  1. InDesign window in fullscreen after escaping presentation mode

    InDesign version 17.1
    When entering presentation mode (shift+w), and then escape, InDesign windows becomes fullscreen.
    It would be great to get back to same size and position.

  2. fit spread in window

    I want Fit Spread in Window to work, all the time, every time!!!!!!!!!!!! I am using version 21.0.1 on macOS 26.2. This defect has been around for a long time, and many people have complained about it. My office colleagues all have the same issue. It works today, and then not tomorrow. It works for 5 minutes in one file, and then suddenly stops working. A Page layout program should be able to display pages! I want to use Fit Spread in Window every single day, and I am so disappointed that this defect goes on and on and on…

  3. Data Merge window "white box" covering data

    InDesign 20. Just upgraded and now all my data merge documents are not showing the data in the window. There is a white box over that pallette window. I tried dragging the window out but it still persists. I opened all my merge documents and they are all showing the same white box over the data fields. I contacted support via chat and they advised me to install an older version of InDesign. That solves the problem but I cannot upgrade to the new InDesign.

  4. Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window.

    Hi,
    Photoshop .psb files grayed out in InDesign Open window. You cannot place PSB images using the "Place" command. However, you can drag and drop the file from the desktop into a InDesign picture box.

    Photoshop version is 22.1.1
    InDesign version 16.0.2
    macOS Catalina v10.15.7

    In fact, graying out of legitimate files happens on Catalina with other software. Excel sometimes cannot access to .xls or .xlsx files via the Open window.

    Sometimes legitimate files appear grayed out when the Open window is first opened but may turn black after few seconds.

  5. 2-UP Vertical window mode creeps wider with every click

    1. Indesign 18.2.1.
    2. Open two documents and then select 2-UP vertical window mode
    3. I expect both windows to stay the same width that I have set when opening 2-UP vertical window mode.
    4. When using 2-UP vertical screen mode, the left hand window creeps wider by one pixel every time I click in the right hand window.

    Numbers keys on extended keyboard not recognized when trying to fit window e.g.Ctrl+0.
    InDesign should have the same fit to window or 100% functions as Illustrator or Photoshop.
    The only thing that does work on the extended numeric keypad is the + and - keys.
    WHY?????

  8. User Interface half in English (default) and half in Russian

    When I go to my drop-down menu one of them is in Russian.

    The only issue I have found is with the dropdown under Type (English) > Text Variable (English) > Insert Veriable (Russian). Only in Russian on some documents I open, not all.

    I updated my InDesign to v 17.21 today.
    Using a MacBook Pro with MacOS Monterey v 12.3.1 (12-in, Apple M1 Chip, 2020).

  9. Line Jumps by Half its Stroke Weight in InDesign CC (Version 18.3)

    In InDesign CC (Version 18.3), there is a persistent bug where a line jumps unexpectedly by half its stroke weight when attempting to change its length. This issue has been present for some time and occurs consistently. Enabling or disabling the scaling options in the settings does not have any effect on this behavior.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open InDesign CC (Version 18.3) on the affected system.
    2. Create a new document page or open an existing document.
    3. Draw a line with any length and stroke weight.
    4. Select the line to edit it.

  11. Text Frame Lag when Window > Control (Panel) is enabled.

    When Control Panel is enabled (Window > Control), double clicking into a text frame has a lag for about a second. Turning off the Control Panel helps but this is not a solution.

    I think this lag is related to loading fonts in background for the select field – doesn’t matter how much or how less fonts are installed/loaded on Mac.

    As this is a long existing performance issue yet (available since 2018), could you please consider to optimize the lag for text frames within a future update, finally?

  12. Data Merge Preview drops Paragraph Styles with Nested Styles

    Suppose you want to merge data, and format it with nested styles. For example, you want one word to be red, and the other blue. If the cell is empty, remove the line.

    This works as intended until you 'Preview' the document. When you view a record without data, then move to the next, the paragraph style is lost entirely!

    For example, I use this technique to merge many restaurant menus for many locations. A food item is regular up to a '$'. Then the price is italicized. Some locations don't offer this item. If I were to Preview one…

  13. [UI] Edit in Textmode – window won't open

    When opening the "Edit in Textmode" / "Im Textmodus bearbeiten" (cmd + Y) the window will not show up.

    I have tested this on several macs in our company with different kind of additional monitor setups or no extra monitor attached.

    InDesign Version 15.1.1

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Take what ever textframe you want => Cmd + Y or rightclick "Im Textmodus bearbeiten" / "Edit in Textmode"
    2. The Window will not show up and you might think it is broken...

  14. Disproportionately large window "Tables of contents"

    I encountered a bug in Indesign when opening the application window for creating or modifying tables of contents, indeed it is disproportionately large, it is impossible to reduce it.

  15. Window size and position is forgotten

    Even though another entry entitled "InDesign in Windows ALWAYS forgets app size and position!" is marked as "Fixed/Solved" elsewhere in these pages, the issue is not fixed. In fact, it is more persistent in the latest 16.2.1 "update"... plus, ID crashes way more often now as well... I know this is another issue but for me when InDesign does not work as advertised, the whole thing –crashes, window size and position– is ONE issue: Adobe InDesign is buggy, more than ever, period.

  16. Strange black window in InDesign CC 14.0

    There is a strange bug since my latest upgrade to 14.0. Each time I import an image into a frame (cmd D) it appears a black window. Very annoying. Now way to get rid of it except shutting everything down, quitting InDesign and restarting. What's wrong?

  17. Window Management Not Apple/MacOS Standard

    The window management across all adobe apps but most of all inDesign is buggy and not the correct apple standard. You can see its not inline with other apps and the native resizing tools by looking at the edges of the application and the rounded corners.

    Window management tools do not work with inDesign as it resizes it self. Grabbing edges is extremely difficult and usability is bad. Traffic lights tend to move down to about 3/4 into the document or disappear all together.

  18. Open Asset Plugin window keeps opening up even though I keep shutting it. It continuously interrupts my flow.

    The Open Asset plugin for Indesign continuously pops up. I don't use it. I don't want to use it. I want it to stop popping up and interrupting my workflow. If I close the window, it should stay CLOSED.

  19. Scrollbar is hidden upon defocusing the InDesign window

    Upon defocusing the InDesing window, the scrollbar disappears.

    This issue is creating usability problems - working on 2 monitors, clicking on the other monitor to grab some image or text, then trying to return to InDesign by clicking the scrollbar to scroll to the desired position does not work. Instead, randomly clicking the empty scrollbar randomly scrolls to the left or to the right.
    Whoever had the idea to hide the scrollbars had a very bad decision. None of known apps are hiding the scrollbar upon defocus, also, hiding the scrollbar has absolutely no benefits, just drawbacks.

  20. window gets stuck at the bottom

    I'm on the latest version of Dreamweaver v.18 on Mac Ventura 13.4.1
    Everytime I zoom in the window gets stuck at the bottom and stops scrolling. I can scroll left and right but not up.. I have attached a screenrecording .. Please help
