1. Make Edit Original available with Adobe Experience Manager

   Hello, we recently implemented Adobe Experience Manager as our DAM and since then we lost the EDIT ORIGINAL option for our links in InDesign which is a heavily used feature for us given that some of our designers are spending a lot more time having to open different tools to edit each link. Anyway we can get that back?

2. Ability to set a layer to high res preview permanently

   It would be great to be able to set a layer to high res preview permanently. So that everytime you opened a document it remembered that Layer 2 for example needs to be high res preview.

   Reason for this: I work with a lot of dies in packaging, and when I link to them they always lose the high res view, but I need the high res view for the die so I can precisely design.

   Yes, I'm aware I can copy and paste the die from illustrator into InDesign, but when you are working with numerous files, it's best to link to one die so it can be changed across all files as needed.

3. Relative paths to external files

   My goal is to do all the layout and linking in indesign then do an export to a PDF with hyperlinks. The PDF and all the external linked files will then be distributed to other computers via USB-stick or CD.
   The links has to be relative for this to work and I would like to have that option in the hyperlinks pod/panel or when doing a PDF (or HTML export).
   I have been waiting 10 years for this feature - I cant understand why it has not been implemented searching the internet. it must be a clear usecase for indesign.

4. Paragraph Rules Improvements

   I would be great if the Paragraph Rules menu received a couple of improvements:

   1) Add a chain link for when you want both the Color and Gap Color to be the same. Likewise for the Tint and Gap Tint percentage.

   2) This one is a bit difficult to explain, but one of the biggest annoyances with using Paragraph Rules to apply a RULE ON to text is that the rule expands/contracts in an undesired way if you change the size of a text box or if you add/delete something from the text. What should happen is that the rule should stay put on the text you've highlighted.

   Right now there's an option to set a RULE to either the Text or Column. But there should be a 3rd option there called "Highlighted Text" so whatever Rule you apply, always stays put on the highlighted text.

   What I would like, for example, is to hightlight the word "John", apply a Rule to it, and have that rule stay put regardless of how I resize the text box.

   Look at this crude image that shows how the RULE changes size when I modify the size of the text box.

5. Enable "relink to CC Library"

   Enable "relink all images to a different CC Library" (relink to CC Library) , like you do on your hard drive (relink to folder)

   I´m creating catalogues where I reuse a lot of images again and again,.
   I copy images from one Library to a new Library.
   Then I want to relink this new Library to a copy of my Indesign document.

   Earlier it was easy to link all images to a different folder, but in CC Librarys it do not work the same way, very frustrating.

   And with the shutting down of synced files folders it’s very important to get this to work, I don't want to relink the images one by one.

6. Convert links to resolution

   Convert a copy of selected links to 300 dpi (or any chosen resolution).
   Including upscaling or downscaling.
   Alos available on packaging

   This would be helpful especially when supplied images are way too big, or some images are fine though a bit low res and need to be upscaled for print.

7. Tighter integration of TypeKit

   It seems silly that when you open an InDesign document and it uses TypeKit fonts that aren't available, there is no direct link to take you to the website and fix this.

   Firstly, it should just automatically activate the fonts if they're in TypeKit and you haven't already hit your limit.

   Secondly, if for some reason this behaviour is undesirable, you should be able to activate them from within InDesign. The process for new/occasional users is actually quite hard: a vague mention of the Creative Cloud app is all you get. Many users don't know what that is. Then you have to know to go to the "Assets" tab, then the "Fonts" tab, then press "Manage fonts", which takes you to a website, where most of the time I find you're not signed in, so you have to sign in, and THEN you're shown a list of the fonts you have synced... by now, assuming they have managed to wend their way through that, my users are saying "now what do I do?"

   How about in the "Find Fonts" dialog there is a button marked "TypeKit". In that it displays a list of all fonts available in TypeKit with a checkbox next to each. Sort of like the old ATM Deluxe or Suitcase.

   It seems silly that when you open an InDesign document and it uses TypeKit fonts that aren't available, there is no direct link to take you to the website and fix this.

8. Copy and Paste from Review Comments Panel in Id

   As a designer, being able to copy and paste new texts from clients directly from the comments panel is crucial.

