1. Gray box replaces images

   Adobe InDesign 13.0.1
   Mac OS 10.11.6

   Today for first time, I had three similar 8-page newspaper documents open and one of them displayed only a gray box where the front page photo (full page image) had displayed before. I tried checking all display settings and could not bring the image back. Meanwhile, other full page ads got gray boxes also. The other two documents displayed similar content with no problem.

   I quit InDesign, and re-opend problem document. It then displayed all of the images properly.

2. Google font unusable after 2024 update.

   1. InDesign 2024, Google font Big Shoulders Display (variable width) stopped working properly between 2023 and 2024 updates.
   2. I tried changing character attributes, pacakging the file and deleting the Document fonts folder (suggested in Adobe Community)
   3. Expected the font to work properly
   4. Font does not work properly

3. Adobe InDesign 14 always launches on a wrong monitor out of two.

   All good with Photoshop, Illustrator, etc, but Indesign keeps opening every time on a wrong monitor no matter what. Plus, even when you drag it to another display, all the dialog boxes keep appearing on a different monitor. Moreover, it resets your workspace to Essentials every time and it take you some time to set it up again after start. Annoying and counterproductive

4. Mixed usage Left-to-right and Right-to-left text in the same paragraph

   Ms Word files can contain Right-To-Left and Left-To-Right text in the same paragraph. When copy/pasting the text into Indesign, only one of the 2 textdirections is displayed correctly.

   Creating the text frame which uses the Right-to-Left text direction, and using the World Ready composer, the corresponding text is displayed well. Inline phrases in English, are displayed wrong. Changing the composer to regular Single line composer fixes the English phrases, but messes up the foreign language.

   When using different paragraphs, each with the corresponding composer, all works well. When a combination is used in a single paragraph, it can't be fixed.

5. Tags not Exporting Correctly and other Accessibility Issues

   The latest versions of InDesign often does not export tags to PDF correctly. Other accessibility issues also tend to occur from time to time, but the most common is tagged artifacts lose their tags when exported to PDF. I backsave to InDesign 2019 and re export. All is consistently correct from that version. Would love for Adobe to look into this issue and correct. Our sight-impaired populations require software that makes accessibility easier with each upgrade, not harder. (Reinventing the process every few upgrades doesn't help either.) Thanks!

6. The UI is not scaling correctly on Windows 4k screens - UI too small

   Hi, I am having problems with the UI Scaling on InDesign on my 4k laptop. I am using the recommended system scaling of 250% which works well with other apps except for Adobe, most noticeably InDesign. I pay a premium price for Adobe CC which should be reflected in their products. The UI is way too small on InDesign compared to Illustrator and Photoshop.

   I also have problems in all adobe apps when using an external monitor to expand my screen size. Dragging the apps from one monitor to the other does all sorts of weird things.

7. What if I could double click the application title bar to minimize a window into the dock?

   Dear Adobe,
   Double-clicking a title bar to minimize a window is Mac behavior that goes back to the first release of OS10 in 2001. It is based on an even older behavior from OS9 where double clicking a title bar would "windowshade" the window like a roller blind rolling up into itself.

   Apple and Adobe train us all the time to adapt to new technologies and interfaces. Some behaviors we learn are easy to shake off and adapt to the new ones, especially if we haven't done them for very long. As a creative professional who has obviously done this for a long time, I've learned to be flexible. But this one, the reflex is so second-nature to me. Double click the title bar, the window should minimize to the dock.  I still have this problem, Adobe, and I cuss a blue streak every time I double click the title bar in indesign and instead of minimizing, it mocks me and fills the screen! 

   Adobe please be consistent on these matters. Either return this functionality back to indesign and illustrator, or remove it from ALL the apps so users can move on. 

   Don't get me started on all the different ways each program resizes objects uniformly. Or zooms, for crying in a bucket. :)

8. variable font using no font style after PDF export for fillable form

   When using a variable Font (Acumin from Adobe Fonts) for a text field in a fillable form it isn't using any font style when exported to PDF.

   Static fonts act as expected.

9. Hyphenation zone settings override discretionary hyphen exclusivity

   According to Adobe's documentation, discretionary hyphens should have absolute priority over automatic hyphenation rules. Specifically:

   "Entering a discretionary hyphen in a word does guarantee that the word can be broken only where the discretionary hyphen appears."

   When a word contains a discretionary hyphen that falls within the "After First X Letters" or "Before Last X Letters" prohibited zone, InDesign should:
   1. Respect the discretionary hyphen's exclusivity (only break where discretionary hyphen appears)
   2. Refuse to break the word at all since the only allowed break point falls within the prohibited zone
   3. Not apply automatic hyphenation anywhere else in the word

   Actual Behavior

   InDesign ignores the discretionary hyphen when it falls within the prohibited hyphenation zone and applies automatic hyphenation rules instead, breaking the word at algorithmically-determined positions that fall outside the prohibited zone.

