Alt-text and field descriptions/tooltips do not export correctly
>>>When updating Alt-text on images or the form field descriptions in InDesign 2025 20.0.1 on Mac and exporting to PDF, the Alt-text/descriptions do not reflect the updated text. This requires manual updating of every single image or form field in the PDF or saving as IDML, opening in 2024 and exporting.

Bad optical kerning for superscript "4"
>>>When a superscript "4" follows a closing smart quotation mark, optical kerning is set to -60 or -70 depending on font. This is too close (basically a crash).
>>This is annoying for books with lots of endnotes, where superscript numbers usually follow quotation marks.

WorldReady settings go missing in [Basic Paragraph] style
>>Adobe InDesign (ME) 2021, 2020, CC 2019, ..., CS6
>
> macOS and Windows>InDesign's WorldReady settings (Paragraph Direction, Kashidas, etc.) are being stripped from a document's [No Paragraph Style] style when opened on a machine with a missing 3rd-party plug-in (like Em Software's InCatalog). This appears to happen with any 3rd-party plug-in that adds a text attribute with a prefix that's lower than the WorldReady plug-in's prefix. While the following steps use the Middle Eastern app (English Arabic), where there's a UI to see the style's empty/blank WorldReady entries, we've confirmed that this problem affects all app variants

Text and picture boxes flash white when selecting and moving
>>This is a problem I’ve been experiencing for some time and it’s still present in the latest version I’ve updated to.
>>Whenever I select any item on the page - a picture box or text box - and I drag to another position, the item flashes white for a frame as I move it. This occurs whether I move the item with or without holding down the Shift key. It is only the item that flashes, not the rest of the page, but if I am moving a large shape or the background image, it becomes uncomfortable to

InDesign Crash with Outlook
>>>I am working on a Mac (Mojave - 10.14) using InDesign CC 2019. The bug is that when I open InDesign with Outlook already open, InDesign all of a sudden begins eating up memory, at about 1 GB every few seconds, until it reaches about 130 GB then force-quits not only InDesign but Outlook. However, after rebooting, if I first launch InDesign THEN Outlook, this doesn't happen.

InDesign 2018 crashing when I go to linked endnote text
>>I'm working with linked endnotes in InDesign 2018 (version 13.1), but my file originated in InDesign 2015 (I skipped 2017). I have already saved the document as an InDesign 2018 file but seem to be having problems importing a document with linked endnotes.
>>I'm starting with an old InDesign file because I'm working on volume 2 of a multi-book series and want to maintain all my old styles. I don't know if that's relevant, but I have worked successfully placing linked endnotes from word in previous books already. In this one, the endnote references appear to have links

Font lost when pasting text to ID 2018 from updated Excel for Mac 2016
>>>InDesign CC 2018
>
> Mac OS High Sierra and Mac OS El Capitan
> Excel Mac 2016 updated>Font family used in inDesign document is not found after pasting table text from Excel file (a process that has been used successfully for some years) . First happened in High Sierra, and thinking it was the OS update that caused it, I reinstalled El Capitan. Tested the copy/paste using a newly installed version of Office without updating it, and had no problem. Updated Excel and the problem returned.

Paragraph style naming field typed text overwrites itself
>>- >
- >Double click style name >
- >Attempt to rename style >
- >Text field appears limited to 1-3 characters. >
- >As text is entered into the field, each character deletes and replaces the previous (ie overtype mode). >
>This occurs only randomly and only inside of InDesign. My keyboard or OS settings can be ruled out as a cause.

text won't appear over a pdf or imported image
>>>when i import an image or a pdf, any text that i try to have over it (such as putting a page number in the corner of the page) disappears. it's not that the text doesn't appear when the imported file isn't there, just that it is disappearing as it goes "beneath" the image or pdf. sending the imported file to back or the text to front does nothing.

Bug: Find/replace fonts doesn't work on hidden conditional text
>>>Version: Indesign 17.x
>
> Problem: when opening a document that reports a missing fonts, replacing all instance with "Replace all" buttons might not work or not replace all when the text is conditional and currently hidden.
> It's understandable that "Find first" cannot work on hidden text, because that would mean to reveal it, but "Replace" all wouldn't jump to any text part in the document, so it should work.1 vote -
[ID-4261000]Hebrew Text with Vowel Points Reorders Incorrectly When Pasted from InDesign to Word
>>When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.
>>One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own