   Right now, in order to copy and paste, I have to open up the review link on another screen in order to copy the new text that needs to be replaced.

9. Variable Spot Colors from Illustrator Definable in InDesign

   The ability to create a vector graphic in Illustrator, fill it with a variable spot color swatch (ie "Variable Color 1/2/3" etc.) and then when that spot color is imported into InDesign you can define it to match your project. Ideally on a per-instance basis, but even just editing the color globally from the swatches panel would be a big help. It would save hiving to make multiple versions of a graphic for each color you need - and that you may never need again.

   For now my workaround is to make a layered PDF from Illustrator with a layer for each color and then turn on/off the various layers in the links panel, but not quite as effective as a variable color and gets tricky when the layers get complex.

10. Links Panel: Show Exact Matches only

    When re-linking files, add an option to show "Exact matches only". Adobe Premiere has this. So when you're looking for the file you're re-linking, all files are greyed out except for the one that matches your file name.

    Find the Premiere equivalent in German attached!

11. Choosing book layers to output for Print/PDF

    I produce several multi-language books & brochures that consists of up to 114 separate documents linked via a Book file. Each language has its' own layer with the same name in all documents while other layers are exclusive to, or only exist in some documents. Currently when I have to Print or create a PDF of a specific language I have to open every single document to activate the layers I want visible, save, and then proceed to output the entire book.

    I would like to propose that Indesign incorporate an additional tab in its' print/pdf dialog boxes that lists ALL layers across all documents selected and allows the user to choose via a checkbox which layers are to be output.

    Furthermore I'd like to suggest layers with the same name work similar to how the Links dialog works where I could select the top-most label to output all layers with the same name -OR- have a drop down that lists the documents that layer name is found in & allows me to select which ones I want output or not.

    Additionally, I would like to be able to SAVE active layer settings so they can be reloaded rather than having to re-indicate which layers need to be activated/deactivated again when I go to reprint any particular language. This of course will likely require an indicator if available layers have changed within any of the selected files within the book.

    This would save a tremendous amount of time & effort especially when a change occurs across all languages requiring I output the entire book for each language. Currently having to open, activate/deactivate layers, & re-save every document for each language I need to output is extremely time consuming & ridiculous.

12. Support Apple Pages file as original text file

    I use Pages a lot, more than word, as pages support a lot of macOS native shortcut and I like to use them to quickly do my text editing, but word on the other hand has too many shortcut that doest follow the logic in macOS…

    As a heavy Pages user, it would be a huge time saving option to be able to link my pages file into indesign the same way as word file does.

    I like the idea of doing my text in a clean text editor like Pages, and linking it to InDesign to do the heavy formatting and so on, and if the pages doc added a new chapter or deleted one, then in InDesign, it would update.

    Just like photoshop now even support to export via airdrop and save to Photos app, it would be very appreciated to see InDesign supporting Pages

14. Dynamic linking of icml and other files

    Can you improve the re-linking fetaure for InCopy. Currently if the icma is refreshed, the project re-links the entire project which can take considerable time for large projects even when only a small number of icml or other files have been updated. Surely the who re-linking mechanism can be improved to be more dynamic and automatically update itself while working on a live project.

15. Chemin bibliothèque locale Indesign

    Hello,
    Would it be possible to have the address locally in the "library" panel, as in the link panel? Indeed, CC libraries are handy, but 1 plugin in particular does not support them (EasyCatalog), and it is not practical to find local libraries when you have several of them.

16. Copying Links to folder fails

    Oftentimes, when I try to copy links to a folder, it fails. No explanation as to why. It's happened dozens of times. Occasionally, it works. Usually not, though.

    I am running InDesign 13.1 on Mac OS 10.13.6

17. Update links in the background

    Links should be updated in the background. It is always annoying when you have to wait for an image to load (possibly off a server) and you have to wait for it. Maybe the frame to update should just be locked until updated but not the whole document.

19. Modify email addresses in auto-fill suggestions of Share for Review

    In Share for Review, in the line under, “Create a web link for stakeholders to comment and provide feedback.” When typing in an email, there is a dropdown that suggests users of the organization. Would very much like to be able to remove expired email addresses from terminated employees, and other erroneous email entries.
