Flashing screen
When trying to open Illustrator AND InDesign, the "new document" window that automatically pops up is white and just flashes on and off the screen. If I try to click out of the screen, it closes the whole program. I can't access any of my files.

Email Hyperlink Breaks
In the Hyperlinks panel, Email hyperlinks that include a subject that includes an ampersand will change from an Email-type to a URL-type when you click OK. Status will then appear as a red dot in the Hyperlinks panel instead of an envelope. Opening it again from the Hyperlinks panel will show the subject gone and in a URL format.

Extension on top of built-in modal messages can cause deadlock, windows blocking each other
InDesign's "modal" built-in dialogues can show up BEHIND third party extensions, if the extension is situated in the center of the screen. The extension window can not be moved before the window from InDesign has been handled (you may have to press OK or something like that), and that window is completely hidden. When this situation occurrs, you have to force InDesign to a quit.

No keyboard focus on launch
InDesign 14.0.1.209, macOS Mojave 10.14.2
When launched and the following conditions hold, InDesign does not seem to have keyboard focus (i.e.., no keyboard shortcuts work):
- Show ‘Start’ Workspace When No Documents Are Open is unticked.
- The Control bar is open in the default workspace.
- The CC Libraries panel is either not in the default workspace or collapsed.
Note that conditions 2 and 3 are met by several of the standard workspace, for example both Advanced and Typography (but not Book, Essentials or Essentials Classic).

Creating a new Cross Reference - Automatic select [All Paragraphs]
When creating a new Cross Reference entry, the windows that pop automatically pick [All Paragraphs] and in document with many table or lots of text frame, this can take very, very.... long time before the window popup.
This was introduced with CC 18.1 and is still the case up to now with CC22 (17.1).
It was ok with CC20017.
I have been reporting this behavior since April 2019 and for each release.

modification date
This is so strange.. When I want to open a file in the window there is no date anymore. So how to see which file is the latest one you worked on? I resetted preferences, but still it only shows: name-size-kind-date added... And i can not find a way to get a view options panel for this. any help?

Save Windows on Mac OS
NOTE: This is a problem not just on InDesign, but also on Illustrator and Photoshop as well.
Ever since the last upgrade for macOS Big Sur (ver 11.1), save, package and export windows have a serious issue. They don't show the pathways of the files even when you have it set to do so. Instead all you see is the options for what to include or any other information at the bottom of the window (see the attached screen shot).
Even when you enlarge the window to be able to see the paths, it does not retain the memory…

Renaming CC Library Elements
Renaming elements that have been stored in the Creative Cloud Libraries panel is unstable and can use improvements.
• There is no clear cursor to know where you are in the name.
• Double clicking to highlight a word, once in the rename mode, common practice everywhere else, ends up opening the library item, not selecting the word you intended.
• Doing a slow double click on the name, like you can do in the Layers panel to rename a layer doesn't work either.4 votes -
Export from book file default to wrong filetype
CC 2017 12.0.0.81
Using the regular export menu, export an interactive PDF. That becomes the default. But now I want to export a Print PDF from the book panel, it keeps defaulting back to interactive PDF. So to make its I don't have to remember to choose Print PDF (for every single export), I have to first export a random Print PDF using the regular export menu, just to switch the default in the Export Selected files to PDF option.The two export locations: File > Export and using the flight from the Book panel, shouldn't be tied…

panels / windows won't open, InDesign doesn't launch 80% of the time
Honestly wasn't sure what to file this under. I am running the latest version of InDesign (version 14.0.2). About 4/5 times when I click to launch InDesign, it bounces for several minutes and then nothing happens... and then it stops bouncing and the dot under the app also goes away, yet the app says its open - still no windows. Eventually - usually after about 10-15 minutes of waiting - I have to right click, quit, and start again.

Hello, am I being dumb? I can share individual files, but when I try and share a book, “share for Review” is greyed out and the Review panel is black.

Artifact Tagging
InDesign now ignores it half the time when I designate an object as an artifact in the object export options panel. I run an accessibility check on the PDF and those objects come up as errors in the alternate text check, and I have to manually desginate them all as artifacts within Acrobat. I know this is a new issue, because I've been working with the same template for several years and locked down all the objects that were supposed to remain the same month to month. Never has a problem until the 2020 update.

InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) freezes when interacting with modal dialog panels on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia)
Hi Adobe team,
I’m experiencing repeated, non-reproducible hangs in InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) when interacting with certain modal dialog panels — such as Panel Options, Color Panel settings, and similar. This occurs on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). After clicking inside one of these dialogs, InDesign sporadically becomes unresponsive (beachball), requiring a force quit via “Force Quit Applications.”
The issue existed before a complete clean install of macOS and continues to occur even after the fresh system setup with no migration or prior settings carried over.
Here are the key system details:

Extensions isn't working on the last Indesign versions
Using Indesign 2019 or 2020 on the MacOS, trying to install any extension, opening the menu Window > Extensions > Selecting an extension: nothing happens.

I can't create my Composite Font and all of my C.F are missing
Latest Version, Korean ver.
Text > Composite Font > New > (making composite font) > save > ok > loading > pop up that i don't have access rights
And When i open my works that i made with my personal composite font, pop up that indesign fail to make composite font (my composite font's name).
I made a composite font and used it well, but when I turned on my computer and turned on InDesign, all the composite fonts were gone.

InDesign 2025 / v20.0: »background task« tries to activate font all the time
Working with the font Minion Pro InDesign 2025 wants to activate the font in the background (shown in the background tasks panel) although it IS activated.
Closing the document does not bother InDesign. It still wants to activate the font (see screenshot 2).
Quit & Restart helps, but it should work correctly without it.