10. Tabs

    Adobe Indesign CC2019 (Latest). MacOS 10.14.5. Mac Pro 6,1.
    Tabs do not work. Applying tabs to text does not work. Adjusting tabs does not work. Resetting tabs the trying to set them again does not work.

12. Arabic exported to EPUB (Fixed Layout) doesn't show properly

    • InDesign 15.1.2 / Mac OS 10.15.6

    • Create an InDesign document with Arabic content. Apply any Arabic font.

    • When exporting to EPUB (Fixed Layout) we should see the Arabic text appear in the epub viewer in similar manner as it shows in InDesign document.

    • The exported epub document is viewed in Apple's Books application, and Adobes Digital Editions 4.5 with similar problems in both epub viewers, where all Arabic text is either invisible or messed up and shifted from its location.

    • Attached images from InDesign document, and epub file which was exported from InDesign.

13. AppleScript Finder communication

    InDesign version 16.3.2 with OSX 10.14.6 or later

    Indesign script‘s with calls to the Finder or other Apple apps work running from Apple’s Script Editor, but break when running from InDesign’s Scripts panel. Get an Not Authorized to Send Apple Events to Finder error.

    This breaks when running from the Scripts panel, but worked with InDesign 2020:

14. InDesign 17.2 Export XML crashes

    Adobe InDesign 17.2.0.20
    macOS 12.3.1

    Upon exporting XML from an InDesign file, InDesign crashes. This does not happen with Adobe InDesign 17.1.0.50.

15. Unwanted dark lines generated around PNG files on export

    Adobe Indesign 2021
    When I export designs using an imported PNG graphic, the finished PDF shows an unwanted dark line around the crop area of the PDF.
    This doesn't seem to happen with jpegs or ai files.

16. IDML export corruption

    This bug produces an IDML file with misplaced or missing elements.

    It stems from having a second master page based on another master page.

    When that second master page (based on another) is applied to a page in document, then saved as an IDML, the resulting IDML file will have misplaced or missing elements on the relative pages.

    TEMPORARY WORK-AROUND:
    While viewing the second master page (based on another), choose Override All Master Page Items from the side Pages menu. OR, simply do not base any master pages on other master pages. The resulting IDML file will look exactly like the original INDD file.

    meine Meldung an den Support wurde sofort bearbeitet. Leider kamen wir auf das Ergebnis, dass die Hilfe - PDF leider nicht auf u.a. "deutsch" vorgehalten wird.

    Vom Support konnte ich direkt die links bekommen, diese waren alle nur in englisch erhältlich.

    Mein Problem,...
    da wir eine JVA sind und die Strafgefangenen keinen Internetzugang haben, kann ich diesen, zur Optimierung ihres Wissens, keine Literatur an die Hand geben die im Internet vorgehalten wird.

    Wir benötigen die Hilfe-PDF in deutsch für folgende Programme:
    - Indesign
    - Photoshop
    - Illustrator
    Vielleicht gibt es ja in Zukunft eine Lösung für diese Problem.

    Weiter habe ich Ihnen noch unseren Mailverlauf aufgeführt.

    Sollte es möglich sein Ihre Schüler in Klassenumgebungen zu unterrichten, dann wäre das Benutzen eines beaufsichtigten Rechners mit Internetzugang, der die Lehrvideos über einen Beamer an die Wand projeziert eine gute Alternative.

18. InDesign CC 2017 closeExtension() does NOT work properly.

    Problem is reproducible with InDesign CC 2017 newest patch.
    All the request information is available under Adobe Community link: https://forums.adobe.com/message/9853814#9853814
    Other Adobe Extension developers also tested and verified this described issue.
    
    Please provide the fix update. Thx.

19. Data Merge function "Honor existing frame fitting option" is not working on master pages

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server

    Steps to reproduce the issues
    See also attached video

    Open the file > 01ExposeTEMPXMLStart.indd
    Generate a merged document by clicking the button
    Choose "Honor existing frame fitting" in Content Placement Options
    Click [OK]
    Jump to page 1 in the merged document
    The pictures are placed without honoring the existing frame fitting options from the object style
    This only happens with frames that are placed on a master page. The same frame on a document page works fine

    Expected result
    Data Merge should honor the new feature "Honor existing frame fitting options" on master pages al well

    Actual result
    The existing frame fitting options even by object style applied is ignored

    Workaround
    If a object style is already applied you can remove the local override by pressing the "delete local override" button

20. InDesign lags MacOS Catalina when using a screen profile other than sRGB

    Attached a screen capture of a very simple InDesign document showing the lag when changing the profile of the monitor to anything else than sRGB – even AdobeRGB doesn't work.
