問題を、アンカー付きオブジェクトを挿入、
    あるいは「字取り」を用いずに、
    ホワイトスペースを挿入、トラッキングで調節、文字前後のアキ設定
    などで代用しています。
    つまり、とても不便なのです。

    今回、代案を考えてみました。なかなかの時間をかけました。
    皆さんの賛同が欲しいです。

    従来のグラフィカルなコントロールを廃止し、フライアウトメニューに格納することで、より詳細な設定を可能にすることを提案します。

    jidori feature improvement request

    The "Jidori" function unique to the Japanese version can only be set to "character count," which is inconvenient in many situations.
    Settings other than the number of characters depend on the frame grid settings regardless of the text frame/frame grid. Many users are unaware of this and are not able to use the "Jidori" function well.

    Attached image 1 shows all the cases I found inconvenient. And in parentheses ( ) are the main usages in my work.
    -Characters of different size from the main text (in many cases, the character spacing is used for heading paragraphs)
    -Behavior in frames with extended character spacing (an added bonus)
    -Tables of different font sizes placed within a story (in general, the font size of tables is often smaller than the body text)

    I have solved these problems by inserting anchored objects,
    or without using "Jidori",
    I have used whitespace, tracking adjustments, and tracking/leading aki.
    In other words, it is very inconvenient.

    This time, I tried to come up with an alternative. It took me quite a long time.
    I would like VOTE.

    Attached image 2 is a screenshot of the text panel.
    I propose to do away with the traditional graphical controls and store them in a fly-out menu.
    This should be handled in the same way as "TateChuYoko", "WariChu", or "Underline" and "Strikeout".

    Attached image 3 shows an idea for a settings dialog.
    First, a checkbox at the top, similar to the other functions.
    This will turn on/off the "Jidori".
    Next, radio buttons for
    1 3 elements (Font size, number of characters, and character spacing),
    2 Directly set the characters width (or height for vertical formatting).
    Choose one of the above.

    How do you like it?

    The only slight drawback is that it is not compatible with lower versions of the application at all.
    But isn't it nice?

17. Add a "View" option "a spread as single pages"

    My idea is to create an option in the VIEW panel, to see your spread as single pages, where they are broken apart and still on the left or right, but separated... Here's why...

    Amazon is becoming one of the largest online stores around. Their "create space" content uploader is requiring an interior bleed on your books. So if anyone wants to create a facing page spread in indesign, they will need to separate the pages into single pages so that they can work on making sure the graphics cover the bleed area as well as export properly since both pages will be over the center... and if they are exported that way even if they are exported into single pages, the graphic on the front layer wins and gets on both pages, since there's a bleed on both pages.

    To do what I need to do now.. I have to click on every spread... then turn off the ability of the spread to shuffle, then separate each right page of the spread out individually. My book is only 24 pages, so that's 12 times.. but this could be soooo much easier if there was just a "view spread as single pages" option.

18. PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button

    PLEASE!! Remove "Synchronize styles accross book" button or at least add a "are you sure" confirm button.
    This is an irreversible action which can mess all documents within a book without the option to undo it.... AND IS NEXT TO "SAVE BOOK" BUTTON.
    You are just one pixel away from destroying your project instead of saving it!

19. Real table footnotes (different from CC2019)

    Since CC2019 the user is able to add footnotes inside a table. Such notes are added at the bottom, of the textbox. This behavior does not fit to many needs of designer how need real table footnotes.

    So what is the difference?
    Real table footnotes stick to the content of the table.
    In this case the note gives some additional information to the table specific content.
    Therefore each table should have an own mechanism of numbering that does not mix up with the document footnotes numbering. Additionally the position of table footnotes is most often at the end of the table.

    This usecase for table footnote is more often used by me an other InDesign users, then the implemented way.
    Attached one example.

20. Uncheck Shared Hyperlink Destination by default

    In the panel 'New Hyperlink' the box 'Shared Hyperlink Destination' is by default checked. I always (must) uncheck it. Two questions: can I reset these default-settings somewhere. (I think not - but I'll like to do that). There is no possibility to put this check on/off under a shortcut. That should be nice for automation-purpose.
