Multi-page PDF use in InDesign
When placing a multi-page PDF into an InDesign document - it would save so much time if it were possible to then scroll through the pages in that PDF and select the desired page from within InDesign.
3 votesThis feature already exists. As mentioned by David and Bastia, you can turn on the “Show Import Options” from the Place dialog. Following which a dialog which can help you chose the page that you want and how many of the pages you want to place in InDesign.

PDF export profiles shall store all settings
Until now, coming from CS2, Indesign was not able to store the security settings in a PDF export profile. Every time when exporting a PDF I have to set these settings manually, plus the password. I know I could do that in Acrobat with an action, but that's only worth doing when exporting more than two files at once. The same PDF profiles could also be used by Distiller when converting EPS to PDF by drag 'n drop, so the target PDF would always be password protected. I call this automation.

Improve InDesign Accessibility Export to PDF
ARTICLES AND LAYERS
When the logical reading order is set in Articles, it would save time if Layers could replicate the same order, whether it’s automated or if there was a way to select “Use Articles reading order for Layers.”TABLE STRUCTURE
Set header scope for both columns and rows in cell properties in InDesign.Simplified complex table structure.
FOOTNOTES
Set the hyperlink and correct tags when footnotes are referenced in tables.More layout flexibility would also be helpful.
ALT TEXT
Adding Alt text to hyperlinksPATHS
Paths not included in Articles should remain artifacts. If that’s not an option,…45 votes -
Add ability to export PDF as imposed spreads
It would be SO helpful to be able to export a PDF of a print layout as imposed spreads... the software already knows how to impose spreads in the Print Booklet feature, but if users could also export PDFs this way it would save a lot of time. I don't need to impose spreads often, but when I do it's a real time suck.

Import formatting from PDF comments
InDesign should apply what ever it recives from the PDF. The formating options for the comments are pretty limited – Bold, Italic, Underline, ...
If I accept a comment that has italic characters, the formatted text would be [italic].
If I accept a comment that has bold characters, the formatted text would be [bold].
If I accept a comment that has bold italic characters, the formatted text would be [bold italic].
If I am using a font that does not have an Italic weight (Maybe it uses Regualre Italic), the text would just recive the standart missing font warning…

Interactive/Button and Forms/PDF Options - Add Text Field option for flush left, centered or flush right
Text Fields are all flush left. Add an option to make them flush left, centered or flush right. I create interactive PDFs. Every time I export to a PDF, I open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro and have to manually change Prepare Form/Text Field Properties/Options/Alignment to the desired alignment to "centered" or "flush right" since the default is "flush left." This option would be a great time saver and save on my frustration.

Option to open file path after PDF export
Could the PDF export dialog box have an option alonside 'View PDF after exporting' for something like, 'View file in finder after export', so that I can really quickly send the file in an email.
Or even 'Send file after export' so that I can super quickly flick the file off to our account managers?

The option to remember PDF export settings on a document by document basis
Currently InDesign remembers the PDF export settings across the program which is good but we have to export either print or interactive based on the file. It would be really useful to have the document itself remember the settings so we don't have to keep changing back - often forgetting and sending clients print PDFs where they should be interactive.

"Create Outlines" should automatically "convert bullets and numbering to text" first.
Currently you have to remember to select "Convert bullets and numbering to text" before you also select "Create Outlines." This should not be a two part process as there would never be a time when a designer would suddenly want the bullets and numbers to disappear when making outlined text for a printer.

Export Joboptions with and next to PDF / Apply Joboptions from any Location during PDF Export
Don’t know if this has been suggested before:
1) I would like to have the specific export settings (a.k.a. joboptions) exported to the same location as the PDF, e.g. per checkbox “Export joboptions”.
2) If we could apply joboptions from anywhere on the fly (like via a “Load temporary joboptions” at the bottom of the PDF Export presets list, anyone who gets hold of my file could repeat my export in exactly the same way.

Hidden delete option in "PDF comments"
In the newest update the trash icon disappeared from the "PDF comments" window. Could you please bring it back? Now it's located under three dots, which means I have to click more times to delete the comment. I don't want to use "accept" option because it's better for me to clear the list so I use "delete" instead of "accept". It's important when time matters and I have to make for example 60 changes from PDf comments.
Thank you

pop-up change page of a linked pdf/indd file
please add simple pop-up option (like object layers) to change the showing page of a link (which is either pdf or indesign file). when my link is for example a pdf containing multiple pages, it's unnecessarily complicated to change the showing page to some another.
so please – right click > pop-up window > change page of link6 votes -

InCopy - Export to PDF - option for hyperlinks
An option to include hyperlinks in InCopy's Export/Adobe PDF function would:
- Help editors in proofing rounds with authors
- Free up designers from having to export hyperlinked PDFs for author proofs from InDesign.
My editors work in InCopy and export PDF proofs for our authors to proof. Unfortunately, since the hyperlinks don't export, authors can't check them for accuracy.
Worse yet, Acrobat tries to make the links work but URLS split between lines result in broken links, giving Authors the impression the hyperlinks are there but incorrect. Having the hyperlinks actually export from InCopy will help our authors more accurately…

Add interactive feature back to buttons when converting to PDF
It used to be that buttons were able to be interactive when exporting an InDesign design to PDF, which was especially essential when prompting readers to turn to the "next" or "previous" page. Why does it default to making them a) invisible and b) not interactive? The functionality is still there for hyperlinks, but only after you select them to be, which is also a contradictory default. If I add a hyperlink, clearly I want someone to click on it. Seems like we went back a step in functionality after the latest upgrade.

Convert Page Guides to Spread Guides
I would like to suggest a small but highly useful improvement for a future update of InDesign.
Currently, when guides are placed within a single page, there is no built-in way to convert them into spread guides (guides that span across the entire spread), unless they are re-created manually while holding Ctrl/Cmd during placement. This becomes especially frustrating when a layout contains a large number of precisely positioned guides that need to be extended to the full spread — for example, after a reorganization of pages or when switching from single-page to spread layout.
