Same functionality for artboard import that Object Layer Styles has.
I use the Object Layer Styles feature (importing PSD and Ai files) very frequently, and it has saved so much time of not having to reimport a file over and over just to turn a different layer on.. However, if I want to show different artboards instead of different layers from a file, I have to reimport the file.

Eyedropper Tool and locked layers on top, theme tool
Hey, here is an idea; I have a layer with a photo and i have a layer with text on top. I lock the textlayer and select the eyedropper tool. I click on the photo and the colour is picked. Just like in illustrator...Wishfull thinking?
Here is another golden idea:
I have a photo of an interior, mostly brown- somewhat green and overal grey, but there is an amazing pop of yellow because there is one small flower on a painting.
I select the Colour Theme Tool, I zoom in on the flower, and click on it.

Option to search child folders when using Relink to Folder
Have a checkbox that tells indesign to also search child folders when using the "Relink to Folder" feature. To keep it from searching too far, you could also include a box to specify how many "layers" down to check.

pop-up change page of a linked pdf/indd file
please add simple pop-up option (like object layers) to change the showing page of a link (which is either pdf or indesign file). when my link is for example a pdf containing multiple pages, it's unnecessarily complicated to change the showing page to some another.
so please – right click > pop-up window > change page of link6 votes -
Variable Spot Colors from Illustrator Definable in InDesign
The ability to create a vector graphic in Illustrator, fill it with a variable spot color swatch (ie "Variable Color 1/2/3" etc.) and then when that spot color is imported into InDesign you can define it to match your project. Ideally on a per-instance basis, but even just editing the color globally from the swatches panel would be a big help. It would save hiving to make multiple versions of a graphic for each color you need - and that you may never need again.
For now my workaround is to make a layered PDF from Illustrator with a layer…

Create a new document based on selected pages of an existing indesign document.
I would like to be able to select pages within an existing InDesign document and create a new document using those pages, much like you can with layers in photoshop.
In photoshop when you select 'duplicate layer(s)' you have the option of duplicating them into different documents, including a new one. When I am designing a business card for a client, for example, I present multiple options. I will make all of the options in one document as separate pages. When they choose one I would like to be able to select the specific pages and duplicate them straight to…

Folder coloring in styles (paragraph, character, table)
It would be nice if InDesign had the ability to colorize paragraph, table, character style folders like Photoshop has in layers.

Select (Menu)
Selection Methods:
Select Menu like Illustrator and Selection Commands are required for Objects, Text, and Images (Raster)
Select All Object, Text, and Images in the Document, Spread, or on the Page
to move them on other Layers easily.Other options (like Illustrator's Select Menu) should be added in this Menu.

Allow the 'import options' dialog window to be scaled up
When re-linking or placing a layered file it would be useful if the relevant dialog window can be scaled up. This would make it easier to select which layers are imported, especially when importing artwork that has a large number of layers (e.g. an Illustrator file). At the moment a lot of scrolling is needed especially if each layer needs to be imported into InDesign individually. Would be useful for workflow to be able to scale up the dialog window to see all layers at one time, and then select/de-select layers them from there.

export vectorized multi layered pdf option from indesign and other CC app
Actually you can export vectorized pdf in pdf 4 version using transparent infos to help the automatic vectorization but, you cant have it with separate layers.
Some pro printers dont want editable texts on pdf we send to them, but there is no simple way to do it.

Color-code paragraph styles
I'm working on a huge training book with dozens of styles. I've stashed them in style groups, but it is still a chore, even inside a group, to scroll, scroll, scroll to try to find the style I need -- and it is also a chore to switch among the style groups themselves -- as many of the styles are used on every page due to the nature of the material. It would be SO VERY HELPFUL if one could color-code paragraph styles (a la the Layers palette) so that when there are this many styles, the ones a person…

Object Layer Options to be part of Object Styles
Allow Object Layer Options to be included as an attribute for Object Styles.
Example: I have an annual report for a group of charities under one umbrella organization. It lists various projects the charities are working on. Some projects are operated by only one charity, some two, some all three. I have an Illustrator file with a graphic for each charity. I use Object Layer Styles to show or hide the symbols for each charity. I must use Object Layer Options for each use of this graphic to indicate which charity(s) are operating each project. It can be very time…

Multiple viewports for the same document.
I'd like to have multiple (at least dual) views for the same InDesign document. I'm editing master pages (1 of 6 layers, guides on) and I would like to see the modifications on the normal pages (all layers on, guides off.
This might also come in handy when editing indexes or table of contents. Anyway, I can give lots of examples why multiple viewports might be ideal.

Restrict 'Remove All Local Overrides' to Selected Layer Only
Often, when 'Remove Selected Local Overrides' isn't possible, selecting 'Remove All Local Overrides' will replace parent page text boxes, thereby deleting any content you may have (and may have spent a lot of time working on). Restricting removing all local overrides to a selected or unlocked layer would allow all other content on other layers to be protected.
ps Reapplying a parent page as a workaround has the same effect – parent page text boxes are replaced.
